Strigian Woes: Back in Action Edition

Are you implying that attack wasn't enough to pierce Nicol's tough skin? Awesome.

By the way, is there any bonus affecting us this (ingame) week?

Good, but not enough. We should truly cover our missing and necessary skills (such as medicine, perception, stealth, etc.).

[X] Medicine - Surgery
[X] Perception - Objects
[X] Education - Nations

On the skin part, not neccessarily. The attack could've pierced your skin, but you were able to catch it right before it did. Kind of like how if you hover an object over a certain part of your body, you can still feel it, even though it isn't touching you.

As for a bonus, no not this week.

[X] Evasion: Dodging
[X] Invention: Necessity
[X] Education - Nations

[X] Melee Weaponry: Swords
[X] Speech: Persuasion
[X] Superhuman: Strength

Sword persuasion - best persuasion. Also, all most of these skills have bonuses.

He then turns to you, and allows his features to soften, "You need not worry, young lad. I, The Noble Knight Siegfried, shall protect you from this brute!" He then whips his head back around to face the Black Knight.

The Black Knight merely stares at the man, who is apparently called Siegfried, and says, "Seriously? Dude are you blind? This kid may not look like much, but he definitely ain't a civie."
He? Lad? But we are a girl.

Back when I asked what Image you guys wanted for the MC, I posted two and said that if one of them was chosen everyone who saw you would think you were a guy at first glance.

This seems to be the current winner, so unless someone else votes, I'll start writing the update later today.

In the meantime, which of these pictures do you guys think would be best for Trine?

Spoiled for size:

Note: If you pic 2 or 3, people will mistake you for a boy at first glance. If you guys have any suggestions that may be better, go ahead and post them.

Does learning Medicine - Surgery really make sense? If I don't misunderstand the rules, we will get only a bonus of 5 every time we train it, so we will need to train it four times to even get it to 0.

Wouldn't it be better to train Endurance or Evasion - Dodging, or maybe Magic - Flesh, if it can be used to heal?

[X] Education: Nations
[X] Speech: Diplomacy
[X] Evasion: Dodging

I know it doesn't have too much appeal right now, but IMO it is a must-have in any Sage-style Quest. Without it, Nic doesn't know shit of medicine, how the body works, how to heal herself... Right now, if she caught a cold she probably would drink molten iron if someone were to tell her that can cure her malady. Or stab herself in order to "kill" and cure the illness. :V

Well with Nevill switching that means the winning skills are:

[X] Education - Nations
[X] Perception - Objects
[X] Evasion: Dodging

I'll start writing soon.

Week 4.1
As the sun begins to shine over your homestead, your eyes gently flutter open. You yawn deeply, and try to push yourself up off the bed. Your muscles groan in protest, but you manage to at least get into a sitting position.

You begin to massage your aching body. That was some fight back there! Way more intense than what your mom used to throw at you! Then again, those guys were actual warriors.

You manage to force yourself to stand up, arching your back to work out all the kinks. The loud popping noises that accompany the movement send shivers of relief all through your body. As you continue to stretch the pain out of your body, something occurs to you.

'Hey', you think to yourself, 'I just survived my first real fight! Yes!'

You shout and jump up and down in triumph, before wincing and immediately stopping. You laugh, while grabbing your side, and start to walk downstairs. You think you'll be taking it easy today.

[X] Education: Nations: 0+10 = 10

As you walk into the study, you think back on yesterday's confrontation. You remember those men talking about the places where they were from. Tudor...and...Yamma...something or other. You don't know what either of those names mean or if they are referring to a what or a who. However, one thing is for certain:

They do not like each other.

But then comes the question: Why?

So, in order to get to the bottom of this, you look through the study trying to find some book that talks about the different places where humans live. It proves...rather difficult actually, and you find yourself about to give up in frustration.

Then, just when you start leaning against the bookshelves, a massive book crashes down on to the floor. Shocked, you look up at the top of the bookshelf. It must've fallen off when your weight unbalanced it!

You rush forward….and stop when you see a note written on the front of the book.

I figured you would need this.

I love you.

Mom.

Fighting back the tears in your eyes, you pick up the book and open up the first page.

….And then you do not start to break down in sobs as you see that the entire book was written in your mother's handwriting.

0-10:
If you're reading this honey, chances are that you have at least a hint of what is going on outside of our farm. Which means that it is only a matter of time before either it finds you, or you go looking for it. And since I probably won't be around long enough to help you with it, I figured I can at least give you the knowledge you will need to make the right choices.

