There Was An Idea: A Kevin Feige Quest

Seriously guys, Stryker was such a letdown from Cottonmouth in the show, so if we are going with a similar premise at all to irl, lets cut out Stryker completely. Also, if you are trying to figure out how to get Cottonmouth to be a threat, dont think physically. Cottonmouth should have his hooks in every level of power, not unlike in the show but to a greater extent. One of the best parts of Luke Cage was Luke running from the cops as he is accused of attacking cops, and how the community rallied behind him. But it hit me, why did Stryker have to be the one to make this happen? Cottonmouth should have been able to arrange this better than Stryker as he had more contacts in the area.

As The Zog said, Cottonmouth isnt a threat as is. But frankly, that is a fault of pacing and writing. Here is my pitch. Cottonmouth will adapt. Luke is invulnerable, but he is one man and can only be in one place. Why would Cottonmouth keep all his stash in one place anymore? Heck, how is it that that Cottonmouth lets Luke Cage sneak up on all the deals being made? Why aren't there lookouts getting people to scram when Luke comes close, like they would with the police. So on and so forth.

Basically Luke stopping Cottonmouth shouldnt be a montage of crumpling guns and calling the police, and Cottonmouth just wringing his hands. Nor should it just be Cottonmouth shooting RPGs, as that is only one of his tactics. I think we can have a full season of Cottonmouth vs Luke Cage, because Cottonmouth, while not physically able to harm Luke, is an institution. But at the same time, Luke can't be harmed nor can he be bent. Luke is a titan, a juggarnaut, whose approach can't be stopped.

This allows for buildup and escalation over the course of the season and for Mahershala Ali to really sink his teeth into Cottonmouth.

So this is for stuff a bit later down the line, but how do you feel about Scarlet Witch and Vision being on a TV show after they're introduced in the movies? We'd have to keep in mind TV willingness when casting, but I honestly think they'd be fun to explore in a show.

The powers aren't what makes Spiderman - it's probably the least important part of his character. The personality is what makes Spiderman the successful character it is. So I don't think this idea would work.
I'm aware, I would fully expect us to gut this character's personality completely to make a Spider-Man. Wouldn't be the first time the MCU did it anyway.
However, maybe we could use this guy as the one who is chasing the Reality Stone carrier and causes the crash at the beginning of Hulk 3? As I said, I don't really know too much about cosmic marvel stuff, so I don't know about any particular space bounty hunter character that could fit - the main opposition to Hulk in that movie will be his nightmares of himself, but having an actual alien to fight for the Shield team that'll be with him (I was thinking it was time to give Maria Hill some more exposure) could be handy. And a space character allows us to use the Reality Stone's ability to give a body to people's fear to get a Thanos cameo.
* shrug * I dunno, whatever works. I'm just saying that if we need a name for not!Spider-Man that would be the one to use.

I feel I should reiterate that show!Cottonmouth was basically fully original (with some shades of Stryker) while show!Stryker was a reskin of Coldfire (Cage's brother who got superpowers to kill him).

I'm totally with you on character, but I would far prefer if we kept the name Stryker/Diamondback (since he is supposed to be a major villain for Cage).

Like real life? That's probably a good idea, I'm hoping WandaVision surreality is appropriate for what is apparently going to be a 50s style sitcom? Kind of like that suspense Vision comic where Viv was introduced, but mixed with Wandas mental instability and reality warping to explain how Wiccan and Speed are around for the Young Avengers.

I really hope the show irl is gonna be a psychological thriller.

honestly, if we can get back Spider Man and have enough time to do a story about Spidey and Venom, we let him keep the crazy slime

so that when Infinity War happen, we can have Iron Venom fight Thanos

Spidey alway ditch the crazy slime, kinda want one of those universe/timeline where he keep the crazy blob

So, I've been thinking on where I want to end up with our shows. If we want a big universe, then it's simply not sustainable to give every hero their own show and keep it that way. Not only will our team burn out on it, but it's just too much to expect our audience to watch. Instead, I split people up into the shows I want - Hell's Kitchen, Heroes for Hire, Midnight Sons, Nightstalkers, S.H.I.E.L.D., Thunderbolts, Inhumans, Young Avengers, Jennifer Walters, She-Hulk at Law, Damage Control, Moon Knight, and the Hood.

