Republic Starfighters
Aurek-class Starfighter (Revan Refit)
The Aurek-class starfighter has been the workhorse of the Republic Navy since the Mandalorian Wars and since the Jedi Civil War, its position has only been entrenched due to the Republic's lack of remaining capital ships and the ability to produce more capital ships. With it being easier for the Republic Navy to produce and crew a couple hundred starfighters than to do the same with a capital ship, the Republic Navy has focused on filling out its forces with its primary starfighter.

While Hammerhead-class cruisers and Foray-class escorts have their place within the Republic Navy in fulfilling roles beyond a starfighter, the Republic Navy has decided to make relatively cheap refits to Aurek-class starfighter to make it significantly more effective and superior to the vast majority of other starfighters in the galaxy. This is renown as the Revan refit due to Supreme Commander Revan Shan being the main backer of the starfighter-focused doctrine of the Republic Navy and being the individual who approved the refit of the Aurek-class using his vast authority over the Republic's military forces.

The refitted Aurek-class has marginally better firepower with some slight improvements to the heavy lasers to let them pack more of a punch while the primary focus on the refit was to improve the survivability and mobility of the Aurek-class starfighter. While the armour and shields were about as good as they were going to get for a ship of its size, the refit was able to fit in a secondary shield generator that while not enough to provide a second shield or boost the primary one, it did allow for the Aurek's shield to recharge twice as fast. The hull of the Aurek-class was also refitted to be more durable and be able to take more damage at the price of being slightly bulkier. A jamming suite was incorporated into the starfighter to make it harder for enemies to lock-on even if the size of the Aurek-class limited its effectiveness.

Other improvements focused on the strategic range of the Aurek-class as the class two hyperdrive was upgraded to a class one. High-end atmospheric thrusters were added to significantly increase the speed of the starfighter whilst fighting in a planetary atmosphere and state of the art manoeuvring jets were installed alongside the thrusters to allow for massively improved rapid mobility and dodging capabilities. The onboard computers were improved from the previous basic version to allow for a slight, but noticeable boost to processing power that greatly benefited the Aurek-class in its new duties as the workhorse of the Republic Navy while an inbuilt sensor array allows for the Aurek-class starfighter to have detection abilities that are much needed when operating without a warship to support them.

The downside of all these upgrades is that the Aurek-class starfighter lost some of its advantage of being cheap to produce. Yet despite the noticeable uptick in cost, the Aurek-class starfighter remained cheaper than most of the alternatives whilst also having a major boost to its capabilities, combat and out of it. Furthermore, the simplicity of the Aurek-class' design remains unchanged and it remains just as a quick and easy to produce despite increase in price. Ultimately, it was still easier and cheaper for the Republic Navy to build and crew a thousand refitted Aurek-class starfighters than it was to build even a single warship and it was also significantly easier to set up a starfighter production line on a planet than it was a shipyard for building capital ships.

The end result is that the Republic Navy is able to set up at least one Aurek-class production line on even Outer Rim worlds and is able to assign hundred to thousands to tens of thousands of Aurek-class fighters depending on how important it is to defend that world. The Republic Navy is also able to better patrol regions by covering trade routes with roving squadrons of starfighters that are able to call in reinforcements if they run into something too much for their squadron to handle.

Liberator-class Starfighter
The Liberator-class starfighter is a new design for the Republic Navy to replace the Chela-class after it was determined it would be easier to design a new heavier counterpart to the Aurek-class than to refit the Chela-class into one. As a result, the Liberator-class starfighter born to be the heavy fighter to Aurek-class' light fighter. While the larger size of the Liberator-class makes it less agile and manoeuvrable, it packs more of a punch and has more standing power. The larger hull means that the Liberator-class is able to afford both greater amounts of armour and able to support a stronger shield generator in alongside having its own secondary generator for faster recharge rates with the Liberator-class having almost twice as much armour as the Aurek-class while its shields are over twice as powerful. The larger hull also means that the Liberator-class can potentially take an additional hit compared to the Aurek-class, but that improvement isn't as significant as with the armour and shields.

In terms of firepower, Liberator-class is clear step up from the Aurek-class. While it also supports enhanced heavy lasers alongside a pair of proton torpedo launchers, the Liberator has twice as many lasers cannons with two on each wing instead of just one. Like the refitted Aurek-class, the Liberator-class has a jamming suite, upgraded computers and a dedicated sensor array to provide it with an edge in ECM warfare. The Liberator-class also has the same strategic capabilities as the refitted Aurek-class with a class one hyperdrive and two days worth of consumables for the pilot.

