I came across this on SB and came here to satisfy my voracious hunger for more. I even hunted down my SV account details!

I appreciate the contrast of this Dooku to canon Dooku.

Canon Dooku fell to the Dark Side, abandoned the Jedi to the point that he has turned against his own former mentor, and led a Seccesionist Force against the Government he once served.

This Dooku rejected the Dark Side, has stuck with the Jedi in an attempt to redeem himself to the after getting on the council through the inadvertently caused death of a comrade, and is leading the Republic against an Seccesionist Force.

It's beautiful.

I registered here just to comment on this fic.

I absolutely love it! The plot is gripping, the established characters are perfectly IC. and the decisions they took based on how their fates changed are 100% believable. I also love your writing style.

It is epic. Absolutely epic. I could not stop reading.

By the way, I have no idea if you posted the fic anywhere else, or if you plan to, but some of the popular places to post SW fanfiction (to boost the number of your readers) are fanfiction.net, theforce.net messaging boards, and archiveofourown.org. The last one is still in beta so you need an invitation to get it. As of this moment, I have 7 ivitations to give away and all of my friends already have an account so... If you're interested just send me your email adress in a private message.

Wow, thank you very much for the compliment! This fic is the first writing I've ever put out for public viewing, so it's very gratifying to hear that so many people like it. It's really put new inspiration in me to pursue my original fiction.

I also post this fic on SpaceBattles as I update it, and I might consider posting it on fanfiction.net. I originally considered posting it on theforce.net, but I couldn't figure out their insanely complicated era-based tagging system and gave up. As for anarchiveofourown, well I'm flattered, but the email I connect to SV with is connected to my IRL identity, and I don't feel comfortable giving it away. So thank you very much for the offer, but I'll have to decline.

Really, the interest I get on this fic and The Gardener's Tale is more than I ever dreamed of, and I'm content with my current level of exposure. Thank you, though.

I'm trying to think of what I can add to all the other comments here, especially after taking the time to actually log onto this Forum. But suffice to say, your fic is excellent. As others have mentioned, the characters are very believable, and there is enough ambiguous in between some of the other details to make things incredibly interesting.

The place where you left off at feels like another cliffhanger. Will Plagueis keep his promise to Borea, and not kill Anakin after after getting their children in his possession? Will Borea's own usefulness eventually come to an end? Was it really that easy for Borea to get access to Dooku's black box, or does our gentleman friend from Serenno have one last surprise for our other esteemed friend Darth Plagueis? Will Plagueis himself eventually overstretch himself with his plans? Will Darth Tenebrous' maxichlorians rear their ugly heads, or did they already miss their chance what with Plagueis' experiments with Vong biots? Do our Chiss friends have a stake in the Civil War going on through one Ms. Tann, and is there some coordination with them and Plagueis given that the Ascendancy has encountered these "Far Outsiders" before? Has Jango Fett asked for a steep price for his expert mercenary services: including one Mandalorian clone of himself despite the love for hybrid Duros these days? And what is our favourite stone-cold psychopath Cad Bane up to now that the Howlers are up and running?

And so many things. I love Nom Anor being here: having in retrospect been one of the best characters to happen to the New Jedi Order series. And Dooku would have made an excellent Chancellor in so many ways. I wonder if, having temporarily stepped away from the Jedi Order for his political duties, if he seized his title as Count to gain access to Serenno's wealth? That might have helped him deal with a lot of the financial ... issues in which he currently finds himself embroiled. I also get the idea that you have more of a cast to play. I know you are never going to confirm which Handmaiden of Padme's became Amidala in her place, though it is a nice thought experiment to consider whom would be that zealously patriotic or opportunistic.

And isn't it ironic that Lady Borea and Anakin seem to have more a healthier relationship than Anakin and Padme ever did? Possibly one that could even survive her revelation of being a Sith ... unless that is not in the Sabacc cards?

Damn. This fic. Suffice to say, I look forward to reading more. And thank you for writing this intricate piece of glorious Star Wars repolitik.

Fuck, I didn't notice the Alert said 12 Words instead of 12k Words.
I hate it when my shitty eyesight gives me false hope.
But anyway, YOC, take your time. Rest is more important than writing.

Hey you mind if I use the characters in your fic for a crossover?

None of them are my own original characters (yes, Jabitha is an actual character in Legends) and I have no rights to Star Wars anyway, so if you wanted to do a crossover without my consent I wouldn't have a legal leg to stand on. That said, it was very kind and flattering of you to ask me if I was okay with it. Go nuts.

What are you thinking of for a crossover, if I may ask?

Jabitha and Plagueis being thrusted into the Disney canon around the start of Star Wars Rebels? Jabitha would want to go home to her kids Anakin but Plagueis is open to staying both he's fascinated by the differences universes (such as twi'lek's homeworld climate is very different from Legends and they can also have offspring with humans and he would love to dissec... study that fact:whistle:) and he wants to take over the Empire.

Palpatine: FUCK OFF! I JUST GOT RID OF YOU, DAMN IT!

