The Quest for Middle Earth (LotR Quest)

3 - Five year skip
Mini update
You are decidedly untalented at fighting. Maybe you should just become a scholar instead, or find a way to deal with your enemies that doesn't involve direct combat; hidden traps and sneak attacks might work.

You're clearly about average at crafting though, neither showing any special talent or preference in skill. If you put concerted effort into some area then you might be able to make something of one of those skills.

Lore and runes is where you really shine though. You devoured as much of the common lore of Arda as you could. You weren't quite as good at the studying the lore of your own race, but you felt that you lacked the proper context in which to put it in without knowing more about the world in which you lived first.

You did go hunting for secrets in the halls of the Blacklocks Clan, in fact you found some forgotten storehouses and a caved in tunnel entrance, but aside from some discarded items of no real value you didn't find anything.

How do you spend the next five years?

You get 5 training actions per year, totaling 25 slots possible.

[ ] Melee weapons
[ ] Unarmed
[ ] Ranged weapons
[ ] Smithing
[ ] Jeweling
[ ] Leatherworking
[ ] Runes
[ ] General Lore
[ ] Dwarven Lore
[ ] Deception and disguise (with your mother)
[ ] Write in

Plus 1 free action per year, totaling 5

[ ] Look for hidden things and secrets
[ ] Search for special trainer
[ ] Look for other children to play with
[ ] Spend time with your mother
[ ] Write in

[X] Plan Yonatan
[ ] Runes x 5
[ ] General Lore x 5
[ ] Dwarven Lore x 5
[ ] Deception and disguise (with your mother) x 3
[ ] Smithing x 3
[ ] Jeweling x 4
[ ] Look for hidden things and secrets x 3
[ ] Look for other children to play with
[ ] Spend time with your mother

Reasoning:

I say we give up on fighting. We can spend a ton of time trying to be an average fighter, or we can spend our time to do something unique - a smart, capable and deceptive dwarf, who knows where to find lost and valguble things and how to get them.

Unanimous for Plan Yonatan! You know, I've noticed in other quests that Yonatan gets a lot of votes for his plans, more than can really be explained by having them just be good plans. I suspect that his spoiler-format followed by reasoning style makes things seem simpler and more appealing than they are.

Rolls
5d100+20+20 Runes 303+200=503
5d100+20+20 General Lore 198+200=398
5d100+20+20 Dwarven Lore 192+200=392
3d100+20 Deception and disguise 225
3d100 Smithing 210
4d100 Jeweling 71
3d100+10+10 Secrets event 58, 38, 94
1d100 Look for other children to play with 63
1d100 Spend time with your mother 32

Obviously the buffs carry over to each of the separate dice in each category, so even if we got a nat-0 on runes every time we'd still get 200 just from the collective buffs.

Its the Bandwagon effect: First reasonable and nice-looking plan gets picked alot usualy. In other quests when I dont vote first but someone else gets a good vote first, theirs' is usualy bandwagoned.

Its how these things work :)

I did well with General Lore last time, let's see if my luck holds out again.
Corvus Black threw 5 100-faced dice. Reason: General Lore Total: 198
58 58 32 32 81 81 11 11 16 16

I think it safe to say our talents truly lie with the Runes. Both rolls have been good to us so far, we cannot say the same about the rest.

I just now figured out how the dice on here works, I've been using RolzRoom.
yinko threw 3 100-faced dice. Reason: Secrets and Loot Total: 130
38 38 18 18 74 74

Well, it appears something's broken on my end in that case, because I certainly can't find anything to do with dice. I'll just have to wait for other people to roll their dice then... :(