Obviously we don't start with these, but rather we build to them as other shows finish out seasons and arcs. We can then build off these - but let's be honest. People are going to get tired of the same old characters doing similar things eventually. While we probably could continue to evolve our characters from here, I'm not sure why we'd want to.

STREET LEVEL SHOWS
Hell's Kitchen - the story of Daredevil and Punisher and probably others later, this is a show I want renowned for it's awesome fight scenes.
Heroes for Hire - the house that Luke Cage built, this is the less gritty New York story. Oh, it still tackles dark and powerful topics, but some humor is dealt along with it and generally they have each other to rely on. This is Luke, IF, JJ, White Tiger, Misty Knight, Colleen Wing, and maybe more later on. This is a show known for tackling sensitive issues with grace, while portraying real people with real issues - and also superpowers. This generally contains the more physically powerful villains, compared to Hell's Kitchen's more Batman-style rogue cast.

SUPERNATURAL LEVEL SHOWS
Midnight Sons - they kick ass and take names, looking badass while they do it. This is the story of our demon fighting heroes - Ghost Rider and Hellstrom and is generally a gritty but comedic show. What they do is dark, but damn do they love doing it.
Nightstalkers - our other, more broad, supernatural show. Hercules, Union Jack, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, and Vision work together to solve magical mysteries and defeat those who seek to abuse it.

INTERNATIONAL LEVEL SHOWS
S.H.I.E.L.D. - the story of the agents who make SHIELD so great, this quickly evolves into one of our biggest shows, with one of our biggest casts.
Thunderbolts - It's a tough life for reformed villains, but these guys are giving it their all, now sponsored by the government as part of the Registration Act. This let's us place a few key characters from the kind of crowded S.H.I.E.L.D. to here.
Inhumans - Game of Thrones but they have super powers, Inhumans is an interesting concept. It needs to be executed well to work though, and just copying Game of Thrones won't cut it.

YOUNG LEVEL SHOWS
Young Avengers - Made up of a combination of the Power Pack, Runaways, and new heroes, this conglomeration is dealing with their own issues while trying to become heroes they can be proud of.

COMEDIC LEVEL SHOWS
Jennifer Walters, She-Hulk at Law - a more comedic, fourth wall breaking story, it nonetheless is a story of a woman defined by narratives she had no control over, and seeking to get that control back.
Damage Control - A comedic take of a construction company who specializes in helping out after superhero fights.

DARK LEVEL SHOWS
Moon Knight - he don't play well with others, and as such as a show of his very own. This will explore darker themes, including the sanctity of his own mind.
The Hood - a coming of age tale... For a two-bit crook with a magic hood. All our shows are about the heroes, but this? This is about the villain.

It's a bit of everything, sure, but that's what I like about it. We've got the classic superhero show in Daredevil. We've got the villain of the week social commentary in Heroes for Hire. We've got the dark comedy and devil-killing in Midnight Sons. We've got a supernatural mystery in Nightstalkers. We've got a spy/crime drama in SHIELD.

We have a 'classic' superhero team-up in Thunderbolts. We have a political story in Inhumans. We have satiricial, fourth wall breaking comedy in Jennifer Walters. We have actual comedy in Damage Control. We have a psychological crime drama in Moon Knight. We have a crimeboss show in the Hood.

Every show has it's own distinct identity, and no one area is too crowded imo.

So, what do y'all think?

I like the idea for a show about Daredevil, but I'm not sure if includin the Punisher into it is a good idea. The Punisher as a concept works, but mainly in small amounts. So I'd suggest that instead it remains as a Daredevil show, while the Punisher gets some Mini-Series, so as to not put so much of him to the viewers, just enough to get a taste.

