That's one way to do it, I guess. When you lose five levels and regain them back, you can then kind of refocus your build for the past five levels. You can even take it to the extreme and kill yourself until you're only level 1, again. Most players just go to the cash shop and buy the one-time use right to reassign your stats and abilities, its less of a hassle but I guess that for F2P players that are quite dedicated would do that.
You're quite sharp to notice that.
Eh. Thats just what they did in canon. I wonder if their is some sort of cultivator martial class? Or if we can learn the ability to Rebuild our foundation.
Say. Do abilities stay unlocked? That if if we go back to level one can we start buying iron fist and all the other good skills from level one? Why is specialty weapon fist and feet instead of unarmed?
How are you denoting player control skill as a stat? Weve been schooling those dragr adn getting pretty familiar with the draugr. And they were pretty easy to begin with. If we do die to respec could we just finesse them?
Mind over body is ki blasts and kamehameha and cultivator stuff. Body over mind is hulk smash?
Why are people so focused on Mind over Body? Unless you have a preference for that aura (since it's more team-based) I don't see how it helps our character in the short term and unless we're changing our build suddenly it doesn't help later either. Reinforcement is about the only thing that'll benefit if that wins unless Magic Defence is a factor? Or maybe Special? I'm just confused given that we have no magical attacks and we're suddenly pushing for magic. Better to not split our focus between magic and physical in my opinion. There might be future amazing skills that use up mp for physical fighters and then I'd be okay with us using a respec item in that case, but right now I don't see the appeal.
Eh. Thats just what they did in canon. I wonder if their is some sort of cultivator martial class? Or if we can learn the ability to Rebuild our foundation.
I must brush up my knowledge then. I'll need to see if the first three volumes are still available in PDF.
An ability is linked to a certain level. For example, there is a pretty big difference between an ability unlocked at level 2 and one who was unlocked at level 12. So to regain back that ability you got at level 12, you'll need to reach back that level first. Of course, if you take a different ability than the one you took at first, you'll get a whole new different tree if 'Well Fit' was the first one to be chosen instead of 'Specialized Weapon'. Why is it like that? Well, because the Specialized Weapon ability allows you to get better results while wielding a type of weapon you like and want to specialize in it. Like a sword, a mace, a bludgeon and so on. You voted for 'Fists' and 'Feets'.
If what you mean if those two abilities can eventually lead to a new one which mixes the both of them, then yes. That's something you can do when you'll unlock your Advanced class. Yes, it means if there are two compatible abilities, they can be fused into one.
The player's skill? I don't denote it into a stat or some sort of mechanic. All of the mechanics of the quests are on that informational post. A player's skill is just GM-fiat and if it makes sense enough. Karen is a fit person who runs regularly and previously did gymnastic classes which allowed her to kind of do the Cleave ability on her own but it wasn't that good either. Karen is familiar enough with the Draugrs in the starting areas. She could probably blitz through them, the Ancient Draugrs are a bit stronger, she could probably take them on but that'll be taking a lot of risks.
Mind Over Body is kind of like that yeah although at an advanced stage you didn't reach yet so its just small stuff, as I said earlier JJBA's Hamon is a good comparison to the level you'll expect of it right now.
You got Body Over Mind wrong tho. It's not something that lets your anger take over and start smashing everything around. Someone made a comparison with 'Ultra Instinct' which is a good one but with an oppressing aura around you to debuff enemies in your range and makes the wildlife bow down. An Apex Predator.
Your party members didn't say anything about the boss yet. Which is a bit of a bad thing. They should have done so before entering the boss room. Everyone makes mistakes.
I'll just say it outright here, everyone knows here how to handle the boss, its something they discussed before even entering the cave, they just failed to remember to discuss it with you. In fact, at that campfire, you encountered them in? They were talking about it.

