The Leila Hann Let's Watch Spoiler Thread: Seriously, Stop Spoiling Stuff

Well, part of the katana man arc has already been commissioned, so soon. That's very good to see.

If there's chapters of that left by the time I next get paid, or some plan by anyone for the next arc, then I'm still up for contributing. If not, I have other stuff to move onto. There's the separation arc for mob psycho, as I've mentioned. Maybe a bit more of Shadows House. Or, something I've thought about a few times is trying Revue Starlight on Leila.

So. Not spoiling any of this for non patrons, but she gave some great reviews for Epic - although I'm not sure Gigi's portrayal of Eurylochus matches what Leila seems to have taken from him.

Personally, I'm just hopefully someone commissions the Wisdom saga - some of her conclusions revolve around Odysseus being the main character in an allegorical tale, and Athena having her own side-adventure with his kid and (even better) on Olympus, far from humans… I'd love to see how she reacts to that. (I, unfortunately, am still recovering from commissioning Arcane S1, even with help.)
I'm gonna commission the rest of the play once it's actually out.

Internet Archive is back-ish, so was able to download one of the Vance stories, but the other doesn't seem to work?

EDIT: NVM, got it to work.

Leila's Bewitched review has got me thinking it'd be really interesting to commission Kevin Can F*** Himself. If you're not familiar with that show, here's a quick rundown:

One small issue I have with KCFH though is, coming out now when 'dumb husband, nagging wife' sitcoms are largely a thing of the past, it feels less timely that it could have been had it come out a decade or so earlier.

Also, if I ever do commission another Bewitched episode, it'd definitely have to be one with Uncle Arthur in it

If this is the discussion Samantha and Jeannie are getting, I'm a little nervous what will happen when we get to Belldandy.

Also, since the 1970s Raggedy Ann movie was brought up in response to TADC 2, what do people think about commissioning something by virtuoso animator Richard Williams? It's tempting, considering how high-grade and trippy his work can get (much like Yuri Norstein, who Leila's already reviewed on Patreon). Just look at the Recobbled Cut of Thief and the Cobbler:

At the same time though, most of his movies besides Roger Rabbit (which wasn't fully his) get similar criticisms. Namely, that he's fantastic at animation but meh at everything else, like story.

Maybe commissioning a Richard Williams short would work better? It's easier to get away with being solely about the animation there than it is with a feature-length. Keep costs down too

So… what's going on with K6BD? Does anyone know what the plan is there?

With the Oh My Goddess EP 1 review up on Patreon, I'll probably be commissioning the OVA's remaining four episodes, given how few there are. I'm considering skipping EP 2 though, as it leans more ecchi in tone unlike the rest of the series, and isn't the best introduction to Urd.

Wouldn't know personally, though I'm guessing Leila's just been more interested in other stuff lately

After Airtight Garage got rejected, I still wanna commission something from Moebius, but play it safer this time. Silver Surfer: Parable would probably be the best bet; it's often listed as an entry point what with Stan Lee being involved.

And since the Oh My Goddess review is up on Patreon, I'd personally say Adventures of Mini-Goddess might be the best entry in the franchise. IYAM, it brings what works about the series to the forefront (namely Urd and Skuld) while downplaying or getting rid of what doesn't.

That said, I've got no plans to commission it. Given it's a series of five-minute gag shorts, I doubt there's much to say about it. Then again, Leila has done a Looney Tunes review

She'll probably be able to handle it

You don't want a repeat of the FEMA movie...

I take it you mean the Fullmetal Alchemist movie?

Episode 2 of the OMG OVA is hardly that essential, since you can easily pick up on what Urd and Sayoko are like from the rest of the series, so Leila wouldn't be missing that much

She'd be missing major introductions besides Urds introduction is hilarious
(Also why did FMA autocorrect to FEMA??)

Leila has watched episodes she wasn't commissioned to get more context, she did so with the first episode of Bewitched. So she could easily do so with E2 of the OMG OVA if she feels it'd help

I have commished "The Miracle Workers" by Jack Vance.

Hey, does anyone else here who's a Vance fan remember the title of that one story of his about the African-American CIA Agent who replaces the ruler of an African country and then goes native in between fighting off Soviet and Chinese attempts at the same trick?

it occurred to me that Leila might have some fun with that one.

EDIT: Looked it up, it's "The Augmented Agent".

I would hazard a guess K6BD updates had to stop because after running out of paid material, Leila was doing those for free, and after she mentioned money troubles and even changed her format because of the ever-expanding queue there's just no room for continuing them as a personal interest.

I would usually volunteer, but right at the moment my reading list is already at an unwieldy length, so I don't dare add anything else.

Hmmph.

So, it seems that "The Augmented Agent" story is on archive.org, via the collection of the same name.

Odd request: I wanna ask if anyone is willing to give a crack at it, and confirm if it's something it'd be good for commish Leila to review, cuz I don't remember it as well.
What do you mean by 'good'? I can't and won't speak for her actual tastes, what she's guaranteed to enjoy, but after a decade of friendship I'm confident that anything by Jack Vance will at least be interesting to commission. That's a good selection of Jade Vance to get her opinion on, that collection in general. No one can guarantee she'll like it, but if what you want is her opinion on an interesting writer whose style she likes, yes, go for it.

Went ahead and commissioned episodes 3 to 5 of the Oh My Goddess OVA, though anyone's free to commission episode 2 if they feel like.

I brought up commissioning Don Bluth stuff a whole back (Titan AE got the most buzz), and got the idea to do a versus commission between The Little Mermaid and All Dogs go to Heaven. The two notoriously released on the same day, so critics actually had to versus reviews of them at the time.
That said, the two films otherwise don't have that much in common with each other, aside from a time limit and singing aquatic animals

I had the thought to commission Fawlty Towers next year, as it'd be its 50th anniversary. But then I thought I could also commission The Great Gatsby for its 100th anniversary.

Helps both are pretty short, Fawlty Towers only having twelve episodes and Great Gatsby not even 50,000 words. Granted, you could argue it'd be more interesting to go with a lesser-known Fitzgerald book

I'm happy to see that the last bit of Shadows House's Debut arc has been commissioned. Thank you to whoever did that.

I'm noticing the following commissions:

a bunch of Owl House (*6)

Owl House S1E18-19, S2E1-3 (*5)

I'm curious, is the former a quick skimming of all of E2-E17, or is there a gap?