Heroes for Hire was an idea that I wanted to see executed as soon as possible, but lately I think that we should make it happen after both heroes have had around three or four seasons. As for including the rest of the heroes (Misty Knight, Jessica Jones, White Tiger, Colleen Wing) are you talking them getting their own episodes in that show? Becaue I think that's the only way so many main characters can share the screen.
Now personally I think having two shows here would be too much. Ghost Rider can work, and giving a show to Scarlet Witch and Vision seems to be the route for OTL MCU. But the rest of the cast don't seem to be the type to join together (Ghost Rider is a loner anyway. He teams up sometimes but then leaves).

Instead I would suggest that we join those ideas into one show:

Journey into Mystery - An anthology series where many of the more mystical characters are shown dealing with the supernatural. The episodes here would depend on who the viewers like the most, with the chance of getting their own show if reacted to more favourably.
No questions asked. S.H.I.E.L.D. must be done and it must be the series that has the biggest cast in order to represent the entire organization, as well as actually have cameos from the other shows and the movies.

Thunderbolts as a movie is something that we are still planning, but putting them as a show? Having the actors reprise their roles in the small screen after being the leads in the big screen would cost more than the budget we might be given, perhaps more than what we would use for the S.H.I.E.L.D. show.

Inhumans...I really didn't like Inhumans, I saw no reason to include them in the OTL MCU, and I did not like how they tried to make the the X-Men of the MCU (They are not, nor will they ever, be the X-Men!) so I was ready to argue against this. But then you mentioned Game of Thrones, and I think that if we can keep it contained in such a way (with the show taking place in their realm, political machinations, and including the danger of them being discovered) then perhaps it might make it watchable.
YOUNG LEVEL SHOWS
Young Avengers - Made up of a combination of the Power Pack, Runaways, and new heroes, this conglomeration is dealing with their own issues while trying to become heroes they can be proud of.
Runaways and Power Pack... The one show I don't want to see and the one idea I wish they had made instead. I don't mindthem being done, but I do mind them being given the title Young Avengers. Considering that in phase 4 there might be plans to make the Young Avengers happen, I think that instead we should keep the idea for Young Avengers more for the Big Screen. Power Pack by itself would be amazing (Specially if we follow your pitch here Ban) but Runaways, not so much. If they are going to exist at all, then they should appear after our version of Endgame.
I won't fight this. This is something i've wanted for a long time now.
Moon Knight, I will admit I know very little about this character aside that he is brutal to his enemies. But a psychological thriller sounds very interesting, and even more so for an Anti-Hero. if there's something that should be added here its cameos form Daredevil and perhaps even antagonism from Punisher (What with Punisher having a Black and White idea of Evil to the extreme).

Hood, it's interesting having a show about the villain, but Hood was mainly brough to the fore by Dark Reign. If we're planning for this then I could see it happen, so long as we make him have a compelling story besides just getting powers and that society forced him. I really want to feel for Hood here.

89. Planning Session: Premise (Luke Cage)
You've reached out to a people you're interested in working with, and you're hoping to hear back soon. You've also come up with some ideas on how to approach Luke's character. Before any of that though you'll need to settle on a supervillain or two. It's not exaggerating to say that these stories are as much built around the antagonists as they are the heroes, and a lot of your ideas might work well with one enemy but not so well with another. Luke has a fairly decent rogues gallery - a weird number of whom are named after snakes - though most of them will likely need to be reinterpreted to modern sensibilities. Of course other villains might appear or be set up, but this is the main bad. Once this is chosen you can work out the details of the story, how you plan to re-imagine the characters, and which characters you'll want to include. You might as well decide on how dark or lighthearted your approach will be as well.

This vote is an approval vote. Write-ins are always permitted. The canon choice here would be to select two primary villains: Cottonmouth and Diamondback.