The character sheet has been updated if you're curious. Karen is a hell of a lot stronger now.
You're still far enough away that the boss doesn't attack you, yet. Nice of the devs because you have a few questions before actually going in any further and a few things to do. Yasu-bud tells you to double-check your inventory and items once more to make sure you're ready before the party fully go in for the final fight. You take that chance to assign your stats, unlock and improve some of your abilities. You see a few neat abilities like 'Light Feet', 'Resilient Body', 'Iron Fist' which will help you immensely in the future considering the build you want to go for. 'Iron Fist' in fact looks really appealing to you so you improve it even further. There is 'Reinforcement' it seemed like some sort of temporary buff Fighter class players got. The fact that it makes you better at everything for a temporary amount of time is just too good to pass up. You take it, too. That leaves you with two level ups... You choose to simply improve the 'Specialized Weapon(Feets)' and 'Projectile Catch'. The former is mainly to catch up with the 'Fists' one and gives you further advantages that keep stacking up, the latter is an ability you have yet to test out but it really looks useful so you invest a bit more in it. You spend your stat points on the usual Agility, HP and Physical Attack which the main stats you need.
Finally, you get to the level 15 ability... or rather, there seems to be two of them. It seems you have to take a choice between the two which will be a major turn on how you'll build your player character. Interesting, you take the time to read through everything carefully this time before making a decision. You take the 'Body Over Mind'. The 'Mind Over Body' one really looked interesting, its something you'll have liked to play certainly but you don't actually have any magical abilities to fit with it. You went with a purely physical build and taking a sharp turn now toward that path will be more hurtful to your build than anything. The Fighter class is not ideal for the 'Mind Over Body', although you're sure if one were to be diligent, they can find a way around it, you could have but you'll rather not take any risk and 'Body Over Mind' sounds pretty awesome and exciting too!
As you confirm your decision, you feel a slight change in your body. Your virtual body becoming better. You don't really have the words for it but you feel like you could take on anything. Under your heavy armor and clothes, there is a subtle flash of red light. You're curious about what it was and so you unequip your armor which leaves you in your ragged peasant robe. You slightly lift it to see that there are some sharp blood-red tribal tattoos that go up from your hips to your belly. Weird but cool. You wonder what it actually means. You look around you and fortunately, your party members didn't notice your self-inspection. In fact, now that you're browsing through your inventory, you notice that you meet the requirements for wearing Ahkriin's Armor. Nice! You equip it immediately. You receive a little notification about choosing your Advanced class but you dismiss it for now. You'll make that decision later, you're running out of time as the others seemed to have pretty much finished up too.
An armor made out of shining Mirthril, huh? This is pretty awesome and it definitely looks way cooler than the rookie iron armor you had previously. It nicely hides your character's face too! You could take off the mask and hood but you decide to keep it. You look cool and it protects your identity. Now you're ready. Before you take off, however. You have some questions to ask the others about.
"So, guys. What can you tell me about this boss?" Everyone seems to stop what they're doing to look at you. You could see that there was an obvious confusion. Yeah, you were somehow suspicious of that. They obviously forgot, right? Yasu-bud recovers quickly, however, and starts debriefing you on the boss.
"The Ancient Mage Overlord is a pretty simple basic boss. It's a long-range mage so we'll stick as close as we can to him, the only catch is how to approach him, he's pretty nasty due to his fast spellcasting. He's an undead so Holy attacks hurt him a lot. We'll take advantage of that. I have an ability 'Holy Blessing' which imbue all of my team's weapons with the holy attribute. StormDoom-san stick close to Nofuku-san, you'll be doing most of the damage. YaoiSensei-san, you'll mostly stay hidden and take potshots at it when it's vulnerable, I'll be tanking most of his attacks. If you need to be healed, just cry out for me. Any objections?" That's a quite simple plan so you simply nod as the others did.
(Optional Battle Song)
And so, together you step forward. The Overlord almost immediately acknowledge your presence by a powerful war cry that shakes the very foundations of the tomb. He looks at your team defiantly, undead eyes filled with a cold blue light. He stands majestically, floating in the air and looking down on you with obvious disdain. A King merely looking down upon peasants that dared to revolt against him. You have to admit, this is choreographed well. It makes your blood pump in excitement to beat down this King, to make him fall and take his crown for yourself.
