*Sigh* Well, there goes 99% of anything in any way Wuxia like.
I think it says something that the "most fanservice-y" of Tenten's canon outfits (her Boruto: The Movie one), was basically a sleeveless dress that ended just above her knees and (non-sheer) stockings.

Though unfortunately yes, it does rule out a lot of Wuxia stuff. But then I was never the biggest fan of those types of designs (Burn in hell female 2e Exalted character designs, burn in hell)

Te Presence specialty seems... I don't know. A Performance Specialty for [Swords] or [Battle] might be better as all I can really see that doing as a Presence specialty is upping intimidation when we have a sword on or around us. Which isn't too bad I guess actually. Might want to wait until we have a rep to actually make use of it though so its dramatically appropriate.
Not necessarily.
Knife tricks when you're talking with someone could just enthrall them with our grace, or our taste in weapons.
Intimidation is only necessary if you want to intimidate someone.

One explosive tag, and he did not shrug that off. He tanked most of it and regenerated the rest over a minute or two.
It was in literal skin contact, and almost enclosed by sand, magnifying the impact, which is something you cannot count on.
Most explosive tags go off/are set to go off nearby because delayed fuses.
Don't get me wrong, we're going to get tons of mileage out of tags, but they're not the uber weapon du jour you're making them out to be.

EDIT
Deidara also used explosives, but his were smart weapons, and much more potent than tags.
We aren't matching the performance of an A-S class kinjutsu with tags.

Eh, she's 13-14.
At Shippuden's end, she's no older than 17; that automatically excludes most of the those anyway, even if they were appropriate for the area.
Which they aren't.

Not that I minded 2E's female designs, mind.
Besides some of the Infernal and Abyssal ones(why a hell-nun in Fantasy!Asia?)

... What?
Especially the Lunar designs WHYYYYYYY did they think it was a good idea to have that much fan service!
Artifact Armor! And Shapeshifing Waifus/Husbandos/Both-at-the-same-time! (I.E. They don't need the armor, so go crazy.)

For this battle they need to be. We need so many other things, our training schedule for the month is already hammered out and full.

Exalted has magitech, and depending on what's canon for this quest Naruto may have chakra armour.
We would probably need crafting charms for something like that. Other options are legendary armorsmith high in the mountains or a mysterious and dangerous set of ruins. Don't think we have time for those right now! Being able to shape metal by singing is pretty cool though.

Yeah, this is the other reason. She doesn't turn 18 until the right before the 4th Shinobi War. So yeah, that's also a thing. There's some leniency (since like, Ino still gets her canon outfits :V). Though, I doubt that would be something Tenten would even consider wearing, so it's kinda moot point.

That's Performance to me.
No it isn't.
It would only be Performance if that was the core of your action; if you're simply stunting off it, or using it to set the scene, it's not.

Carrying beautiful knives as a conversation starter would be an applicable use of Presence(Queen of Blades); wearing earrings in the form of daggers, likewise. Nail varnish embroidered with designs of multiple weapons.
Clothes with kusarigama embroidery in the margins. Meeting at the local weapons shop or museum of weapons.

It's all about how applicable you can make said specialty to your action.

I simply assumed that serious-face artifacts are not on the table in this quest; no evidence that anyone forges orichalcum here.
And we don't need them either; we have Glorious Solar Saber and Spirit Weapons in the Melee and Throwing trees.

Ditto armor; no one wears it, so it either doesn't exist or provides suboptimal protection.
Chakra armor looks like it requires entirely too much maintenance to be practical.
And Invincible Essence Reinforcement is a Resistance 1 charm.

Another option for soak would be going Sorcery with Invulnerable Skin of Bronze. Fuinjutsu could also help if we can work out appropriate seal components for a protective seal. Certainly there is defensive Ninjutsu.

Honestly, I would really like to work up chakra strings. And maybe artificing if we can swing it.

And while power armor isn't much of a thing in setting, that doesn't mean we can't take the idea behind puppets and pull the twist that Sasori did with a puppet you ride inside of.

@Crilltic is it possible to make a seal we can store ourselves inside of to control a puppet? Full environment and everything? Would be a hell of a way to travel.

