The Leech Lord (ASOIAF/SI) - Complete

At least you weren't some apathetic cunt!
I respect you. I'm not sure I could have done the same thing with a possible sword above my head.

"I suppose in your case, you have to take whatever opportunity you can to have your hands touch a woman and grasp it whole. Almost as much as you grasp your own cock I imagine, though you certainly don't need two hands for that."

And then he started paying attention.

"Mind yourself, Bolton." huffed the odious knight as he glanced to my direction "Being the king's pet doesn't you untouchable."

"No, I'd have to be an overweight, girl-beating sham of a knight to be untouchable. Pray tell, can you see your dick beneath that immovable mass you call a stomach, or would it be too minuscule even if you weren't a whale miraculously given the gift of walking on land.

And then he got huffy.

"Last chance, Bolton. I'm warning you."

"I can't imagine what brave soul plowed the mythical beast that was your mother to sire you. You are a Blount after all, but that name means so little in the Crownlands I can hardly imagine just how you managed to rise so far as to become a knight, let alone a Kingsguard. Tell me the truth, Blount: Just where exactly did the priest touch you as a squire, and how much you enjoy it?"
It's like all the Wildfire caches in King's landing ignited and then focused onto Boros Blount's ego.

Third sentence. "A fact which had it'd benefits and drawbacks" should be "its" i'm guessing.

And loved the chapter. While he might be in dire straits now Joffrey does have his random mood swings, so who knows. And if he ever reunites with the Northern Host the reputation of the size of his balls will be sung about the camp fires and his allegiances might not be as questioned as before.

I dunno, from the outside it could just look like not getting to kill/torture anybody over that timespan just got him so eager he seized on the first good excuse he stumbled across.

True. But the thing that made him snap was a Stark girl getting tortured by a Southron bastard. To most of the North that's something they'd praise rather than not. Plus doing the deed in front of the whole court, face to face, man to man, should get him some fist bumps.

What I'd like to see is Robb and Cat's response when they hear about this. The other prisoners in KL would also be sure of Droose loyalty now. I cannot imagine they were too comfortable with him becoming Joffery's BFF.

"Clearly your grace, if he were good enough to be one of your kingsguard, I should never have been able to best him like that. I was just helping you weed out the chaff you see."

Well, sucks to be Droose, but his reaming and stabbing of Blount was a jewel to read. Now if only he'd had the chance to do the same to Trant and Greenfield...

Also, I hate to say it, but Trant killing Syrio makes plenty of sense. For one, IIRC Syrio only had a wooden practice sword. Second, Braavosi Water Dance is basically fencing, a fighting style that's mostly meant for fighting a single unarmored or lightly armored opponent, not for facing down a fully armed and armored knight. An unarmored guy wielding a long metal toothpick is going to have difficulty fighting a guy in full plate mail with a sword and shield who is well-trained in their use, no matter how well he's mastered the art of wielding long metal toothpicks. Especially when said toothpick doesn't even have the decency to be made of metal.

What an odd pair Joffrey and Roose make. I must say this is one of the few times I sort of empathized with Joffrey, being a sheltered kid with a bitch for a mother must have did a number on his mental health, not to mention the fact that there are two armies bearing down upon him couldn't have helped his temperament either.

Joffrey reminds me of the kids in the novel Lord of the Flies, who devolved into bloodthirsty savages when there was no authority to check their behaviour.

Edit - word

*Rapturous Applause*

A wonderful, visceral reminder for the court why the Boltons were considered monsters and feared across the North.

It's the sheer coldness of his actions.

It is one thing to kill a man, another to go from polite company to butchering a man and back to polite conversation, all without raising your voice.

It must also be something of an eye opening for joffrey and those who know him.

Joffrey is the little boy who pulls wings off fly's for the enjoyment of it. Bolton is the man who would murder million because they got in the way.

I love this scene.

One, he defends Sansa. The girl has already gone through enough, and I will happily applaud Droose for that.

Two, he killed someone supposed to be one the greatest warriors in the Realm by reputation, in cold blood, in the defense of his liege lord's sister, quite possibly in self-defence, with obvious brutality, and in front of the entire royal court. The rumours about this are going to be amazing.

Nobody is ever going to doubt the Boltons' loyalty to the North again. And neither will they doubt their cunning and ice-cold cruelty.

This is, of course, bad for Droose, but I'll admit that I am now imagining Cersei's reaction of incoherent fear and grinning.

Didn't Syrio kill the rest of the Lannister guards that went with Trant? And they were all armoured up as well if I recall?

It's not outside the realm of possibility for him to kill Trant too, especially with that bloody helmet, could crush his face in, and then there's Trant's skill with a sword, which is frankly pretty meh, and Syrio was meant to be really damn good. Plus, if his wooden sword broke, Syrio could just grab one of the swords off one of the dead Lannister guardsmen.

Just because you know how to use one weapon doesn't mean you can use another. Western European longsword is a completely different fighting style using different angles of attack when compared to the rapier. Just because Syrio mastered one didn't mean he could pick up and use another weapon just as effectively.

IIRC, the other guards Syrio killed were armoured, but they weren't wearing full plate. And the only thing useful against full plate is blunt trauma (warhammers and maces), carrying a longsword in the Mordhau, or wrestling the enemy to the ground to stab him between the plates with a dagger.

he killed five guards but although they did have amour it wasn't full plate which is what Trant had.

Roose should try to spin this like he did him a favor. If he could get the drop on a Kingsgaurd then clearly he was undeserving of his position. Now, he has a chance to hand pick his own protector. Plus Sansa can put a good word if you guys get out of this in one piece.

As far as demoralizing the enemy goes, this is clearly a mission accomplished.
It could only be better had Drose done that with Blount's own knife.
Time to dig a tunnel out?

Apart from Blount getting absolutely mullered, I also love the part where Droose adresses us about how Tyrion got what was coming to him. He's not the saint the TV show and other works of Fanfiction make him out to be.