The Liberator-class also has the advanced atmospheric thrusters and manoeuvring jets as an Aurek-class, but despite this, it is unable to keep up with the greater agility of the smaller Aurek-class. It is slower by a full two hundred and fifty kilometres per hour in a planetary atmosphere while it is unable to pull combat manoeuvres and other stunts to the same degree. Given its status as a heavy fighter to the Aurek-class' light fighter, this is deemed an acceptable trade-off for the Liberator-class. The final difference between the Liberator-class starfighter and the Aurek-class starfighter is that the former has room for an astromech while the latter cannot.

The Liberator-class doesn't see as much use as the Aurek-class and not just due to its newness. The Liberator-class is more expensive and lacks the simplicity of the Aurek-class when it comes to actual construction. Both costing more to build and taking more longer to build, the Aurek-class will remain the mainstay of the Republic Navy while the Liberator-class is reserved for more experienced and otherwise proven pilots such as Jedi. While it will never be as numerous or widespread as the Aurek-class, the Liberator-class is used in large amounts if only as a hundred Liberators for every thousand Aureks. As a final fact, the Liberator-class starfighter is commonly called the T-Wing as it looks like the letter Trill when it is deployed in combat mode while also looking like the letter Thesh when it remains undeployed.

Kaliton: Czerka Computers
[X] They hack into Czerka Corp's computers for information

"That certainly does sound suspicious," says Mum as you finish explaining what you have uncovered so far, "We should certainly do something about it, but you are correct to decide that we should go looking for more evidence. We could pull it off if it were just our word versus theirs, but it would be better to have some solid proof to back up our claims."

"Right," you agree, "Do you have any ideas? Because you are the Jedi Master and all while I'm just a Padawan."

"You are far more than just a Padawan Luka, but yes, I do have plenty of experience dealing with Czerka," says Mum thoughtfully, "Finding evidence shouldn't be too hard, especially when they are being this sloppy and blatant. They probably think they can get away because this is a backwater world in the Outer Rim and I have to admit that is probably even though I wish it wasn't. They got a good front to fool anyone who glances at the situation, but we should be able to find something if we go looking for details."

"Any ideas on where we should start looking?" you ask.

"We should try Czerka Corp's computers," says Mum, "Do you either of you fancy your chances breaking into their computer systems?"

"Kira?" you inquire as you glance at the Togruta.

"I don't really know how to use computers," admits Kira, "It wasn't something I've got taught growing up and these days I just get by with a basic understanding. Computers are easy to use when you stick to the basics and do things properly you know?"

"They are," you reply, "I guess I'll be the one doing the hacking. It shouldn't be too hard, but I'm not an expert. I will need access to one of Czerka Corp's computers, one linked to their internal network. Got any ideas on how to find one Mum, I mean Master Shan?"

"We could try the local spaceport," suggests Mum, "Czerka Corp seems to have taken it over fully."

"If they have, that would probably be evidence on its own," you muse, "The local authorities are supposed to be running the spaceport not Czerka."

"If the spaceport computers prove to be insufficient, then we can go and look at one of the official Czerka buildings," says Mum and with that, your group got a plan.

***

With Mum leading the way, it doesn't take long for you to find the admin offices for Crystal City Spaceport. There are a couple of guards with blaster rifles outside the office, but they are clearly not interested in their jobs beyond making some credits. You can quite literally feel the boredom and apathy radiating from them as you approach and you doubt you will have an issue dealing with them. With both of you knowing that you are the better speaker, Mum silently slips back to let you take lead and without any prompting beyond that, you move up to take the leading position.

"Hi," you say to the guards, "I am here for a meeting with the spaceport administrator."

You knew that someone was in the office from sensing them in the Force, but you expected to take some additional persuasion or explanations to get inside. Instead, neither of the guards questions your party and instead just allows you unimpeded access to the office. You take it without issue however as you don't want to look a free nerf in the mouth and raising a fuss would make it look like you didn't come here expecting a meeting. As you expected, there is someone inside the office, a Snivvian man in the uniform of Czerka Corporation behind the desk as he works away at a computer.

"Who are you and what are you doing here?" demands the man as he looks up from his work as he notices your group entering his force.

"Hi, I'm Luka," you start, but the spaceport administrator cuts you off.

"And you are going to leave right now if you know what is good for you," interrupts the man, "I am Czerka Corparation officer in charge of running Kaliton's spaceport and you are trespassing on private Czerka Corporation property. I don't know how you got past my guards, but-"

"You are going to give us access to your computer," you tell the man, waving your hand as you pull off a mind trick on this arrogant and most likely criminal man once it becomes clear that he is going to be unreasonable and troublesome.