So there is no charm we can use to ignore hardness?
Homebrew, from Ever-Cascading Torrents of Glory:
Armor-Cutting Chop
Cost: 1m; Mins: Melee 3, Essence 2; Type: Supplemental
Keywords: Combo-OK
Duration: Instant
Prerequisite Charms: Hungry Tiger Technique

Cowards who hide behind shields and armor find their defenses
undone by the superior skill of the Sun's Chosen. An attack
enhanced by this Charm ignores all Hardness from armor.
A second purchase of this Charm also allows the enhanced attack
to ignore up to (Essence x 2) points of its target's soak from
armor. This benefit is not cumulative with that of the Piercing
tag.
EDIT
Also, canon charm from Ink Monkeys
Sun-Sword Concentration
(Vol. 32)
Cost: 1m; Mins: Melee 3, Essence 2; Type: Supplemental
Keywords: Combo-OK, Martial-Ready, Mirror (All Blades Cry for Blood), Obvious
Duration: Instant
Prerequisite Charms: Hungry Tiger Technique
Replace the text of the Charm with the following:

Solar Essence superheats the Lawgiver's blade until it glows
cherry-red, burning hot enough to cleave through solid steel as
if it were air. An attack supplemented by this Charm gains the
Piercing tag and ignores all Hardness from armor. With Essence
3+, the Solar can pay an additional mote to ignore Hardness
from other sources.

Martial-Ready: Archery, Martial Arts, Thrown

New Abyssal Charm: All Blades Cry for Blood (Prerequisite
Charms: Savage Shade Style). The Abyssal's blade twists
through armor to taste the precious lifeblood beneath it. This
Charm is identical to its Solar counterpart.
So yeah, Hardness is hardly a barrier.
Punching through all that soak, though, especially if Gaara comes out with the Armor of Sand he used against Lee......

There's two Necromancy spells that provide cross-dimensional teleportation, and neither of them are tagged as or described as working by Shaping; one turns a mirror into a portal to the underworld, and one just sucks everyone and everything nearby that doesn't have a perfect dodge (and it does actually specify dodge) into a portal into the Labyrinth (it also kills the caster, but that's neither here nor there). There's also a Sidereal Charm that is effectively an uncontrolled teleport (Avoidance Kata) and that lacks the Shaping keyword, and Charms that make you intangible also don't necessarily have it (Sand-Through Fingers Defense specifically works by making you incorporeal, as an example).

Technically, all forms of teleportation in Exalted are Shaping effects directed at, and then by, Nirupadhika, the Shinma that governs spatial relationships. When you teleport, you're basically telling Nirupadhika that you are at point B rather than at point A, and Nirupadhika does the rest.

That's not true at all.

Like, any of it.

Tenten would do well with a pair of short daiklaves. Would they count for our knives specialty or does that only cover short knives like kunai?

...

I think this warrants resurrecting one of the classics.

Let's see now, I have it here somewhere... Ah, yes, here we go.

*ahem*

It'd need its own specialty.
Knives are more or less traditional for Tenten, and Spirit Weapons does allow her to produce exceptional weapons that are cross-applicable to Melee and Thrown both. Call The Blade > Spirit Weapons > Fiery Solar Chakram and she's wielding exceptional chiaroscuro knives with the Piercing tag, Ori MM bonus, +2 Acc, +2 Dmg and Overwhelming set to 3.

Or indeed, any [T]tagged weapon that costs Resources 2 or less; that includes chakram/shuriken, boomerangs, batons, clubs, javelins, hatchets and axes.

Additionally, all those weapons are DRM-locked; any attempts to use them by others and they simply dissolve.
Glorious Solar Saber and it's daiklave-equivalent weapons isn't really a priority until she gets an Overdrive charm, assuming that's a thing in this AU.

Since no one has thought to correct you yet I thought I should.
Ah.
Gaara has been here, and Gai asked for a favor.
That's why the guy with the Mokuton is playing guard dog.
The person Tenzo was talking about was likely Kakashi not Gai. Kakashi would have called Tenzo in because of his encounter with Kabuto at the hospital when he went to go pick up Sasuke for training. Now I'm not saying that Gaara didn't play a part in the increased security, all I'm saying is that we know Tenzo is friends with Kakashi because of their time in Ambu together. At best Gai would be an acquaintance, at worst he would be that weird guy who keeps "harassing" his Sempai.

Eh, even if Gai had no favors to call in with Tenzo, it's perfectly plausible that Gai called in a favor with Kakashi, who called in a favor with Tenzo.

I'd be pretty surprised if Tenzo and Gai had no meaningful previous interaction before now though.

You're probably right.
Depends on the timing though.
Do remember that Gaara showed up in the hospital and almost murdered Lee in his bed.
Not sure if that has happened yet in this AU, or if it's going to happen.

And we don't know whether Gai and Tenzo are acquaintances; they weren't in the same class.
But Gai is senior enough to be well aware of Tenzo.

It hasn't, in canon it happened the day before the Finals.

What happened was a combination of things. Kakashi called in a favor with Tenzo because he wanted someone he could trust guarding Sasuke in his last couple of days in the hospital (And Tenzo was completely on board to protect a victim of Orochimaru), and he was killing two birds with one stone because Gai mentioned Gaara was in the hospital a bit to talk to Temari and he was worried about Lee.

And yeah, Tenzo and Gai know each other, though they don't interact much because at this point Tenzo is still in ANBU. They mostly know each other through Kakashi.

Of course, Tenten doesn't know any of this.
