Strigian Woes: Back in Action Edition

...You do remember what Zhang accomplished, right? Even with the rushed ending, he was pretty fucking successful to me.
Indeed, but he never completed the final Strife. Nor made the Mecha Air Carrier. Or Maxed his 3 advanced magic skills. Or defeated an evil god. And so on. Still, it was good for what it is.

Ehh, it's not their fault that they literally can't survive without killing other living creatures. Besides, without carnivores like them, the herbivore population would spiral out of control. Then guess what happens?
Boom!
No more plants! Which means no more pretty flowers to look at with it's Summer!

Surprisingly thoughtful for someone who has likely an intelligence score of 4/10, more or less.

Watch out with spaces, you tend to forget these.

"Humans: The Traditions of an Entire Race!"

Smiling, you waste no time in cracking open the first page.
You now know that there are things that other humans "value".

Her mom truly did think about everything. Thanks the gods.

0 to 5: You close the book, satisfied with your progress, and place it behind the scrolls to (finally) place them in between two books instead of one book and the wall. You then grab the book "People, how do they work?" and open it up to Chapter 3: "Interest and You!" You now know what "interest" are!
Another missing space.

It's called "Di-plo-ma-cy". Apparently, it is basically the "art of dealing with people in an effective and sensitive way." It can be used to apparently… End a fight before it's started?!
You do a double take at that. If a fight's already started or going to start, why would you want to stop it!? Isn't fighting the best way to let your ideals and intentions be known to the person you plan to fight?!
The Shonen reasoning, or her lack of knowledge at work? I can't tell.

[] Mining Ho!: It's dawned on you that if you want to make your Cannon Blade (Name Pending) better, you're gonna need more materials than what you currently have. Hmmm, that mountain had iron in it. Maybe it has some other kind of minerals in it, too? If chosen, roll 1d100 to see what kind of minerals. Don't roll until I confirm the majority.

How is she planning to mine these minerals? With her bare hands? Also, would she be able to understand what she's looking for with Perception (Objects) 0?

But that's just 2 days instead of 5. Encounters are more amusing. Plus sweet EXP.

Weekends have better skill multipliers. Best to focus on these while we just started.

Thanks for the help with the spaces!

As for the Mining question, yes she plan to mine it with her bare hands. No it's not likely you'll know what you're looking for. However you do know that iron looks like a shiny rock. So just find shinier rocks!

The Diplomacy question, keep in mind that being an Enhanced Human means she was bred to be a fighter and most of her interest involve fighting. As such, finding out that fighting is not the best way to solve your problems is almost alien to her.

Week 3.2
[X] Spend Time with Lionbird

You jump up to the top of the stable, where your guest makes it's home. You see the creature laying down, its wings folded and head down on its paws.

Aww! It looks like a cute, sleeping, vicious wolf cub!

You don't want to wake it up, maybe you could try to get close to it without making any noise.

You raise up on your tip toes-

[Evasion: Stealth: 0 VS DC: 55: Fail]

-And before you can even take your first step, Lionbird opens up one of it's catlike eyes. You freeze mid-stride and lock eyes with the creature.

While you don't think the animal can talk, the gaze it's given you communicates more than words could. Namely the sentence, "Nice try, but no."

You awkwardly smile, and wave at Lionbird, as it begins to sit up. It keeps it's hind legs and tail on the ground while bringing up its powerful claws and bird like head.

Placing the soles of your feet on the ground, you begin to walk towards the Lionbird, scratching the back of your head in embarrassment.

"So, umm, hey, there, you…" you do your best to try to start up a kind of conversation. The creature stares at you, its eyes unamused. You bite your tongue. You have no idea what to say here.

[Motives: 10 + Feelings: 10 + Interest: 15 + Talking to an Animal: 10 + Diplomacy: 15 = 60 vs DC: 40: Success]
[+20 XP]

So, you decide to not beat around the bush.

"So hey listen, I was going to go out to that mountain later to see what kind of metal I can find by punching a hole in the side of it to see what I can find. But before I do that, I wanted to see if there's anything you wanted to do today. So, is there?"

The Lionbird seems to stare at you for a couple of seconds, then it stands up to its full height. By now, you're close enough that it could try to crush you with its claws, so the shadow that falls over you as it stands is a rather large one.

However, you stand your ground and wait for an answer. To be honest, you're not even sure you'll get one, but it never hurts to try. Besides, if you're going to improve your relationship, you're going to need to find out what the beast "interest" are.

You mean, besides eating things, and flying around places.

"So...is-" then you feel yourself get pushed back by the beast tail.

You stare at it angrily, "What was that for?" It just stares at you, but you can read the emotions in its eyes. It's a trick you picked up from all those days tending to animals.