The Overlord slightly float down and slam the butt of his staff on the ground with both of his hand, causing a shockwave of magical energy. It was mostly harmless but it was strong enough to destabilize you for a few moments, allowing to send several frostbolts toward you. He is quite dangerous, his spellcasting is way faster than the Draugr mages in the starting areas. Fortunately, Yasu-bud is there to block most of them. The rest are easily sidestepped, you take the chance to try out your ability. Projectile Catch. You feel the system guide your movements smoothly, catching one of the frostbolts easily and with a firm and powerful pitcher stance, you throw it back at the Overlord. With your recent upgrades, it literally made a shockwave of air due to the strength of the throw. The Overlord could barely dodge out of the way as it hit it neatly in the chest. Right in the bull's eye.
The Overlord, however, seemed to be hardly fazed by his attack getting sent back to him. It didn't make much damage but it certainly made him stagger back.
"Now!" cry out Yasu-bud as he runs toward the Overlord. The others and you following quickly behind him. You needed to quickly get close before he starts spamming magical attacks and lock you at range, that'll be pretty bad. You can't let him control the flow of the battle. As you're about mid-way to the inner circle of the boss room, the Overlord recover. However, due to your superior agility, you're way ahead of your group. In fact, you're close enough that you could jump at him and throw a punch. It's now or never! Otherwise, they'll be stuck! You go for it. You crouch down, your virtual muscles tensing and then suddenly relaxing as you make a mightly leap toward the Overlord. Unlike, your previous leap, this one is much larger and faster due to your improved Agility. This is awesome.
Your cheeky grin fade away as you see that the Overlord hurled at you a fireball of all things in plain mid-air! You can't dodge it! You'll take your chances and try to catch it. Your superior Agility could perhaps send it back to him. You certainly manage to catch it and send it back. The bastard easily side-step it. Its quite weird, as the fireball isn't quite a solid object but you just file it away as one of the quirks of magic. Unfortunately, as you were too busy catching and throwing back a fireball, you failed to notice that there was a second one! Shit! It'll hit you head-on! And it did, there was nothing you could do about it. You simply grit your teeth and bear through it.
HP: 27/37
MP: 25/25
You crash messily on Overlord, as you're both on the ground. You take that chance to punch it to hell and back but it recover fast enough and with its staff as a make-shift weapon slams you away. Fortunately, toward your party members. Nofuku is there to catch you. As always, she looks pretty annoyed.
"You idiot. I told you to be careful and not reckless. And what do you do? You jump at the fucking boss!" "Nofuku. Not now. Heal. Holy Blessing." Nofuku-chan is planning to lecture you again but fortunately, Yasu-bud yet again saves your ass. He even heals you. This guy is way too reliable! Seriously, though, if you didn't do what you just did. The fight would have taken much longer and it'll be more difficult. You're confident in saying that what you did was right.
HP: 37/37
MP: 25/25
With Yasu-bud's Blessing, your fists glow with a faint golden light as do Nofuku-chan's black sword and Yaoi-chan's long daggers. Neat. You look back toward the Overlord to see that it has already stood back up and it's sending a real flurry of spells at Yasu-bud who somehow block all of them with his shield. Now, that you're in the inner circle of the boss room and close enough to the boss. You can finally start beating it down. You stick close to Nofuku-chan as planned.
The fight goes as planned, in fact. It goes exactly as Yasu-bud predicted. You recall that he said he already went through this boss and beat it. It'll explain how he knows how to beat it but still, it makes the fight a hell of a lot boring now. You and Nofuku-chan just attack it a few times until its focus is on you and then Yaoi-chan take that opportunity to attack, which sets his focus on her. She's always close to Yasu-bud and when the Overlord throws spells at her, she put herself behind Yasu-bud who blocks the spells easily which make the Overlord refocus on Yasu-bud and so on. Its a cycle like that until the Overlord eventually fall down and crumble into dust. You know this was the safer option but it just wasn't that fun. You guess that the best part out of it surprisingly was the team working with Nofuku-chan. It was pretty smooth and you understood each other with only a few words.
You decide to put such thing out of your mind for now and you'll rather take a look at the loot which makes your mouth water in greed.
50 000 G
Crown of The Mad King
-This crown gives a +6 to all magical attacks and damage, including a +4 damage absorption.
Staff of the Soulkeeper
-This staff allows you to cast four spells of the Third Tier and lower simultaneously at a reduced casting time. +3 to all magical attacks and damage.
"That's some pretty nice loot. The amount of gold is just big enough that we can split it into four. As for the items. We'll just give it to those who need it." said Yasu-bud. You're about to open your mouth when he suddenly turns to you. Upfront, his female character is pretty scary. She looks like a stern woman that'll just make you crumble with a simply disappointed glare. Her armor, weapons and the flaming bird on her shoulder certainly emphasize that even more.
"StormDoom-san. This concludes the agreed temporary party with us. What do you think of our party? Would you like to permanently join us?" he suggested. Yaoi-chan seemed to be quite excited to hear your answer. Nofuku-chan was just passively standing there.
"You're definitely welcome StormDoom-san! I really hope you do stay with us! I'm sure Nofuku-san feels the same. Right?" Yaoi-chan slightly nudges Nofuku-chan with her elbow. "Tch. I'm fine with you joining us." Yaoi-chan just smiles at you a bit more.
What do you say?

