Aside from using the Dagger of Mortis, I don't see us taking Palps in a head-on fight. He is just too powerful for us to overcome, and while we are skilled in the Force, we are by no means a combat specialist, and our allies are likewise hardly on the level of say Darth Revan or Exar Kun or Marka Ragnos. The Ysalamiri are our best bet aside from the Dagger, and they render the Force a non-entity for all parties not just Sidious, which means individuals like Ventress would also be reduced in effectiveness somewhat.

Also, where is Stage 4?

Whoops, that one's on me. I originally had plans for a 'Stage 4: Revitalize the Galactic Economy' given the predictable (and frankly inevitable) galactic crash once Palpatine dies, war ends, and everything has to be reshuffled back to peace-time. But I realized that the other Stages were already a bit overwhelming, so I'm releasing that part of the aftermath once we hit next turn's Report. Forgot to reorder the numbers, though; good catch.

I would also like to propose a possible 7th stage to the opperation.

Reforming the sith, or establishing a new baseline for the dark side of the force.

If we reform the Jedi, then eventually some arrogant darksider will try to take up the mantle of the sith and try to resurrect them. Or try to set up a new form of dark side group.
Best to preempt the process, and establish our own baseline that is a... mellower than the past examples. Priority on indirect control and manipulation over overt ruling. Indulgent pleasures over outright cruelty. ect.. ect..
Something that will let them indulge their power and abilities, with less risk of plunging the galaxy into open war.

Well we are not generals in the republic army or whatever so those orders do not apply to us.

Can't believe I missed the return of this. Well.

Time to re read. I can barely remember anything.

No they apply to everyone we haven't reached in the Grand Army of the Republic who's orders will compel them to execute all force users of whom we quality.
pretty sure those order are for all jedi generals. we are not a jedi nor a general. lots of ppl we would not want dead will likely die but those orders are do not factor in us.

So, why is it that the Jedi are so fundamental that the rest of the galaxy spins around them? If we can reform them they would certainly be quite helpful, but I am not quite sure why a good ending is impossible without a functional jedi order.

They're a symbol of hope for the galaxy. Yes, there are other light-side Force Orders, but none have been so prominent in the public eye. Getting them functional means that to a lot of people that the Galaxy will be getting back into shape.

Watsonian perspective: the Jedi are (and have been for 25,000 years) the embodiment of the light side of the Force. The Force is a galaxy-spanning energy field that seems to have a will of its own, and Thrawn observes from the historical evidence that the Force really really likes the Jedi. He's not Kreia, not mad enough to conclude that the solution is to kill the Force. So: Jedi must survive. Even if they become a reborn Je'daii on Tython. Even if it means the Coruscant Order dies out and a new Jedi Order grows from the teachings of <shakes magic eight-ball> the Zeison Sha? Okay, whatever, good enough.

Doylist perspective: pretty much everyone who's written for this quest (Teron, Dr. Snark, Barondoctor, Publicola) care deeply about the future of the Jedi and what reforms would make the Jedi Order better. However, there's no reason that 'reform the Jedi Order' should be a necessary part of this quest's finish line, given that the goal is 'kill Palpatine'. So I sprinkled a little fairy dust and voila! One more stage of 'save the galaxy'. :D

Not to mention from a sheer pragmatism stance: if you have the choice of preserving a group of elite diplomats and warriors capable of being single-person conflict resolution engines enabling you to stabilize large swaths of the galaxy and extinguish small local brushfires...or just kinda letting them die because they're inconvenient once in a while? Which option is going to leave you with a more stable galaxy? The first one.

Turn 30 Rumor Mill
Galactic News

HoloNet News reports: Shu Mai Out From Commerce Guild! The Gossam executive has been ousted from her position as Presidente. Commerce Guild stockholders have already voted in her successor, a reclusive Miralukan accountant named 'Priam' who has promised to bring the megacorporation back into solvency. Priam will also serve as the representative for the Commerce Guild on the Separatist Council.

CIS Shadowfeed reports: Rogue Admiral Defeated At Kalee! The Harch admiral has already been disavowed by the Separatist Parliament, and (according to a statement released by the Hyper-Communications Cartel) will soon be formally and postumously cashiered by the Separatist Council for his unprovoked attack on the CNS system of Kalee. Still no word on what caused the famed CIS admiral to launch his mad assault on a neutral world.

HoloNet News reports: Malevolence Still At Large! The CIS fleet-killer continues to threaten the galaxy, according to reports from the Republic fleet. Admiral Zsinj, commanding the Pride of the Core, is in dogged pursuit. In a recent statement, the Admiral suggested that the Malevolence may be moving to the galactic south through little-trafficked hyperlanes in the Mid Rim. Its ultimate destination is unknown at this time.

IRIS Network reports: Armand Isard Dead! The famed Director of both civilian and military intelligence agencies in the Galactic Republic was found dead in his apartment on 500 Republica, apparently killed by Covert Ops clone troopers. The motive is unknown, though Republic Intelligence has recently been rocked by scandal after it was revealed that Republic Intelligence secretly maintains a number of Covert Ops kill teams to assassinate any clone soldier who deserts. Isard is survived by his young daughter, Ysanne, who has been taken into protective custody by the Office of the Supreme Chancellor.