But what you see slightly surprises you. Because, other than the strong sense of pride that is always evident in the creature's eyes, you can see something else.

Like, a small amount of….caring? You wouldn't call it love, you seen what that looks like, but you can tell that the creature at the very least acknowledges you as something other than a strong being.

The Lionbird screeches at you, and takes off into the air. You look up, and after a little it comes down and grabs your shoulders in its powerful talons. It takes to the sky with you in its grip, and you feel yourself smiling.

Looks like you got somewhere after all.

Sorry it's taking so long. Some IRL things have come up. Namely getting into College.

Here's the Lionbird part just to hold you over.

Week 3.3
[X] Mining H-INTERRUPT!

After Lionbird landed back on top of the stables, you jumped off the roof and prepared to go. The mountain you got that iron from is a fair distance to the east of your home. Thanks to your speed training you were able to get there in record time on foot, so you see no reason why not to just run there.

You crouch down on the ground, one leg placed firmly on the ground behind you, and the other bent at the knee. You place both your hands on the ground and count down.

3…you tense your muscles.

2…..you take a deep breath.

1…..G-

[Perception: Environment: 10 + Perception: People: 0 = 10 VS DC: 30: Fail]

-OOOOMMMPHHH!

Just as you're about to run off, you're tackled to the ground by something. How it got past your trap you have got no idea, but you can't exactly think about that as you're sent rolling through the cornfields with whatever just smashed into you.

You roll for sometime, until your momentum finally gives out, and your left splayed out on the ground with something that feels light as a feather to you sitting on top of you.

You sit up quickly, ready to fight whatever was able to get the drop on you...and look up to see a smiling furry face.

"Hi ya!" he, because it is clearly a boy based on his rather...open shirt, shouts to your face his voice laced with ecstatic glee, "Remember me?!"

You're about to say no, but then you look into his eyes. The left one is almost completely dark, but it is dotted with small blinking lights that go on and off constantly. The right one is bluer than any body of water you've ever seen, and you feel like you could get lost from just staring at it.

You blink once then you blurt out, "Kirean?!"

His ears prick up, and he gets this huge smile on his face before hugging you very tightly. "Yep! It's me!" Then he bounces off of you, does a triple-backflip in the air, and lands in with his chest puffed out and his right thumb pointing at himself, "Kirean, The God Child!"

A light wind blows by, bending the cornstalks like blades of grass. Kirean smiles at you and starts jumping place, "So?! What do you think, huh?! Was that an awesome entrance or what?!"

You stand up and dust yourself off. You look at Kirean as he bounces in front of you.

[Diplomacy: 15 + Empathy: 20 (Motives + Feelings) = 35 vs DC: 30: Pass]
[+10 XP]

You're about to tell Kirean that it was flashy and childish, but then you stop and remember what you read in those books about "feelings" and "talking to people." So, you take a breathe and actually look at Kirean for a second.

His tail, wagging so much that it is actually causing a small dust storm, is currently held pointing towards the ground so it can move with him as he jumps. His ears are up and moving from side to side, while his eyes are sparkling with a childlike happiness.

Then it hits you, 'Oh, he's just a puppy! At least a puppy for a Godchild anyway! He just wants some praise!'

You could still admonish him for doing this, as it's likely to annoy people who aren't you, but that might make him mad. You're not sure if you want to get on a Godchild (or his parent's) bad side.

Just as you're thinking about what to say, Kirean puts on a sudden burst of speed and puts his face so close to yours that your noses are touching.

"Well!?" he squeaks out, "What do you think?!"

[] Praise him. And pet his head for good measure.
[] Be indifferent. Tell him it was ok, but that is could still use some work.
[] Admonish him. Tell him that a Godchild shouldn't act like that and hit him on the nose.

Surprise!

Oh yeah, and someone roll me 1d100 for your mining roll. I'll write that up after this vote.

Needs to be more bombastic.

Oh fuck, a furry! Quickly, stand still and pretend to not to see him! Perhaps he'll go away on its own... Nah, nevermind. It's not going to leave anytime soon, now that he noticed us. Anyway:

[X] Be indifferent. Tell him it was ok, but that is could still use some work.

Our character is going to be alone for some time, so it won't matter much if Kir has such dynamic entrances. Also, he needs to learn about personal spaces.

H-INTERUPT? is that what i think it is?

EDIT: [X] Praise him. And pet his head for good measure, though if he does it again its gonna be more of a punch

Sorry I've been kind of inactive guys, I've been at Freshman Orientation since yesterday. Heck, I'm writing this from one of my college's computers! But I'll be getting home soon and working on the next part in a jiffy!

That's truly dedication. Let's hope befriending a furry god-kid thing is not going to backfire anytime soon. Hopefully he doesn't have a romance path.