Advanced class choice:
[] Champion A champion, you are the one who steps forward, the one who takes on a path toward success, fame, and glory. The path is lined with the bodies of your enemies and your allies march by your side.
Karma: +100
[] Princeps A ruler, you are the one who stands at the top, the one who guides the masses toward a brighter or darker future. The path is lined with people, both your enemies and allies bowing down to you.
[] Harbinger. A warrior, a harbinger of war and destruction. What follows your wake is only ruins. The path toward becoming a fearsome warrior, a tempered body and the will of a killer, the path is lined with the bodies whoses faces you can't recognize as enemies or allies.
Karma: -100
Hmm, I prefer just keeping in contact as friend and join them from time to time but not always staying with them. They seems like good people, but doesn't seems very interesting. For loot, I guess we can split stuff evenly to no garner and negative relationship point. For advance class, Champion seems to be paladin version of fighter which have AOE buffing skills along with fighter combat ability, Princeps maybe have weaker buff but have enemy debuff too, while Harbinger should be pure damage and self buff for solo player style. Anyway, I'm sleepy as hell so I'll wait for other people to vote first

Just as a quick heads up to help your decisions a bit. Princeps is the one who has the most AoE buffs and debuffs, that sort of things. Champion and Harbinger are more self-focused actually but its just that Harbinger has more of a negative karma focus and Champion more of a positive karma focus.
There are lots of weapons, spells, and other such things that can only be used by one side of the karma spectrum. Each one has its pros and cons. Take what you like.

I don't know if i want Harbinger or Champion more. Decided on the 'rawr murder' class

'Champion' doesn't really sound like a martial art class? There has to be more difference between them than the karma thing.

After the added info, it is clear that we need to get rid of 'Projectile Catch' soon. It makes an agility roll instead of a dodge roll, which sucks to say the least. Essentially, pure agility gives very little bonuses (Agi/10), which means that with our stats now, it's something like ~60% we get to throw the bolt back (and it can miss), and ~40% we just catch it with our face. As such, it is now only a very situational way to unreliably turn our HP pool into damage. We are much better off just reliably dodging the projectiles with our +10-20 dodge bonus, and taking ranks in something else. Compare our current two ranks in 'Projectile Catch' with two ranks in let's say 'Iron Fist' (+6 damage to everything). Enough said.
'Projectile Catch' might be good at max level, in a build with all our dodge bonuses purely from a massive Agility stat, and our damage from abilities. That way a single rank in 'PC' would only give benefits. No reason to really ever improve it though, the bonus (+1 to rolls in this exact specific situation/rank) is abhorrently bad. For now though, 'PC' is just a waste of ability points.

The claim that Champion sounds "not like a martial arts class" is just weird. Monks for example are not typically limited to a neutral or evil alignment. Jackie Chan is an example of a good aligned martial artist in many of his movies. A sect hiding and suppressing an invulnerable evil and preventing it from falling into the hands of evil would be another typical example. Heck, Kung-fu Panda is a good one
I'd prefer StormDoom to be neutral and solo-focused, but that doesn't seem to be an efficient option here. In that case I'll choose Champion, because of the protection allowed by Karma penalty mechanics. Some would use the word "boring", I prefer "peace of mind"

Honestly, considering our focus on punching and kicking none of these quite feel as martial-arts-y as I'd expect. That being said, we still have 85 levels left, so I suppose that can come later.
For now, I think a pure combat focus makes the most sense. As for Harbringer over Champion, well...
Our name is StormDoom. If you swap the name and class around, you get Harbringer of StormDoom. That just sounds more badass then Champion of StormDoom to me. Plus, StormDoom sounds kinda evil.
As for sticking with the group, well, I like them. That's about it.
