Sword and Spell: A Warhammer fantasy general quest

But they don't matter if they're not within range. We're in the riverbed right now. I'd be surprised if they could fire on us. No reason not to take out all the slaves first and then advance on the camp together.

Edit: If they are within range, my last point applies anyway, so the matter is secured (Move as fast as possible when within range of 7, try to tie up enemy units with some of your own to get to 7 faster)

Edit2: and I hope the point (1/3 and 2 help 4 when 6 is dead and no other enemies are running towards you) is understood that 123 does not help 4 if they are under fire from 7
Even if we are not finished with 6 yet, when 7 somehow comes within reach, I hope Bragg ties up the remaining slaves with a unit and takes out 7 as quickly as possible

Though if we can collapse on 7 isn't their leadership a bigger priority? Would the gatlings not get some debuff if fighting in one big melee?

I don't know how it works quest-mechanically but ogres should be pretty big targets and skaven shouldn't care at all about friendly fire, 7 is also the best unit apart from the general, I would be most worried about the morale holding up and the unit dealing damage

Although I'm not sure when I read the rules now:
Generally, a unit cannot shoot into an enemy that is engaged in close combat with a friendly unit. There is however an exception to this. If the ranged unit is within 4'' of an enemy unit, and facing towards a side of that unit not in the melee combat, it can fire into the combat. Note however that this is still risky, as on a roll of 1 a hit is instead made against the friendly unit in combat.
But I'm pretty sure Skaven would shoot in any case, it's a meme how little friendly fire matters for them

Edit: I assume that they would position themselves to comply with the rules and then simply shoot into the crowd
and I think their damage potential is even higher than the hero unit general

-[X]2 make way southeast,on route to attack 7

Alrighty, I admit, I held out for probably far too long in the hopes of more votes and out of some discouragement, but there's not a point in delaying any longer. The quest will proceed with the winning plan, and well see how well your chosen strategy fares. Ill try to get the next part out as soon as I can.

Just found this quest but I have to ask, why not be smart about it? we don't really care about what's in the cave and we really can't afford to let the elites rally.
Plan
[X] Break the Damn Dam!!
-[X] with the man eaters
-[X] Get da Elites! groups 1 and 2 charge to the main camp engaging 7,8,9
-[X] Break da dam! group 3 charges the dam and breaks it, drowning 6 and then go to engage 5
-[X] Sneaky gits!! gnoblars (group 4) "engage" the slaves in 5 get them to go the bulls

This way we maximize our advantages, size and durability. The dam break kills group 6 and our ogres can get out of the way and engage group 5. With the most experienced and ourself getting to the heavy hitters before they have a chance to set up. Speed, size and strength, the ogre way.

Making my vote and it's time to break the damn! Like how the Ents broke the damn nearby Isengard!
