[X] Get the book out of the pocket dimension.

At the very least we should have our weapon nearby. Also, that 'disrespectful' comment makes me think it might be sentient.

[X] Get the book out of the pocket dimension.

Time to make things go boom!! Can we pick the type of high explosive were using? And can we shape the charge? Let's experiment as we blow things up!!

I presume that "Bombicon" is a portmanteau of "Bomb" and "Necronomicon".

[X] Get the book out of the pocket dimension.
-[X] Then go search for them.

Getting the book takes, like, a second, tops.
I thought the same thing. Sadly, it's already been written and is about to be posted.

Stick around a few minutes, be the first to vote on the next post.

[X]Get the book out of the pocket dimension.

You have to find your targets, but first the thought of what your master might have meant by that bugs you. 'Come to me!' and it does. Appearing in your hand before you even finish the thought. Everything in your vision goes blue the second it touches your skin, the area around you reflecting like the moon is in full rise. But looking up, there's nothing in the sky. Hell, looking around you're not even completely sure you're still in the same area. The rock walls are there, but they're moving, the individual boulders in the landscape floating around as if it was all given a single command. Live.

You see a bunch of men taking cover behind the outline of where the now moving rocks started. But it doesn't appear they know they're moving, and men come from the other side, you start to be under the impression you should move. But before you can, the area is filled with bullets, several flying through you without any consequence. The bullets bouncing off the outlines, like the rocks are still there. Are you watching a small battlefield?

There are nine people here, four taking cover, five on the attacking side. You have three targets? Who's who? Which side?
It hits you what you've been asked to do. You expected them to already be dead, you, you have to kill them?

You start to panic a little bit, but before you can, the book in your hand gets very hot. And you have to . You stare down and rip it open, in the pages a golden lettering has appeared. But you don't read them, as much as they're instantly burned into your mind. A dark and echoed voice playing in your head.
"Death is the chaotic version of life, unfair and unforgiving. It comes to the weak, the strong, the suffering, the happy, the old, and the young. Forget your human limits, your aspirations of peace. You are death, and you're unfair! Pick a side, and show it fear."

'But-'

And it blazes alive, flames scorching words into the pages, the smoky ashes flowing right into your eyes instantly, and you hear it again.

"Then wait, Aeternam."

[]Wait, surely only those meant to die will. And you were told 3.
[]Slay the defenders, they obviously did something to get shot. They're probably your targets.
[]Slay the attackers, they instigated this, it's only fair they die.
[]Write-in

Our 'mentor' told us that we had three targets, and that we were to kill them. Everything to date has very much given me the impression that no bastard would bat an eyelid about extra deaths, but I doubt that we would be looked on favourably for failing to fulfill our objectives.

[X] All Burn. Use incendiaries to eradicate both groups.

Thanks, wrote this in a hurry and my keyboard is fucked.

And what is it you've seen thus far that makes you think that's the bad option?
I'm not saying it's not, or if it is. But I'm curious. Good to know what messages I'm sending off. Subtly or otherwise.
Actually come to think of it, based on what we've seen, if we leave it, things will probably not turn out "as they should be", but no-one is likely to give a damn.

edit: Although I doubt our supervisor would appreciate us not killing a whole bunch of people.

I like that you're thinking, I do. but I would like to know what makes you think so?
I repeat, I need to make sure I'm sending the right signals, for the right reasons. Kind of a novice writer.

Well, there's the "Death is unfair" speech from the book, there's the fact that it has been mentioned several times that becoming a death happens without rhyme or reason, often due to having killed a death.

The possibility of someone killing a death seems to entail that deaths are not predestined, or at least that if they are, the Deaths aren't in on it.

No character that we have met yet has given us the impression that they are terribly fussy about details. eg. Rose's "the rules aren't terribly important anyway", and the Red Death's "Just go these three targets who I will tell you nothing whatever about. I'm sure you'll figure it out."

There is probably more that cultivated the impression, but I have forgotten it.

That help?