[] [Foes] Black Mariah. Mariah Dillard has no superpowers, but she's a powerful criminal with a lot of influential connections.
[] [Foes] Cottonmouth. Another Kingpin with some ties to Luke's comic origin story. Some versions of him have razor sharp teeth.
[] [Foes] Diamondback. Luke's former best friend who framed him, Willis Stryker is a master of knife fighting and other gadgets.
[] [Foes] Chemistro. One of Luke's recurring foes could be dangerous for his use of chemical weapons, bypassing Luke's invincibility.
[] [Foes] Coldfire. James Lucas Jr. is Luke's younger brother, possessing a protoplasmic form of controlled and white-hot plasma.
[] [Foes] Mister Fish. One of Luke's sillier foes was mutated into a fish by falling into the East River with a shipment of special isotopes.
[] [Foes] Bushmaster. A Caribbean Islander and fierce rival who is - unlike the other snakes - actually part of the Serpent Society.
[] [Foes] Achebe. While more of Black Panther villain, Achebe could be a dangerous foe. He's smart, ruthless, and out of his gourd.
[] [Foes] Nightshade. Born into poverty in Harlem, Tilda Johnson is extremely intelligent but has been forced into a life of crime.
[] [Foes] Shades and Comanche. Two Harlem thugs who knew Luke Cage in Seagate prison and suffered under similar poor treatment.
[] [Foes] The Wrecking Crew. A rather silly band of four supervillains, they could be enhanced by the same experiment as Luke.

[] [Count] You don't want your focus to get too split. Only one primary villain is necessary.
[] [Count] Two villains will show Luke's situation to be more complicated than "just punch him."
[] [Count] Why not go all out? Your hero is invincible. Give him three bad dudes to beat up.

[] [Tone] Fans have responded best to the quips. Go for a light and comedic tone this time.
[] [Tone] You want to keep this light and upbeat, but still working in some moments of drama.
[] [Tone] Shoot for an even mix of light and darkness. Comedy and drama in equal amounts.
[] [Tone] This show is one which calls for a certain seriousness, even if there's still some levity.
[] [Tone] Go as dark and serious as possible. Comic relief is unrealistic in times of suffering.

And setting up Black Mariah for the future. The original was good, the villains just need some tuning. Diamondback needs more screen time and a different actor, Cottonmouth need to not die like a chump and be summarily replaced. And he was good too, it was a waste of a performance to kill him so early.

She-Hulk and damage control could maybe be folded together into a show about the people at the messy edges of super stuff (Walters remains protag though).
Moon Knight, I will admit I know very little about this character aside that he is brutal to his enemies.
Imagine Fight Club/Mr.ROBOT but with multiple identities and the MC isn't even sure which identity is the original, also he may be tapped into a lovecraftian god of the moon. Oh, and he's rich enough (in one identity at least) to fund his stuff. Expand a little on it /lean into the Lovecraft a bit/ and we could make a good Sense8-like show :V

from what I'm reading on him, Hood is compelling enough to also be another potential Spider-Man.

Having the canon villains works here, and changing tgive the impression of Luke Cage as a Hero who never gives up.

By the way, is there a moratorium? It was not mentioned in the updates, but I want to be sure.

I want a show that shows the duality between Mariah and Misty, and the duality between Cottonmouth and Cage. All 4 are working to better the city, but through very different ways. My idea would include Diamondback as well, but - it's unnecessary to be totally honest. We can have a few mentions of him in Season 1, maybe saying he'd gone off to train with some old Kung Fu guys? I want to tie Stryker to Hand, as it would better tie Luke into that stuff.

[X] [Tone] Shoot for an even mix of light and darkness. Comedy and drama in equal amounts.

We can't go too dark, but this is a show about racism and class divide. Making it mostly comedic just isn't going to fly.

She-Hulk and damage control could maybe be folded together into a show about the people at the messy edges of super stuff (Walters remains protag though).

That sounds awesome! I really want to make that kind of series. And if the Hood manages to be as compeling as Spiderman then we won't have any problems there.

[X] [Foes] Cottonmouth. Another Kingpin with some ties to Luke's comic origin story. Some versions of him have razor sharp teeth.
[X] [Count] You don't want your focus to get too split. Only one primary villain is necessary.
[X] [Tone] Shoot for an even mix of light and darkness. Comedy and drama in equal amounts.
[X] [Tone] This show is one which calls for a certain seriousness, even if there's still some levity.

