This will be an awkward conversation. Though to Tenten's credit she will likely realize it will be an issue. She just sucks at solving the issues.
Yeah, we're going to need that Presence Excellency.
Though I doubt she was important enough to be more than an unpleasant memory; nothing as strong as an Intimacy.

*checks*
Wait, we already qualify for Sagacious Reading of Intent, which is an E1 Linguistics charm with no prereq.
Excellent.
As far as Kin knows, yes he is.
Whoops, he dead.
I doubt it will occur to anyone IC to do something about him before Orochimaru volunteers him for Edo Tensei sacrifices.
And unlike Kin, he hasn't stumbled on a, and will have much stronger negative feelings towards Konoha after he got Shino'd.

Besides, I get the impression he and Kin aren't at all close.
Seeing as how Zaku softened the ground to catch Dosu after Lee hit him, but when Kin was Mind-Body Switch'd by Ino, she simply got blasted.
Yes, it was. Though that was A) Mostly Dosu and B) Kin is not exactly thinking rationally about this.
True, and true.

you know, as fucked up as kins situation is, it's kind of business as normal for most ninja villages. They are sacrificing a random team of inexperienced ninjas as part of a large ploy, such things are likely fairly common. I mean even konoha murdered an entire clan down the the children and noncombatants because a moderated response to the rebellion might have caused a loss of face. Ninja politics are bloody and brutal, hopefully we can get strong enough to change that.

I mean, A) That's not public knowledge, and B) That was Danzo's doing, and Danzo is a fucking nutjob.

True.

Man, Dosu sounds (pun intended) like such a cool guy. I wish he wasn't dead.

I haven't actually seen anyone go with a Danzo is a Nutter angle yet.

Besides, I get the impression he and Kin aren't at all close.

Dosu was just that great of a guy.

Didn't think ahead and realize 'oh, snake fucker might kill my team without me', but we all make mistakes.

At least I know who I'm going to ressurect if the opportunity presents itself. Sorry Hayate.

Also, lets save Zaku! All we have to do is beat up pale face!

(If I was an SI, I would be instantly killed by annoying my opponents)

personally i think EVERYBODY does. (except that one where he's a butler) it's just that his breed of fuck-buggering insanity mostly expresses itself through paranoia and extreme reactions, so he doesn't appear to be insane until you take a look at all the shit he's done.

EVERYONE thinks Danzo is a nutter; that's canon.

The prospect of Danzo becoming Hokage made Nara Shikaku the lazy go scrambling for an alternative candidate, and got Kakashi to volunteer.
Outside Konoha, other villages, including Kumo, the village that is best known for twice trying to kidnap Konoha genin for their special chakra(Kushina) and special eyeballs(Hinata) call Danzo The Darkness of The Shinobi World.

And that's without them knowing of half the things he'd done at the time.

wait, I thought the Hokage was pressured into signing off on the extermination? I mean it was Danzo's idea, but I don't think it was one of the times where he was going off the reservation, he just managed to convince everyone to go along with his plans.

also the point is that konoha is in universe the least bloodthirsty and ruthless village, and they still do some fucked up shit from time to time. I mean yeah Danzo is behind a lot of it, but they knew what kind of monster he was and kept him around, so that isn't much of a mitigating factor. If the nice guy has that many skeletons in his closet, what does that say about everyone else?

Nope.
It was under consideration, I think; Danzo jumped the gun, sabotaged other efforts and manipulated events so as to come about with that result.
Dude was even dealing with Tobi/Madara back then; see Naruto 474 page 12, where Tobi greets him with long time no see.
Evil old man did a lot of questionable shit.

