The Jedi Crusader - A Star Wars Quest (Post-KOTOR AU)

Nar Shaddaa: Scouting the Ship
[X] She makes use of her new stealth field generator and attempts to scouts out the landing pad.

"Wait here," you tell Kira, "I am going to take a closer look."

"Using that stealth belt you brought?" inquires Kira.

"Yes," you confirm.

"I will have your back if anyone pulls a blaster on you," says the Togruta and you nod your acknowledgement to her.

You briefly consider the possibly of trying to sneak about the ship itself as you activate your belt, but in the end, you deem that option to be too risky. You don't know what sort of security features the ship will have onboard while the landing pad is open and quite clearly unsecure beyond whatever guards they got posted. Sure you still run the risk of being spotted, but the chance is practically nothing thanks to your new stealth field generator.

Making sure to move slowly to avoid breaking the camouflage field that makes you invisible to the naked eye, you carefully make your way down to the landing pad from the venture point that you and Kira were using. When you finally reach the landing pad, you can count a total of four guards plus a couple of targets. Two men with both turrets at the walkway leading to the landing pad whilst a man and a woman stand on either side of the ship's open ramp.

All four are wearing combat suits like yourself, but unlike you, they are wielding either blaster pistols or blaster rifles. Lightly and cheaply armed then. Either their boss isn't expecting trouble or they don't consider heavier gear to be worth the investment. Or maybe they do and the turrets are of good quality or perhaps there are better equipped guards aboard the ship.

This is too easy. You aren't sure that you are missing something, but this seems too good to be true. A few guards that are poorly equipped cannot be all that stands between you and a few hundred slaves. Not with the current fighting between the Exchange and the Hutts. Even if one side was going to rely upon their reputation over physical measures to provide security, they wouldn't do so while there was an ongoing gang war.

Or maybe you aren't missing anything and things are just going your way.

Fortunately, this isn't your problem and all you got to do is give this information to Mum so she can figure out how to deal with this situation. Or at least that was the plan before the wrong Jedi showed up.

When a figure in the brown robes and wielding a lightsaber leaps into account. For a moment, you think it is Mum making a surprise appearance, but you swiftly dismiss that thought. Mum would have called you before going committing to action. Furthermore, this Jedi is not Mum as for starters, he has a blue lightsaber with a single blade rather than the double-bladed yellow lightsaber that Mum uses and the Jedi is also a male Zabrak rather than a human female, something you can tell by the fact that the Jedi has a horned hairless head instead of large bosom.

He carves one of the guards next to the turrets in two and as the fight breaks out, you are left with a split-second to make your choice.

So I rolled for any random events happening and you got the other Jedi currently on Nar Shaddaa showing up. Unlike you, he is taking the more direct approach so now you got to choose how to react to that.

Please point out any spelling or grammar mistakes that you spot. Please quote them in the thread and explain what you think is wrong so I know what you are referring to. Feel to ask questions for more details and information.

I'm pretty sure were going to regret this, but what the hell! Let's go, mah bois!

He looks like he can handle himself. We'll help if he is in trouble.

Luka's parents and sect are considered heretical by the other Jedi sect, so let's not act precipitously. Plus we only care about the slaves being rescued. Who cares if someone else does it?

They're not on the best of terms, but they're both still Jedi. They're not going to attack us. We don't even know which group this guy is from. The fighting has begun, the best thing to do is to get the slaves to safety as quickly as possible before some spiteful or desperate gang boss decides to cut off their nose to spite their face.

This was a rather hard choice for me, but something came to my mind. It was said to appear as too easy. What if there is a Sith there? I didn't know about whether to fight on the front along the other Jedi or do a surprise attack in case he gets over his head, but eventually I decided upon going with the latter mindset.

I don't know. Jedi can be pretty judgemental. I think it's too great a risk.

I will say that Jedi don't just attack other Jedi unless those Jedi have fallen to the Dark Side. There are exceptions of course, but if this Jedi is a Traditionalist and not a Revanite, he isn't just going to attack Luka on sight. Worrying about him considering Luka to be a heretic isn't going to be a problem in the sense of it being life or death. At worst, he will refuse to work with you.

Well, there I go. Overly paranoid. You were right, Deuterium Dawn.

I want to clarify that for all their differences, both branches do recognise the other as not having fallen to the Dark Side and not consisting of Sith/Dark Jedi. They don't seek to actively wipe out the other for being Dark Jedi, but disagree about the best way to follow the Light Side. Their fights are limited to politics, diplomacy and PR, not open warfare and the like. Additionally, both branches are legally recognised as being legitimate parts of the Jedi Order.

That isn't to say that things are all fine and rosy between them, but the Council Jedi and Revanite Jedi aren't enemies and Luka doesn't consider the Traditionalist Jedi to be her foes, just annoying allies that she will sometimes have to work with.

Do the Traditionalists know about the greater Sith threat still lurking out there?

Yes. Revan has told them, the rest of the Jedi (both Council and Revanite), Mandalore the Preserver and the Clans who follow him and the Supreme Council. He has also told members of the Republic military and the Galactic Senate that he trusts though the entirety of both organisations are too large and, despite Revan's best efforts, too corrupt for him to trust the organisations themselves with the knowledge.

Luka isn't entirely in the know as while she knows that the Sith are lurking out there and are a big threat to the Republic, she doesn't know the details yet.

Nar Shaddaa: Staying Stealthy
[X] She stays in stealth mode and keeps out of the battle.

With only a split-second to make your choice, you chose to remain hidden. You don't know who this Jedi is and it doesn't look like you need his help. Plus you have no issue with what he is trying to do because freeing the slaves is what you came here to do and you don't care who frees them so long as they do get freed.

And as such, you decide err on the side of caution and carefully back up to avoid the firefight that has just started, pulling out your new datapad so you can message Mum about this newest change to your plans.

The Jedi Knight quickly proves that he doesn't need your help as he slashes one of the turrets in two. The slaver guards quickly open fire, but as usually the case, blasters don't work so well against a Jedi with a lightsaber. One guard misses while the Jedi deflects the blaster bolts of the other two, including a couple that hit one of the guards by the ramp in the chest. He lets out a cry of pain as he drops, his combat suit doing little to protect him. A sobering reminder for yourself as while your new armour is better than nothing, the reason it was so cheap is due to the low quality protection it provides.

As you type in a message to Mum, the second turret soon suffers the fate of the first before the Jedi makes a slashing arc at the guard next to him. The slaver scrambles backwards, barely avoiding a fiery-hot death that the blue lightsaber blade would have given him. A fate that is only delayed as the Jedi Knight takes him out with a follow up attack before turning to face the final guard. For a moment, neither moves as the Jedi solemnly stares down the nervous guard. In the end, the slaver finds some courage as he opens fire with his blaster rifle yet it ends poorly for him when the Jedi deflects the blaster bolt back into into the neck of the shooter.

With his final foe fallen, the Jedi walks onto the landing pad before stopping as he looks around. For a moment, you think that he has spotted you despite your stealth field as his gaze lingers on your position for a moment, but it soon passes as he continues his sweep and his eyes spend more time on the ship's turrets than they do on you. Without realising that you are there, he walks right past you and onto the ship.

You watch him go before looking down at your datapad to see that Mum has sent you a message, informing you that she is on her way.

Short update this time around. I was going to make it longer, but I wasn't sure what Luka would do here and I figured that it was a good stopping point for the players to exert some agency.
