The Jedi Crusader - A Star Wars Quest (Post-KOTOR AU)

Without modifiers, that's 15% chance of a crippling injury at 50% vitality...
Given that two hits were enough for this, and there's no force regeneration capable of restoring limbs...
We're going to have to make all our limbs cybernetic at this rate...
Three hits, including one from a lightsaber. For clarity's sake, getting hit is always a bad thing and that is intentional due to how often people die in Star Wars to a single hit from a blaster or lightsaber.

Well, we can get the replacement a cortosis weave. Hope fully it will solve the problem. Though losing four limbs first is going to be painful. I think injuries might need to be lessened, for example roll a d20, with or without modifiers, to check If there is an injury, then proceed to the chart if there is

Just suggesting of course. It is up to @Oshha and I am sure that he knows what he does, whatever he decides.
It is possible to get a cortosis weave in your prosthetic.

As for the injuries, I am going to say no. That is incentive to avoid unfair fights or get stronger through either the Force, experience or gear. Not that this fight was particularly avoidable outside of surrendering and I'm going to a chance for Luka to get some training done after this arc while she adjusts to her prosthetic.
I mean, we could start focusing a little more on combat upgrades. We also tried to split the middle here in a way that possibly netted us the worst result, so it won't always end up like this.
This is partially a factor. Luka is a fresh-faced padawan who is better suited for social affairs over martial ones. Once she has some more experience under belt and some better gear, she will be much better off in combat.

Fair enough. This is your quest, and I am sure you know what you are doing.

Nar Shaddaa: Captured
[X] Increase your Force by 3.
[X] Improve Reflex by 1.
[X] The Dice decide her fate.

When you wake up, you feel discomfort. Aches and pains throughout your body as your whole being feels sore. You try to reposition your body and your wince as the movement flares up the pain in your aching body. Letting out a groan, you try to remember what happened. Paying the docking fee, meeting Mum except you didn't because.... because the Sith ambushed you. You made your first kills, you got shot up and then...

You glance down at your right hand and you wince again as you see the cauterised stump that your right arm now ends in. You stare for a moment before looking away, uncomfortable at your hand just being missing. This is not how your first mission was supposed to go. Meeting Kira, freeing the slaves, hanging out with Aunt Mission and getting your own starship were great, but now everything is plummeting with you getting maimed in your first real fight before getting...

Oh right, you are captured.

Captured by the Sith no less. That is bad, but if they have taken you alive over just killing you, it means that you are likely to stay that way. Of course, that might not be a good thing considering your captors are Sith, but at least you got a chance of escape if you are alive.

Looking around, you take stock of your situation. You are locked in some kind of bare quarters in a base or a ship and in addition to losing your right hand, you have been stripped down to your underwear. If you are lucky, your gear will be nearby, but you will need to prepare for the chance that it isn't. You aren't chained up, but that doesn't mean much. It does mean that you have the chance to meditate, which probably won't help, but it is something to do rather than get body.

As you try to get to your feet, you slip and fall as your right hand is no longer there for you to support you as you get to your feet. That is going to be a pain, but hopefully a temporary one since if you make it out of this, Dad or Mum or someone will be able to get you a replacement. Heck, you could probably buy one with what is in your bank account.

Ughh...your body hurts. Your shoulder still feels burnt and you pretty such that you must have fallen or something because your whole body feels bruised and actually, you did fall. You were about three storeys up when you fell unconscious and that must be why your body hurts so much when you only got shot a couple of times.

Your right shoulder in particular hurts and when you look at it, it appears to be all burnt up around where you took the blaster bolt. Yet unlike your hand, the shoulder looks like it should recovery in time even if it will be painful and hindering for some time. That or some proper attention from a medpac or some other form of medical attention. Unfortunately, you don't have access to any of those right now.

***

You end up waiting only a few hours in meditation before someone comes to get you. The door to your bare quarters opens up with a trio of figures on the other side. The middle one is a Twi'lek in a skimpy black outfit that instantly makes you think slavery. Maybe you are stereotyping and she just happens to live that sort of thing but given where you are and how close she is to that stereotype, you fear the worst. The other two individuals are a pair of Sith troopers, one on either side of the doorway as they wait outside.

"The Mistress would like to speak with you," says the Twi'lek, "You are to come with me."

You debate whether or not to do that, but considering how your only alternative is meditation and you strongly suspect that the troopers with her will force the issue if you decline, you decide to just go along with it.

"I accept," you tell the Twi'lek, "Lead the way."

As you follow the woman out of your quarters, wincing with every other step, both of the Sith troopers fall in behind you, one on either side of you.

Thankfully, the journey isn't that long and you are led into a dining room. There is a somewhat long table, with two plates of food that looks decent with a glass of a drink that you can't identity. Yet the most eye-drawing thing is the woman seated at the other end of the table. Wearing black robes, the woman looks shorter than you with straight black hair that goes down to her shoulders and grey eyes that have an awfully concerning yellow tinge to them.

