I think we don't have to worry about the grating part, we aren't sawing through the walls, our swords are super sharp and cut through them easily. Plus, the city is a tad bit filled with the sounds of war, swords hitting swords/armor/shields, people yelling, that kind of thing. It might attract attention within the block or two, but not within the whole town.

That sounds rather dangerous to me. They are goiug to have to carve those handholds while they are climbing, meaning only one hand at a time for stabilization.
It is a bit, I suppose, but it should be possible, depending slightly on the length of their swords. Especially if they aid each other. Hm, actually, maybe it would be better to just stab sword after sword into the wall and use them as steps in a floating staircase? Like this? Would we have enough swords of the right kind?

Nope.
Do we have planks? Because they could make a hole with a sword, put a plank in there, step up on the plank and make a new hole, put a plank in that, rinse and repeat. ...Make sure the bottom point of the holes are slightly angled down so the planks wont fall out easily. Voila, instant staircase. Won't work if we have their attention, but when they're busy like now, it should work.

Would have to be fairly thick planks, to not crack under our fully-armored weight. And it would be fairly time-consuming to build all that. A few hours atleast.

Things didn't turn out well at all. The Sword Channelers try to cut their way through the wall, but neglected to move out of the way before the first section of the wall fell. They were almost crushed, but the group guarding them managed to catch it, and, by working together and straining themselves, they allowed the Sword Channelers to get out of the way before they dropped it. Unfortunately, the section of the wall that fell was only halfway through, so they still didn't complete their intended purpose.
At the same time, a group of soldiers search for hidden entrances and scour the area around the city. They searched everywher and found nothing, they are absolutely certain that this is because there is nothing to be found.
A single, very balanced, very agile, and very flexible, Sword Channeler starts to cut handholds up the wall, but only makes it two thirds of the way up before getting tired and being forced to come back down. Commander Erica attempts to follow the soldier to get a better view, but falls down off the wall. Luckily, she wasn't very far up before she fell, so she is unharmed.

Depends on the length and quality, but usually 3-8 on a roll, depending. I might give a bigger bonus if it's really good. You can also do more then one and keep getting a bonus if you wish.