JABITHA: "Wait, so I have to time-travel by walking into a painting? Did I get trapped in one of the Twins' fairy tales or some shit? This dimension sucks."

I kind of want to see System Mastery's bizarro version of Palpatine hanging out with Plagueis and eventually getting killed when he embezzles billions from Plagueis' research accounts so he can build a giant museum of every arcade and fun-a-rama in the galaxy, complete with working games machines. He tried to apologize with a rack of BBQ ribs, but then Plagueis strangled him with his own "Kiss the Cook" apron.

If you're in the mood for more Jango Fett I recommend Star Wars: Age Of The Republic - Jango Fett (2019) #1 and I have to say I really enjoy the issue especially how Jango and Boba are depicted also...

Aww look how chibi Boba is.:D

So I found this story's page over on TvTropes and have just finished powering through the 30-odd chapters. Love it, love the changes and how they've rippled out from one point.

Looking forward to what happens next,

Thanks for writing this.

Hey cool! Still catching up, but I'm going to post my first few responses now, so I don't forget anything.
The current state of the galaxy was the culmination of centuries of planning. For a thousand years the Order of the Sith Lords had kept to the shadows, slowly building our strength and working to subvert the Republic and Jedi from within. Where the Sith of old wore armor, we wore cloaks.
Tense change - 'had' should be 'has'.
Machines require resources to construct, but any animal can create another of its kind.
This seems like a pretty glaring oversimplification for someone so well-versed in the sciences. I think his point is that machinery needs infrastructure - cooperation, on other words - and is thus more interchangeable?
EDIT: Less. I meant to say less interchangeable.
Sidious as Palpatine had won...
Something I've learned only this past year: Wall-of-text is about layout, not wordcount, because the problem is when the reader doesn't have enough visual anchors to keep their place if their eyes waver.
Which is to say that this paragraph was too long for 'justify' text.
I laughed mirthlessly. "Not in the sense you're thinking of. You are certainly powerful in the Force, and if your mental barriers were sufficiently broken down I'm sure you would make a powerful Dark Jedi. But you are no Sith. No Jedi can ever truly embrace and dominate the Force as we do, the very language your kind are indoctrinated to use when speaking about the Force prevents it. Training you as a Sith would only make you a lukewarm darksider, as opposed to one of the Jedi Order's best. It would be a waste of your talents."
Huh. "You could be a powerful Fallen Paladin, but you'll never be a Cleric" is not how I'd expect that to work, but I suppose it might be down to his age and Plagueis' disinterest. Have there ever been any Light Sith?
"Jedi and Sith need not be enemies, Dooku," I reminded him quietly, puncturing the silence. A stable galaxy is in both our interests."
And here is where I think Dooku should've asked what Maul was doing. Not with honest suspicion - he has enough motivation to accept an excuse - but just as a matter of principle.

Glad to see you like it! I'll address most of your points presently:

Okay, yeah. It's good that you edited that, because it was a bit confused. Yes, Plagueis is basically saying that sentient beings will replicate and reproduce themselves without prompting, meaning they are so common as to be virtually worthless-- unless of course they can benefit the Sith.

Huh. It looks fine on my screen when I bring it up-- it takes up maybe a third of the screen at max. Dunno what to tell you.

That depends on the choices you make during the Sith Warrior/Inquisitor classes in SWTOR, and possibly if you take Lumiya at her word when she discusses Darth Vectivus (NOTE: there is no reason to trust Lumiya, for any reason).

That's a fair point. Though I'd point out that Dooku probably isn't thinking perfectly clearly in this scene, considering he was literally brought back from the brink of death by a Sith Lord. He's a bit overawed at the fact that he's still alive.

Rest assured, he starts asserting himself soon enough.

I was able to read it, it was just a bit tougher than I'd have liked. Partly because my screen isn't huge.

Hmm. That's certainly interesting, at any rate. Is there a clearly-demarked difference between "light side energy" and "dark side energy" in this continuity?

It's complicated. All my SW continuities steal borrow heavily from Matthew Stover's novels, in which he takes a Taoist/Jungian approach to the Force where the Force is one thing that both reflects and amplifies the emotions of those using it. People give Traitor a lot of shit, but Shatterpoint articulates the same idea of the Force in a much less Vergerian way:

"His inner darkness is the reflection of the darkness of his world; and it darkens the world around him. Internal and external darkness create each other: that is underlying unity of the Force."

But is this how Plagueis and the other characters view the Force? Maybe, maybe not.

I have always really liked that kind of idea for the Force. "The Force is what you make it" is basically what it boils down to. Even the Precognition that Force Users are capable of is, in my view, an extension of that.

The Force touches everything, which reflects back into the Force. Precognition is the ability to read that echo or reflection of the world, and...not force, as few can force the Force do anything, but guide or allow the Force to flow to your desired result. The longer-range precog that the Jedi are famous for is about reading the "average" path for that reflection, and following that until you arrive at your answer. Thus, the Force is an interaction between the Subconscious, or dream of all life, and the natural forces (Daos is a known way of describing them in Cultivation novels), as guided by that subconscious dream and a few "lucid dreamers", or Force Users.