As I said before in my previous reasoning, one of the strongest parts of OTL Luke Cage was Mahershala Ali's Cottonmouth, with Diamondback never really managing to live up to his performance as a villain. Similar to Daredevil, and OTL Jessica Jones, I think focusing on one villain and their relationship with the protagonist is the best way to tell a tight yet impactful story. We can of course have other villains show up and make appearances, but as this question is asking us how many primary villains there are, I think one is more than enough. In terms of the tone of the show, I think if we want to portray the seriousness of the social issues we are highlighting then we will need to approach it with a certain amount of seriousness that does not trivialize it or downplay it. Marvel has done well with humor, and I am not saying not to include it as Luke Cage of all characters has plenty of comedic and quippy lines, but if we want to focus on the ideological angle of the struggle between the two characters, then we will need to lean towards a more balanced, or even more serious approach here.

While I didn't mind the canon OTL approach to Luke Cage, it's execution felt off as Diamondback, while certainly threatening to Luke in the show, never possessed the same gravitas as Cottonmouth did. If we were to use him I don't think having him act as the shadow villain in the background, in the mold of Kingpin, is something that would work well, especially if we want to tell a very concentrated story and focus. That's why I'm only going for Cottonmouth as Diamondback dilutes the themes a little too much.

Anyways, that's my thoughts.

[X] [Foes] Black Mariah. Mariah Dillard has no superpowers, but she's a powerful criminal with a lot of influential connections.
[X] [Foes] Cottonmouth. Another Kingpin with some ties to Luke's comic origin story. Some versions of him have razor sharp teeth.
[X] [Foes] Diamondback. Luke's former best friend who framed him, Willis Stryker is a master of knife fighting and other gadgets.
[X] [Foes] Chemistro. One of Luke's recurring foes could be dangerous for his use of chemical weapons, bypassing Luke's invincibility.
[X] [Foes] Mister Fish. One of Luke's sillier foes was mutated into a fish by falling into the East River with a shipment of special isotopes.
[X] [Foes] Nightshade. Born into poverty in Harlem, Tilda Johnson is extremely intelligent but has been forced into a life of crime.
[X] [Foes] Shades and Comanche. Two Harlem thugs who knew Luke Cage in Seagate prison and suffered under similar poor treatment.
[X] [Foes] The Wrecking Crew. A rather silly band of four supervillains, they could be enhanced by the same experiment as Luke.

[X] [Count] You don't want your focus to get too split. Only one primary villain is necessary.
[X] [Count] Two villains will show Luke's situation to be more complicated than "just punch him."

[X] [Tone] You want to keep this light and upbeat, but still working in some moments of drama.
[X] [Tone] Shoot for an even mix of light and darkness. Comedy and drama in equal amounts.

It doesn't properly show up on the Task vote tally.

If people want to use your plan, then they can just put in [] "User Name" and their votes will show up same as yours in the task tally.

P.S. ninjaed

Anyway, a Moon Knight show could be pretty damn interesting, and his specific brand of crazyness means a show were you can play a lot with what the viewer knows.

Also, @Charcolt could you tell us if Stan Lee made a cameo in the Daredevil series? I think that we should give him the chance to appear at least once in each season of our series.

Soooooo Daredevil, Heroes for Hire, Journey into Mystery, S.H.I.E.L.D., New Warriors, Inhumans, Teenage Based Superhero Show,
Damage Control, Moon Knight, and the Hood?

That gives us 2 more slots if we release a show every month. Given that list, I'd probably add Cloak and Dagger as a romance based show, and then Hercules as an exploratory, wandering series where he looks for purpose.

It wouldn't have a super villain, just an immortal man trying to find peace and passion - one he'd never had, and the other he'd lost long ago. Give it some fights, sure, but make the focus be on Hercules himself and the character, along with the people he meets along the way.