If my memory serves there are currently three races in the world, the Mortals (Humans and Enhanced Humans), the Vampires and the Werewolves. Each of these races has three different factions that have split off from each other:

Mortals:

  • The Tudor Kingdom: A Human Kingdom based around knights, chivalry and magic. At war with the Yemamid.
  • The Yemamid Dynasty: A Human Shogunate based around technology, honor, and the Old Values. At war with the Tudor.
  • The Phoven Empire: A long dead Empire brought back through the use of magic as an Undead Legion. Currently gathering their strength.

Vampires:

  • The Nightlords: One of the oldest vampiric clans, and some of the most powerful. Doesn't very much care for the Horde.
  • The Blood's Horde: A clan of vampires, fixated on one thing and one thing only; killing humans. They care for not except battle. Hate the Nightlords.
  • The Moonlight Oblivion: Trust me sweetie, it's better if you know nothing about this faction.

Werewolves:

  • The Silent Cave Pack: The oldest werewolf pack. Makes their home in the mountains. Currently gathering strength.
  • The Lycan Woodland Pack: The werewolves who live closest to mankind. Make their homes in the woods. Currently gathering strength.
  • The Sentinel Canines: These are-

You can't quite make this part out, as it has all been covered in ink. Even so you read on.

As you can probably tell, none of the races really care for each other. The Vampires either want the world dead or enslaved, while the humans are too busy fighting each other to really make a difference. The Werewolves will only interfere, if the Vampires start to make a move. So as of right now, the world is in a kind of stalemate, I guess.

Things may have changed in the time since I was gone, so I don't know how accurate these writings are. But, I sincerely hope you find some use for them, deary.

Never forget that I love you. Now and forever.

[Info Gained on Nations! Will be added to Character Sheet!]

[X] Perception: Objects: 0+10 = 10

0-10: You do not wipe the tears from your eyes, and place the book on your "To Read" shelf. Even in death, she's still looking out for you. You stand, staring at the book a bit more, before you turn and start to walk towards your workshop.

Once there, you place a hammer down on the table, and stare intensely at it. When you first saw those two men, one of the things you took note of was their weapons. You've seen spears before, but that Siegfried guy's was definitely not a normal spear. For one thing it was red, and you don't know of any metals that are red.

Second it was…..well, red.

And you don't even have to start on the Black Knight's weapon. That thing may as well have come from another place altogether. Which...it probably did. But either way, it made you realize that you need to get better at telling when things look strange.

Plus, you really wanna find out what they stuff that blocked your progress in the mountain is.

So to start, you begin to look at your hammer.

….

Yep, it definitely is a hammer, but you never noticed those dents in the handle before. Confused, you pick it up, and find that the dents form a perfect grip for you hand. You then realize the dents probably came from all those times you were squeezing it when you were working on projects.

...Well, that's something you never saw before.
You now actually "look" at objects.

[X] Evasion: Dodging: 0+10 = 10

Satisfied, you make the trek outside, and call Lionbird down to you. The creature lands on the ground, kicking up dust that makes you cough slightly. The beast begins to eye you as you walk towards it, and tell it that you want it to try to hit you.

You then get sent sprawling along the ground when it swipes you with its paw.

You stand up and dust yourself off, "Not yet!" you say, and then you start to tell it your plan. Yesterday's fight made you realize something. You may be fast, but you only really know that when things are gonna hurt you that you can move out of the way.

But you don't know how to actually
dodge out of the way.

So, you want Lionbird to help you, by trying to hit you, while you try to dodge its strikes.

The creature looks at you for a second longer, and you're not entirely sure if you got through to it.

Then it squawks out something that you could swear was the word, "Dodge!" before smacking you with its paw again. This is gonna be a long night.
You now know how to actually dodge.

Weekend Start

Last time was fun. We should try it again.

[X] Call Kirean and hang out
I kind of wonder who his parents are since he is, you know, a Godchild. And he told them about us, too.

[X] Iron Walls
We're going to build the wall. We're going to let people in, but they're going to come in legally.

[X] Medicine - Surgery

The first one is because I'm curious about his parents and nothing else, I swear. Furry romance is abominable and should not be considered, unless he makes the effort to appear to be 100% human. Then that may be given a pass. The second is because I kinda wonder how is Nicol going to build said wall by herself without breaking everything. The third one I'm being stubborn, but I would like to see what's the flavor text for getting negative skills to 0, and also to prevent our heroine from decapitating herself when she has toothache.
