The had a bigger issue with the body cam, and not the medical chip? Wow..

Ever Jedi on the master's council is a fucking idiot. That body cam thing could have been turned into a galactic coop for them.

Well, that's the one Chun and the Anti-Jedi Senators were the least sure about getting passed. The medical chip to the upper arm is being pitched as not just a locator, but a handy source of diagnostic data for field medicine. Whereas the body cam thing is seen as a direct, blatant violation of privacy.

Ever Jedi on the master's council is a fucking idiot. That body cam thing could have been turned into a galactic coop for them.

Well, that depends on how they're used.

CHUN: "Increased oversight from the Senate Judicial Committee, for one. A revocation of the Order's prior claim on all veins of cortosis ore in Republic Space. A return to some of Chancellor Sauro's regulations that Farr and Dooku repealed. Requiring all Jedi Generals to wear body cameras while in combat zones, though we're willing to negotiate on that one. And most importantly, a law requiring all Jedi combatants to be tagged with medical chips for tracking and real-time medical analysis."

This is pretty concerning for the Jedi. Cortosis is one of the few metal that can break Lightsaber blades, if its made easy to access the number of anti-jedi weapons on the galaxy will increase.

DAMASK: "And you're certain that the mandatory tracking medchips are the most important provision."

CHUN: "And... I'm certain that the mandatory tracking medchips are the most important provision. No question. Absolutely crucial, in fact."

Huh, wonder what Chun would have said here if it wasn't for Plagueis's mind trick.

DAMASK: "You are angry, Ms. Folee."

FOLEE: "N-no... yes! Yes! I-- I AM angry! Damn straight I'm angry! Why shouldn't I be angry, when this soft-handed bureaucrat sits there in judgement of the best thing to ever happen to the galaxy!? He should be on his kriffing knees, thanking the Jedi that they--"

Oh look another mind trick. Plagueis clearly wants the opposition to this bill to seem unreasonable, and to possibly hurt the Ranger's public image. They are one of the Jedi's most loyal allies, reducing their ability to act would likely help in a theoretical Order 66 situation.

But think of how this veto would look to the average galactic citizen. The Chancellor, a Jedi himself, vetoing legislation that would place the Jedi under greater scrutiny? He would appear to be using the Chancery to reinforce the privileges of the Jedi Order, a serious conflict of interest. In my opinion, the Chancellor should recuse himself from using his veto and let the Senate debate freely."

Well if they weren't thinking that before they sure are now. A clever move to prevent Dooku from being able to use the Veto without tanking his public image.

And only Dooku is aware of Damask being Plagueis. He almost certainly realizes that Plagueis was influencing Chun and Folee with the Dark Side, but he still can't bring himself to tell the rest of the Jedi about Plagueis...

Because that would naturally lead to the question of why, if he knew that the Sith were still around (the Jedi are still on the fence about Maul), and that Hego Damask was the Dark Lord, why he didn't say anything sooner. Which leads into all sorts of nasty things Dooku's done: aiding in the assassination of Adi Gallia, passing sensitive information to the Sith, blowing up the Senate and framing the RLF. Which would in turn require Dooku to admit that he made a mistake, which he would never, ever do.

That body cam sounds like a huge security risk, for high level military personnel to be wearing in a war zone!?! I'm surprised republic intelligence didn't have whoever came up with it shot. And can you imagine the enemy getting access to the chips tracking data?

Technically, if the clones are still chipped, it could be possible to point out that having medical chips implanted for those involved in combat situations is also a very good thing to begin with. Having an easier way to check physical conditions for battlefield medicine would be a godsend in a lot of those situations.

The tracking part could be a separate one, but there are two Jedi already gone rogue on the galaxy, one who has lost his mind and the other is waging an unauthorized guerilla war

I never liked the whole clones being chipped being a factor. I preferred the original explanation that the clones were just bred and made to fight and die a war, pretty much just being biological droids. The fact that they developed personalities leads to the further moral query of the Jedi using 'biological droids' that CAN develop self-thinking. Just making it be 'they were actually brainwashed' cheapens the whole clone storyline into making them just be unwilling servants. With the clones being Cad Bane instead of Jango Fett, I'm not sure which variant is being used here though.

Agreed. The whole concept that they chose to follow Order 66 due to strict adherence to the chain of command and authority rather than being forced to struck me as better. It makes Order 66 more tragic, especially with how fast the Clones turn on their Jedi commanders.

Many did not like/want to do it but they saw no choice. Orders are orders.

I prefer the Disney version as I find that more tragic.

I concur-the whole chip thing was created because they wanted to give the clones "personality" in TCW and then couldn't explain how Rex and Co. would shoot their Jedi friends.

And the thing is AOTC makes it clear they are basically conditioned and brainwashed from birth to obey orders without question or hesitation. So they are droids in essence.

Plus, he doesn't have proof. I'm sure Hego has taken steps to avoid being Force sensed, meaning..... What proof does Dooku have that this guy, a well known philanthropist and such, is this Dark Lord?

The relevance for all this being that in this fic, the Cad Bane clones are not fitted with any sort of mind-control chips that will force them to carry out Order 66. Their ingrained obedience via their training and howlrunner genetics mean that they will follow the "pack hierarchy" (military chain of command) no matter what. If the higher-ups say the Jedi need to die, then so be it-- but some of them might feel kinda bad about it.

Keep in mind, though, that this whole debate is assuming that Order 66 will even exist in the form you're thinking it will, or even occur at all-- an ambiguity I'm not planning on resolving until we actually get to Plagueis' big endgame. Trust me, it's too good for me to even give hints about.

The mind tricks are real in this fic.

Sorry, what was I saying? Oh yeah: the clones in this story don't have control chips. Sorry if that peeves you.

What is the estimate of the Clones now, YeahOkayCool?

It was 1,200,000 when the Rim-Core War began but after a couple of years of war what is it's size now? And how many Clones would be in the second wave? 3,000,000?

Well once the Rim Confederation actually started showing they knew how to conduct a guerilla war and could turn any planet the Republic tried to take into a meat grinder, the Republic decided that more clones were pretty badly needed. The original "batch" of 1,200,000 was matched in 21 BBY, driving it up to 2,400,000. The budget Dooku and the Senate were fighting over called for an additional 2 million more.

So by the end of this year the total number of clones will be sitting around 4.5 million, still divided into the four army groups. And this isn't even counting all the non-clone recruits and volunteers that are still joining up for the Republic Navy and the various sector defense forces.