"Luka Shan," says the woman with a smile that seems normal, but makes you feel uneasy nonetheless, "It is a pleasure to finally meet you. I wish it was under better circumstances, but we have to make do with what we got.

"Yes, we do," you reply carefully as you eye the chair that has been left out on the other side of the table, clearly meant for you to sit judging by the position and plate of food.

"Please sit Luka," says the woman with an air of expectation.

"Who are you?" you ask, ignoring her demand.

She responds by blasting you with Force lightning from her fingertips. With no way to dodge or block it, you take it head out and you let out a cry of pain as the electricity goes through your body.

"I am Darth Malice," answers the woman as you gasp for breath, "I am willing to grant you some forbearance given the circumstances, but be fully aware that mercy is not a weakness that I possess."

You stagger slightly as your body throbs with pain, new and old, you glare at her.

"Good, be angry at me," says Darth Malice as she grins at you in an earnest, but disconcerting way, "Now sit."

Glaring at her, you take a deep breath before gentlely sitting down, wincing a bit as your sore buttocks make contact with the chair.

"I must apologise regarding the hand," says Darth Malice after she takes another bit of her dinner, "I did not tell Horack to chop it off, but the boy can get so enthusiastic. Still, he is to be no concern of you or I any longer as I left him back on Nar Shaddaa for your mother to deal with."

"Back on Nar Shaddaa?" you repeat with a sinking feeling at what those words mean.

"Well, I obviously wasn't going to stick around on the same planet as Bastila Shan after kidnapping and maiming her daughter," says Darth Malice, "So I decided to take my leave and left my old apprentice behind to take the fall and keep your mother busy. We entered hyperspace a few hours ago and we got a couple of days until we arrive at our destination. That gives me plenty of time to convince you to be my new apprentice."

"I will never be your apprentice," you snap back automatically and you cry out in pain as more Force Lightning arcs through your battered body.

"That is the punishment for disobedience," states Darth Malice with a look that is supposed to be disappointed, but the woman is too gleeful to pull it off, "But I suppose I should have expected this. You wouldn't make for much of apprentice if you just gave in. In the meantime, please eat. I would hate for you to go hungry."

You give the woman another glare before looking down at the meat and vegetables on your plan. You are hungry and getting some food in your stomach is better than getting electrocuted again. Picking up your fork, you begin to eat the vegetables, unsure of how you are going to cut the meat with only one hand.

"I presume that you know the Sith Code," says Darth Malice after a few moments of both you and her eating in silence, "Or were the Jedi to afraid to tell you it."

"I know, I just don't care for nonsense," you reply, "I will never embrace the Dark Side."

And for that, you receive another burst of Force Lightning and you clench your hand around your fork as you try to resist the urge to cry out in pain. Then you do scream as you feel your remaining hand on fire.

You drop your half-melted fork as the Force Lightning stops and you attempt to clutch your hand, only to find yourself unable to do so thanks to your other hand being missing.

"Whoops," you vaguely here Darth Malice say, "It appears I went overboard. Could somebody take her to medical?"

***

You let out a sigh of relief as the medical droid applies the kolto patch to your burnt hand, making most of the pain go away. You aren't sure if Darth Malice meant for more than just your latest injury to be tended to, but after the Sith troopers have escorted you to the medical bay, the resident medical droid begins to tend to all of your various injuries.

It doesn't do much for your hand, but a lot of your other aches and pains either go away or are lessened as the medical droid systemically does what it can to treat them. It isn't able to fully treat your injuries or just chooses not to, but it is significantly better than nothing and now your remaining hand feels usable rather than useless. Which is definitely good even if it will take some time or more extensive medical care to fully recover.

"The prisoner's injuries have been tended to," states the medical droid as it turns its attention away from you and to the Sith troopers guarding you.

"Good," says one of the troopers before turning to you, "Come with us."

He states with a confidence that he cannot be disobeyed and for that, you are tempted to disobey simply to shatter his expectations. But that wouldn't be to your benefit right now as you can't see anything good coming from getting beat up just after receiving medical attention.

So for now you oblige him, following him along as the other Sith trooper falls in behind you. As you march through the corridors, you spot an opportunity in the form of an unguarded escape pod.

All you would need to do is keep these two guards off your back long enough to make it to the escape pod. That would be difficult without your right hand or a lightsaber, but you are a Jedi and you have the Force at your disposal.

But do you want to escape right now? It would certainly be risky, but then again, would that risk really be worse than having the personal attentions of a Sith Lady whilst being her prisoner?

A couple of things. First, I changed the level up system so rather than increasing in amounts of 100, it increases by 50 each time. Secondly, Luka has a chance to make an escape attempt where she just needs to get away from the two troopers escorting her. She is pretty confident in her chances of getting away through she can't be certain of it.

