The Quest for Middle Earth (LotR Quest)

Why not spoiler it? People who do pay attention to them may easily miss it.
Never actually done spoilers, plus those a giant blue attention seeking buttons, way worse than plain white text. I know of lots of stories that put actual story critical information in invisi-text, this is just background information. But I get what you're saying, I'll make it a lighter grey.

Ah, that's much better. People who want to know can see it but people who don't can still gloss over it. Cheers, Mate.

@yinko glad to have you back and that you're feeling better!:)

now on to dwarfa-mafia empire!

[x] Stay out of the way, on the streets, and make your own way (mafia, adventure option)
[x] Work on runic bands to increase growth rate through puberty. Increased height, +5 speed, +social with Men, almost eliminates the chance that anyone will find out you are an outcast dwarf.

[x] Easterling language (tongue of the Variags)
[x] Deception and disguise on the streets
[x] Find a smithy to specialize your skills to
- [x] Locksmithing (locks and lockpicks)

reasoning:
-really wanted to create a criminal empire in LOTR universe
-much better disguise than continuing as a dwarf
-let's learn the language of our clients/victims
-let's improve our disguise some more before starting our operations
-let's start by being sneaky burglars rather than being thugs and bandits.

[X] Work on runic comb to erode curse. Starting neutrality from dwarves, have the same social rolls as a dwarf would with other races, +beard.

[X] Survivalism outside the walls

[X] Find a smithy to specialize your skills to
- [X] Specialized tools (varies from runic inscribers to assassination tools and traps, anything that is small and precise)

[X] Try to find a specialist to apprentice you (only areas good enough to entice a master to let you apprentice)
-[X] Smithing

[X] Work on runic comb to erode curse. Starting neutrality from dwarves, have the same social rolls as a dwarf would with other races, +beard.
Doing both gets rid of the reason for doing either, so it's an either-or situation.

A dwarf without a beard is disgusting.
There is only one that can pull it of.

So... you guys are hoping to sell this stuff or something? Make a living as a weapon's smith and armorer? Because there is a prohibitive amount of work you'd need to do before you could really do much of anything with weapons and armor yourself. With the exception of sneak attacks and assassinations, as they don't trigger a combat situation.

Streets - 5
Smith - 2

Band - 4
Comb - 3

Easterling - 5
Deception - 4
Tools - 4
Locks - 3
Weapons - 2
Armor - 2
Survivalism - 1

Right then. The needed rolls are
[x] Initial luck on the streets of the city 1d100 55
[x] Runic bands of gigantism 1d100+10 61+10=71
[x] Easterling 1d100 44
[x] Deception 1d100+10 81+10=91
[x] Smithing: tools 1d100 (diversified skills start at rank Average) 39+10=49

I did want to ask the readers something. So my plan originally was to have the combat and crafting skills be general, and then give you the option to specialize them when you reached Average, that's what's happening right now with Smithing. Disguise and Deception is your basic rogue skill, but I can't really see it evolving into stealth, pickpocketing, assassination, etc. It'd also be kind of mean to force you start at Horrendus for those skills that you are probably going to be using most. Is there some specific way you want to do this? I could take the points from skills that seem to relate to those Rogue type skills and then average them to produce the approximate amount of knowledge that he would have .
