Since we currently have Ghost Rider and Luke Cage as part of the Sony-Verse, we need to capitalize on it and use them in the next two years if we want any chance of keeping their film rights, meaning that we need to postpone releasing Spider-Man 2 until 2013 at the earliest. But before we go decide which one, we need to have a discussion how they help with our current worldbuilding, and toward that end, here's my proposal of a loose outline of what the in-SpiderVerse timeline should look like:
Spider-Man 1 -> Luke Cage -> Spider-Man 2 -> Black Cat -> Spider-Man 3 / Sinister Six
___________________________________ -> Ghost Rider
Here's what I figure, given that we want our Sinister Six to be the first Supervillain teamup movie but we also don't want to overcrowd the Spider-Man movies with too many villains, that we use the Ghost Rider, Luke Cage and Black Cat movies as a backdoor to justify their presence in the teamup. [It is also why I'd like to tender a suggestion to have Spider-Man 3 and Sinister Six to act as a two part finale to our Phase I, to help actually build up the villains introduced in SM3.]
For that reason, my suggestion is for Luke Cage's debut villain to either be Tombstone or Chemistro, with a Mafia leader running shit in the background. Tombstone, while nominally a Spider-Man/Daredevil villain, can be set up to be a dark mirror to Cage and help flesh out a bit of NYC's criminal underground; helps that he's actually
been a part of the Sinister Six [6]. And Chemistro, arguably Luke's archenemy in any form, can be used to help create social commentary on the matter of income inequality; it doesn't hurt we can use him to continue setting up OsCorp as the ones ultimately repsonsible for the current state of the SonyVerse NYC. Either Kingpin or Cottonmouth would work here, with Mister Negative and/or Hammerhead introduced as opposing factions; could prove to be useful later down the road, for a potential Gang War storyline.
Black Cat's should be the
Rose, feeding into her vendetta against the Mafia and to keep it in the Heist genre. However, it shouldn't be Richard Fisk at this point, as Kingpin hasn't been a main focus as of yet, which would undermine his character a bit, and instead I propose that we go with Roderick Kingsley as the Rose [as Tom DeFalco wanted to do during his run of the character]; this way, we can even connect him to Mysterio, changing his origins from a fashion designer to a prop master to better sell the idea that they're partners.
Since it's a little early to whip out Mephisto straight out the gate as the BBEG to defeat in the first movie, and to continue using this as a backdoor the Sinister Six, the first opponent should Mysterio. Here, Quentin Beck made a bid for greater recognition and success made a deal with
Deathwatch, who gave him exactly what he wanted...at a price; Quentin survives the end of the movie, only by the hand of mercy, when Ketch exorcises him of the demon's taint, but given his activities it leaves him with a ticket to prison.
With that out of the way, this still leaves us three-to-four more slots to fill for the Sinister Six, which can be decided by the other Spider-Man scripts; as you know, my suggestions for two of them are already Kraven and Rhino [
SM2-draft].
There's a few other ideas I'd like to share, such as having Sinister Six being a Prison Breakout movie from the perspective of the villains, that it should tease a few of the villains of the next phase (such as Venom and Green Goblin), and that George Stacy is running wild in the background dealing with all of this nonsense, making him our version of Fury. It's all a rough ideas, I know, and hinges a lot on our new acquisitions, but it's a start and we don't got a lot of time to make something with them.
We can sell web thrower toys ...
why does our spiderman have them right?
We forgot to write it into the plot, so...maybe? I hope so, I like seeing Inventor Parker [