For her circumstances, Luka is pretty banged up and on her own. She currently has no gear and is forced to rely upon her own body and the Force. For now, Darth Malice wants her alive to convince Luka to become her apprentice, but she seems to be happy using torture to do that and Luka doubts she will be too upset if she goes overboard.

As for the situation, I'm unfamiliar with SW canon regarding the viability of launching an escape pod from a ship that's currently in hyperspace, but it sounds like a really bad idea to me, so right now there's no particular reason for the pod to be guarded...

Uh, there is no mention of spare clothes after this. Is she still in her underwear when the Twi'lek came?

Yes. Darth Malice hasn't seen fit to leave Luka enough clothing other than to see to the most basic needs of modesty. If you want an idea of what sort of clothing she is wearing, think to what Mission Vao wore in KOTOR when she had nothing equipped on her body slot.

Fixed. Thanks for catching those.

Normally it is a really bad idea, but Luka has a good feeling about doing it now.

You wouldn't make for much of apprentice if you just gave him
in, after Malice blasted Luka for refusing to be her apprentice.

[X] [Luka] She decides that the risk isn't worth it.
I think it is better to bide our time for now. If we use that escape pod and we are in the middle of nowhere, the chance of rescue drops to near zero since space is a huge and distress signals mean that Malice could also easily find Luka and blast our pod for disobeying and just be done with us.

All travel supposedly goes in the same hyperspace routes, so there is a good chance some other ship will pass, especially since we came from Nar Shadaa which is a main hub. Think of it as getting dropped at the middle of nowhere, but near a main road. The chance a car will pass are high, since it can't pass anywhere in the area.

[X] [Luka] She decides to make an escape attempt.
This situation is kind of interesting, but fuck sticking around the crazy Sith. We're in no shape to make any kind of play here. Since we have a strong suspicion this is viable, I say we go for it.

What does this trait do?

Surprising no one, the Sith abandons her apprentice at the first opportunity. Here's hoping Bastila takes him alive and that he knows something.

You decide to go for it. It will be risky, but is it less risky than leaving yourself here to suffer the personal attentions of Darth Malice. You don't think so and besides, you got a good feeling about this.

Okay, you need to deal with these two guards quickly and without raising a fuss. You have only the Force and what remains of your body to rely upon and while the limits your options, you still do have options. Taking a deep breath and steadying your focus, you call upon the Force and use it to stun the guard behind you. With a grunt, the man stagger to a halt as he is left too dazed to move.

"What is-" starts the other Sith trooper as he begins to turn around, but you are already in motion.

"You will do as I say," you say firmly, waving your hand as you put your best effort into the Jedi Mind Trick.

"I will follow your orders ma'am," replies the Sith trooper and you feel a rush of relief at your gambit having worked.

Knowing that the stun will wear off soon, you turn to face the other Sith trooper.

"You will follow my orders," you tell him, once again waving your hand as you try to pull off another mind trick.

"N-no-no!" groans the Sith trooper as he shakes his head.

While annoyed at it not working, you react swiftly before the man can recover and hit him with another stun.

"Give me your blaster pistol and take off his helmet and then your own," you order to the Sith trooper that did fall for your trick.

As expected of a soldier serving under the Sith, the man does exactly that and he hands over his sidearm to you without hesitation before moving over to remove the helmet of his stunned companion. He yanks the silver helmet off of the second guard's head before removing his own. Knowing what you must do, you aim your new blaster pistol at the stunned guard's now exposed head as the stun begins to wear off and pull the trigger. The man jerks back as the blaster bolt burns into his face before collapsing like a puppet that had its strings snapped. While the other Sith trooper stares the newly made corpse, you swing your aim around and pull the trigger again, feeling a bit guilty about killing someone who was following your orders. But you don't feel all that guilty as you know that he actually works for Darth Malice and would never work with or for you if you hadn't messed with his mind first.

Hoping that nobody heard the two gunshots, you begin to loot the two corpses. The armour would take too long to take off and neither sets are in your size anyway. You do gave the belt and the energy shields that each trooper had one of. From there, you attach both of the blaster pistols and both of the vibroblades to your newly acquired belt and strapping the blaster rifle to your back. You won't be able to use all of them, but the extra weaponry might come in handy wherever you end up.

Making your way to the escape pod, you claim inside before waiting for the right moment when it just feels right to launch the escaped pod. And when that moment comes, you slam down on the button. The escape pod ejects from the ship and you have barely a moment between detaching from the Sith ship and exiting hyperspace. Within moments, the screens of the pod are flaring up with warnings as you apparently came out of hyperspace close to a planet. And from the looks of it, the planet has some people living on it even if they aren't many. Looking for the largest settlement, you redirect the escape pod so it will come down close to it.