Yeah, the Hokage signed off on it, but Danzo was implied to be pushing it forward and I think he sunk Shisui's plan to stop it bloodlessly by killing him and stealing his eye (which allowed him to subtly control minds so it s possible that Hiruzen wasn't acting entirely of his own will when he did sign off on it). Root was still a legitimate group before the coup, but they soon were disbanded because Hiruzen was unhappy with something Danzo did, which I've heard theorized was the fact that the entire clan was wiped out, not just the traitors (this one I'm more uncertain on and Madara/Obito's involvement complicate matters). There was also the that time he aided Hanzo in killing off Yahiko, and they were trying to lead a peaceful group. And this is just the stuff we hear about in canon, he was likely doing many similarly dark things the rest of his time. So there are definitely some reasons (read: being involved with/assisting pretty much literally every problem in the series that wasn't Madara's fault) why people (even in-universe)would think that guy had taken his paranoia train a little too far into crazy town.

Edit: Shinobi'd and apparently he was even worse than I remembered. Great guy that Danzo :V. In totally unrelated news, does anyone with better exalted fu than me (not hard) know what charm(s) we can get to not get whamied by a Kotakatsumi?

For that, we'd want Elusive Dream Defence or Spirit-Maintaining Maneuver. Here's the first bit of EDD's writeup:

Like a dream slipping from a waking man's grasp, the Solar eludes others' attempts to chain his mind. The Solar uses this Charm in response to an attempt at mental influence, be it natural or unnatural. In addition to its core effects, this Charm perfectly negates that attempt at influence.

And here is SMM's:
The Solar Exalted draw on their unwavering desire and intention to survive sustained mental assault. This Charm allows the Exalt to refuse unnatural mind control effects and Virtue compulsions at a reduced Willpower cost.

-[X] He might be... alright, he is an overly emotional madman, but he knows when to be serious. Besides, he always knows exactly what to say to help someone. And frankly? Someone weeping because they think they're not strong enough to be worth anything? Kind of right up his alley.

Blow Willpower.
No UMI charm has ever cost more than 5WP to break, and Kotoamatsukami is basically mindcontrol, which is very potent in the Narutoverse, but was a bread and butter problem for Exalts in Creation.
Later we might look into other charms like those mentioned above.

Though it's a bit more spammable than Creation's equivalents I think?

Have to wonder what's his internal logic on all that.

Kotoamatsukami is once in ten years.
Danzo shortened the recharge time, due to all the Senju stuff he had pumped into his body, but even he can't use it twice in a day.

So if it came to a UMI contest, the shinobi would be fucked.

We'll never know, I guess.
Don't think Kishi was ever interested enough, or had the time, to build him up properly.

Looking at the wiki, it appears to be a mix of Shaping and UMI, which fits in with the other high level Mangekyo Sharingan powers warping reality. Apparently, the technique works by adding false experiences, which make the target they are doing whatever the command is of their own free will. So maybe IPP would work against it?

-[x] "We need to get you somewhere safe." - you say, mentally running out through your options. Where would she be safest? Your house could work, but you're not sure you could keep her away from her sensei if he came knocking. Neji is out of the question, Lee is... and while Sakura could work, she wouldn't be able to do much to a jounin either.
That only leaves one option - you hope you can convince her of it.
"My- My sensei could work." Seeing her terrified expression, you quickly continue. "He is a... strange man, and sometimes - almost always, actually - a bit too driven, but he is one of the best persons I know, and an incredibly talented ninja who could keep you - us - safe if someone tries to force you back."
"I- I'm not gonna force you to go or anything, and I'd be happy to keep you company even if you don't want to go, but..."
You take her hand, and do your best to try to smile.
"So? Should we go?"

Voting for this, because there's no need to promise Gai won't ask questions - and he almost certainly will. We clear the bar of "this is a good idea" by not killing her, we don't need to embellish to that degree.

Unless we're lying deliberately?

From the manga after zaku lost He said their only thing in comun was the mission but He wolud avenger him anyway.

From that we can quess thery Team was made only to test sasuke and aven't meet before. Or in sound they teach to think of they fellow non ha as tool and not firends.

Other people have mentioned good examples, but I'll also point out Sarutobi was "pressured" in the sense of "He only found out after it had happened and Itachi came to report his success to him"