Underworld News

"Hey, you ever heard of Yoda, the little green alien who's apparently some sort of Jedi big-shot? Apparently, the wizards are all in a tizzy because he hasn't been back to Coruscant in a while. But get this -- some of my smuggler friends were saying they saw the little guy on Corellia!" "I heard he was sighted on Lianna, out in the Rim." "Oh come on. Lianna's an ecumenopolis. It'd be more than a rumor if he travelled there. No, I heard he was last seen visiting one of the moons of Yavin. Apparently there were some interesting ruins he had decided to visit."

"Yeah, Isard the Lizard's dead, and the Sibbies are scrambling to find out who to blame. The whole deck of cards just collapsed; time to strike when the iron's hot!"

"Ooh, someone's running a pretty clever shell game. Here's the low-down: you know how the CNS reactivated Fort Garnik as a command center and depot? Well, it turns out that when the CNS was bringing military supplies from other border worlds, some of it got lost in the confusion. Some of my smuggler friends got hired to transport some CNS-branded military hardware off-planet. One of 'em put a tracker on a few shipments, and you know what he found? They're winding up in the hands of the Republic Navy!"

Organization News

Jedi Shadow Walks Among Us: Celeste Morne may be 4000 years old, but she's looking pretty spry in her dotage (not to mention as hot as a Zeltron, which is the real surprise for a quadrimillenarian). Yoda is still missing, but we're all wondering how he feels about being the new kid on the block.

Rocks Walk Among Us: Cheriss brought friends, and they're all rocks. Sentient crystals, technically, most of whom are surprisingly good at engineering, some of whom can use the Force, so don't mess with them and definitely don't ask them about whether they knew Skippy the Jedi Droid.

Droids Walk Among Us: PR-1 is now Priam, and Priam is now in charge of one of the galaxy's biggest megacorporations. Droid-rights activists celebrate. Everyone who knows better worries about the paperwork. Priam is reportedly "very busy, no time right now".

Assassins Walk Among Us: We're pleased to report that Honoghr has been cleansed of the 'accidentally' released CIS bioweapon. We're less pleased to report that the native Noghri are themselves pleased with Lady Ciaran and want to work for her. Noghri are by all accounts surprisingly effective assassins, emphasis on 'surprise'. Please send help.

Republic Navy Smugglers: Yularen has contacted Lady Ciaran regarding the theft of military hardware destined for Fort Garnik on Ord Mantell. Apparently, a convoy of 'free traders' was detected by his fleet along a nearby hyperlane in the northern Mid Rim, but he let them pass under orders from Republic high command. Upon investigating further, he discovered that the Republic Navy has been funnelling CNS hardware to supply Yularen's fleet -- all of his recent supply shipments originated from CNS space. Given Yularen's role in discrediting Tarkin, this may be an attempt at reprisal by Tarkin's allies or by Palpatine directly.

Separatist Smugglers: Priam has uncovered a fairly sizable smuggling operation, moving military hardware out of Neutral Space in the eastern Inner and Mid Rims and to foundry worlds belonging to the CIS. The shipping manifests are pretty blatant forgeries, so this is a relatively new operation and one designed for a short-term injection of materiel. Our analysts suspect that the CNS-branded supplies will be used in an upcoming CIS attack.

Planetary News

Coruscant: According to media reports, confirmed by our surveillance around the Jedi Temple, the Coruscant Jedi have abruptly stopped any communication with the general public or the Senate, despite ongoing debates about the 'Jedi Acts'. There is still a regular flow of Jedi leaving and entering the Temple, but no members of the media or public are permitted to so much as approach the Temple, and no one knows what has led to the change in policy.

Cato Neimoidia: According to our wiretaps of Trade Federation headquarters, Viceroy Nute Gunray has agreed to work more closely with the Commerce Guild and Techno Union, and has been observed to take a more cooperative stance towards Count Dooku. The fact that this change in behavior occurred after a private meeting between Gunray and Priam surprises no one.

Castell: The new Presidente has an astonishingly high 83% approval rating among the Gossam of Castell after his first months as Presidente. Of course, the Gossam were the ones who helped put Priam in power, but everyone is happy that Shu Mai is no longer the one in charge.

Taris: The Bureau of Ships and Services were happy to provide Priam and our other analysts with Perlemian Trade Route metadata confirming the smuggling operation from Neutral Space to CIS Foundry Worlds.

Corellia: For the first time in centuries, Green Jedi were reported traveling out of the sector, to participate in the defense of Almas Academy. Master Cerullian has publicly expressed interest in meeting with the other Jedi splinter sects to find common ground.

Bespin: Our surveillance of the Altisian Jedi enclave showed that several Altisian Jedi also participated in the Battle of Cularin. Master Cerullian's comments generated heated debate among the sect regarding their response. The consensus appears to be interest in meeting with other splinter sects, so long as the meeting takes place on neutral ground and the Corellian Jedi are not in charge.

Mustafar: Our surveillance of the Blackguard enclave has shown that several Blackguard Minions were studying at Almas Academy when the attack took place, and a number of Elite Wilders have been sent to keep track of whether the Jedi sects arrange a meeting and if they'd be willing to extend an invitation to the Blackguard.

So looks like Palp is planning on framing things so that CNS supplies are used in an upcoming attack in order to justify smearing us as secretly being allied with the Separatists thus allowing him to invade us.