With your immediate future sorted, you begin to look through the contents of the escape pod, The pod doesn't have much, but it does have some basics like bottled water and ration bars. It also has some basic survival tools and more importantly, it has a survival suit. Eager to be wearing something other than your underwear, you quickly put it on. It isn't exactly comfortable, but survival suits like this are meant to fit a variety of body shapes over fitting just one comfortably.

Eventually the escape pod hits the ground and having strapped yourself in, you are able to avoid the worst of the impact. As it is, being roughed up a bit by the escape pod is practically nothing compared to how beat up the rest of your body is.

Looking outside, you shiver at what you see even if the escape pod keeps you from actually feeling the coldness of this world. You aren't sure if you landed somewhere in the cold regions of the planet or if the planet was just an ice world, but it was freezing outside. Fortunately the escape pod had a survival suit as you would have never survived out there in your underwear. Even with the survival suit, you don't particularly want to go out, but you have no choice. You need to get the lay of the land and that means going out into the cold. It doesn't mean you need to stay out there long. Just enough to get a feel for the local area so you can withdraw to the warmth of the escape pod and plan your next move.

Grabbing a vibroblade and blaster pistol, you exit the escape pod and the first thing you do is shiver as you are hit with the coldness of this world. It isn't too cold, but there is a difference between cold enough to harm you and being cold enough to be uncomfortable. Your survival suit keeps the temperature from being the former from being the case, but isn't good enough to keep the latter from occurring.

Your brief exploration reveals two things to you. In addition to being cold, this region of the world is mountainous and hilly with little even ground. Large Crystal formations dominate the landscape and once you have identified that they are not any sort of kyber crystal, you wonder just what they are capable of. Said wondering is quickly cut short as you hear an landspeeder approach the crash site of your escape pod.

"Governor Nea Bryna of Kaliton," says the Twi'lek woman as you sit down in front of her desk, "You would be Luka?"

The Governor of Kaliton has yellow skin and green eyes with a face and body that both look attractive, something that is not unsurprising given that she is a Twi'lek woman. You don't like to stereotype or be prejudiced, but it would be a lie to say that you be surprised to run into a Twi'lek woman who wasn't good looking. As it is, Governor Bryna seems to playing up her looks as the woman wears both formal clothing of solidly good quality and plenty of jewellery from a headpiece to a necklace to earrings to bracelets to rings. Yet while she meets the stereotypical look, she does stand out in one way as Governor Bryna has a very athletic and muscular build with more than a handful of scars.

"Correct," you confirm as while you have withheld your rather famous last name, you have given the locals your first name.

"You seem like a fellow fighter so I'll be blunt with you," says Governor Bryna, "Who are you to crash landing on our planet with a small arsenal of weaponry with a multitude of recent injuries all over your body, including your right hand being missing?"

"I am a Jedi Padawan who was captured by a Sith and her forces," you answer, calling upon the Force to float the woman's empty glass off her desk and over to your hand, "I took my injuries in the battle that saw me captured and my ensuring captivity. I don't suppose you have HoloNet access here?"

"Do we need to worry about Sith showing up here looking for you?" demands the woman sharply as she stares at the glass in her hand, ignoring your question.

"No, I launched the escape pod while they were still in hyperspace," you answer as you float the glass back to its original place on her desk, "They have no way of finding me."

"Good," says Governor Bryna and you can see the woman visibly relaxing, "Now down to business. What do you want with Kaliton?"

"Either a way off-world or a means of communication to contact someone to come and pick me up," you answer, "I have no desire to cause trouble or get involved in any trouble until I had a chance to recover from the injuries i have sustained."

"I will see what I can arrange," replies Governor Bryna, "Speaking of your escape pod, I am willing to trade your claim to it and its contents in exchange for giving you some medical care. We got limited facilities, but you certainly look like you could benefit from what we got."

"Deal," you answer since as you have already brought everything you wanted to keep with you, it is an easy deal to make.

First of all, the planet you have landed on is made up by me. It has no canon counterpart for you to worry about. As for what happens now, Luka will roll for quality of medical attention that she receives and you got the chance to do some things including potentially going on an adventure.

As for your old gear, you have lost it for now since you didn't have a chance to get anything before escaping. I have kept a list of what you previously had in case you get a chance to recover it in the future, but for now, you are down to what Luka was able to get on her way out.

Please point out any spelling or grammar mistakes that you spot. Please quote them in the thread and explain what you think is wrong so I know what you are referring to. Feel to ask questions for more details and information.

Well that went fairly smoothly. Time to rearm and get our bearings. Also I wonder what would have happened if Luka had said yes. Get the feeling she would have tried to make us disappear.

Because Luka is friendly like that. I don't think we can make a new lightsaber without the crystal, so I wanna be friendly.