"I will give you access to my computer," agrees the man, blinking at his sudden change in attitude, "Of course, I will."

You shrug at the look Mum gives you as you move around the desk to get at the computer. The Snivvian has left himself logged on, but as you begin to look though the data, you quickly realise that little fact doesn't give you as much information as you would like. In too many places you have to enter your login details again to access certain records and areas. You could try hacking your way around that, but you don't want to try that with a witness who has only been mind-tricked.

"Hey Administrator Varton, could you provide me with your login details?" you inquire.

"Absolutely not," retorts the man, puffing up slightly, "It is one thing to let you use the computer, it is another thing entirely and a total breach of security protocol to simply hand over my personal access. I will-"

"You will give me your login details," you tell him, pulling off another mind trick with a slight wave of your hand.

"-think I can make an exception in this case," finishes the man as he changes his tune mid-sentence.

"Luka," mutters Mum under her breath as the spaceport administrator gives you his Czerka Corporation credentials and you give her another shrug.

With Administrator Varton's login details, you begin to find the stuff that you are looking for as you poke about the local Czerka records. For an evil megacorp, Czerka Corp keeps a lot of detailed records on their misdeeds. You suspect it would be smarter to get rid of the records, but Czerka probably does enough evil deeds that they need to keep track of just what they've been getting up to. Unfortunately, it has been a lot. You have records from bribing local officials and law enforcement to a list of how and when they intimidated locals into selling to Czerka Corp to a list of miner owners and other troublesome individuals who they had kill or arrested. And that is just local. You also find records of all of the regular off-world traders who Czerka Corp rendered incapable of supplying Kaliton though less than legal means, including those who they had assassinated.

This is more than enough to get legal basis to drive Czerka Corp off-world and Mum can easily acquire the force needed to do so by calling some local Republic military units. Which you will since on top of their five hundred security force, Czerka has about half of the militia and two thirds of planetary law enforcement taking marching orders from them. While the latter two groups won't side with Czerka against a Republic taskforce, they will almost certainly help Czerka out against a local resistance.

Perhaps more worryingly is the two hundred plus war droids that Czerka Corp apparently has here on Kaliton according to their records. Which is odd because neither you nor any of the locals you have spoken to have noticed any sign of these war droids. Combined with the fact there was two groups of records that you couldn't access even with Administrator Varton's access, you can't help, but wonder if you should do some more investigating first.

Oh, and you were able to transfer a small fortune from Czerka Corp's local coffers into your bank account.

What happens next?
[] Bastila calls in Republic reinforcements to drive Czerka Corporation from Kaliton and arrest the local leadership for their crimes.
[] The crew of the Red Banner decide to do some additional investigation to find out what they are missing.
[] Write-in.

You had mixed luck with your rolls this update. First you got past the guards easily only to have trouble persuading the official until you pulled out mind tricks, which you got good rolls on. You then found plenty of usable evidence except a couple of things that you didn't get access to.

With the current vote, you got two choices. One is to call in help to deal with Czerka now before they catch onto you. You might mess what you didn't find or you might find it while dealing with Czerka and it might prove irrelevant either way as you take out the local Czerka operations. The other option is to go looking for what you missed, but it might not be relevant to taking down Czerka compared to what you already found and you run the risk of Czerka realising what you are up and doing something about it.

Please point out any spelling or grammar mistakes that you spot. Please quote them in the thread and explain what you think is wrong so I know what you are referring to. Feel to ask questions for more details and information.

Considering they have some mystery droids, I think it might be best to continue investigations...

Despite that I would wish for more info, I believe that this is one of the moments where it's best to take what we have and use it now.

...I have a bad feeling about this.

[X] Write-in Have mum call in the republic while you stay at the computer trying to find what you missed

Luka isn't able to get more from that computer. She will need to try other methods of getting the information, which is what the second option has you do.

Understood, I thought it would just take spikes or something. Didn't realize we needed to go somewhere else.

Understood, I thought it would just take spikes or something. Didn't realize we needed to go somewhere else.

I'm going to be using a different system for hacking then just using enough spikes to hack a computer. A computer spike will give a roll to hack a positive modifier, but you will still need to pass a roll to successful hack into something. In this case, Luka failed both rolls to get the additional information so she cannot give the information on this terminal.

The small, probably Sith-related army of droids bears looking into.
