The Best Damn Fics You've Ever Read.

I recommend the Red Dead Redemption 2 Fanfiction what wastes and deserts of the soul. Basic premise of it is that Arthur is somehow resurrected with amnesia in some no name town in the middle of nowhere. Its really slow burn, and really, really long, but its worth the read.

I think one thing I really like about it is that, unlike the vast majority of fanfictions I've read with Arthur, he doesn't seem to have been made cuddlier than he was. A majority of them turn the hot headed, violent, back talking outlaw into some pure, gentle soul that deserves and needs all the love in the world. Not this one, here he's got a temper, but can definitely be a nice guy.

The fic does not appear to be complete, which is required of all recommendations in this thread.

Yeah, I have to second that. It's short, but frankly that's a very good thing. Does not overstay its welcome or wear out the gag.

Though I did find myself wondering extensively what Unsolved Supernatural is or isn't like in a world with aliens and magic just like a thing that publicly exists.
I'll third this, I haven't laughed that hard in a long time, and humor for it's own sake is often underappreciated artistically.

On another note, while it feels wrong to rec it on the same page as Accomplice, but I would like to rec The Startling Secret Identity of The Batman which is a (in-universe) Buzzfeed Unsolved look into the many possible true identities of Batman and the reaction therein of the Batfamily and other associated characters. Which frankly made me laugh to a degree I have not done so in months.
I read that on your recommendation and you're right that it was very amusing. Not sure if it qualifies for 'best damn fic I've ever read' but definitely good.

I don't know that much about Doctor Who aside from few episodes that I cought from time to time but this oneshot story that has Doctor talk about the time was and what it means to be a temporal power is very interesting.

Time v3-0 By: Teyke
It has been suggested that after his eighth regeneration, the Doctor begins lying about his age. The official explanation is that he has simply lost track. This is a third possible explanation for the discrepancy between his ages in the new and old series.
Rated: Fiction T - English - Sci-Fi/Tragedy - 8th Doctor, 10th Doctor, Martha J. - Words: 10,552 - Reviews: 13 - Favs: 70 - Follows: 13 - Published: Jan 26, 2014 - Status: Complete - id: 10053260

This part about Humanity is amazing;
And if any of these lesser races would have evolved or grown, then they'd have been locked away in the Time War with all the rest. It's an inescapable trap: You survived because you are lesser. You are lesser because you survived.

Highly recommend it.

It is as great as it is horrifying.
Time v3.0 gets a rec from me.

I keep forgetting Ao3 is allowed here.

A glimpse into the Whoniverse that makes the tv series feel small and insignificant in scope, with a huge emphasis on lore, both of the classical and renewal.

It was written before Day of the Doctor, so it is technically no longer (technically) compliant with canon without jumping through mental hoops, but I think it still stands up as one of the best fics I've had the pleasure of reading. It shows why a written medium can be so much better than a visual one.

you're not mistaken folks, it was rec'ed before.

And the Unethical Binding Contract is a Harry Potter fic which features the Triwizard Tournament taking place in Harry's First year at Hogwarts, not his Fourth. It ages up Cedric, Victor, and Fleur so they're all still the other competitors, and it's Quirrelmort handling the logistics of the plan rather than Crouch, but everything else is preserved.
This story really highlights the differences between fourteen year-old Harry, who has experienced the wonder of magic and friendship and has practice at fighting monsters and evil, and eleven year-old Harry, small and scrawny and oh so young, whose entry into the world of magic is accompanied by the immediate arrival of something that's likely to kill him. It's quite sombering for everyone. Suspicion is largely replaced with sympathy, the cries about unfairness are all raised for Harry rather than against him, and the majority of people just want to wrap Harry up in a blanket and protect him from the world.

Okay, I have a series I'd like to recommend. It's Force Bond, by KittandChips. There's a series, but the highlight for me are the multiple side stories. Effectively, it's a story about Darth Vader raising Luke Skywalker, and the highlight is the great grasp of character. Darth Vder, the Sith, also trying to be a decent dad, while the author also has a very good grasp of how kids react and writes Luke as an actual kid doing stupid, illogical stuff. It's great, heartwarming, and definitely deserving of the best damn fic status, and given it was written in 2001, one of the original Darth Vader adopts Luke fics, if not the original. The series is complete, as are most of the side stories, but the author will occasionally add a sides story.

Just finished reading the 4 actual sections, I'll second.

Yeah, I'll second that rec.
