Sicily was for a time ancient Greece's America guys. We will have high fertility lands, timber, extensive salt works (still in use in today's Trapani) and access to good tuna fishing areas.

The locals are dangerous, but divided and the Cyclops should be far away enough, close to the other side of the island. [Edit: on further reading Polyphemus could actually live close to Drepanon, but he is easily outwitted, right?]
Potentially close to the Lestrigones and Lotus flower (potential for trading it as an opium equivalent?) eating people if we are going with the Odyssey's Mediterranean.

In terms of historical enemies, we will have to be on our watch against Phoenicians (later Carthagineans) and Greeks from the other Megale Hellas colonies, but the Thyrrenoi (Etruscans) should not range in force so far south.

Yeah, I expect this to be significantly harder than ASWAH.
Indeed, the main risk I foresee for this quest is being forced into a deeply reactive position that we can only leave by outsmarting Azel.

> Implying that we're Gods.

And of course there are groups to be raging douchebags to. They're called "under-militarized foreigners".
I'm suddenly getting Tales of History flashbacks...

Rest assured that not everyone around you will be hyper-competent schemers and strategists.

Are there groups that we can be raging douchebags to? We need victims of our own.
Then vote for me, because the options I chose are going to let us build up our defenses, gives us a sizeable population, and the largest starting military. We'll probably need to prey on the people of surrounding lands just to survive.

Ah. I just realized something horrible for you people on ASwaH quest out there.
Azel is gone now.

Which means he's morally free to help DP out in leading devils, demons, daemons, efreet, illithids, Fey, Ymeri, Tiamat, Others, and god knows what else.
Probably lannisters, he can make even them into a credible threat.

Have fun.
:o

Which is clearly inferior to my masterplan, as with mine, we can have bloodthirsty water spirits drown our enemies before they get to our shores.

And if they ever overcome those and our navy, we can then have bloodthirsty land spirits murderfuck our foes.

*peeks at tally*

Looks like Hyphyria has a good lead, with Drepane and Hyboria in pursuit.
Adhoc vote count started by Azel on Nov 24, 2018 at 7:08 PM, finished with 60 posts and 21 votes.

I will innocently note that this really ought to be by plan voting, y'know :V

Otherwise we could end up with combinations like Orchomenos and Drepane.

[X] [Journey] As an exile from your home, thrown upon this shores by fate. (Exile Start, see locations for details)

Nice to get in on the ground floor. If that is the plan name do we need to name our leader Recette?

You are going to feel the drawbacks of Orchomenos pretty much everywhere you can go. The same holds true for all other starting cities.

Combining it with Drepane won't be worse then any other possible parent city.

*glances at Poseidon, Zeus, the Satyrs, the Nymphs and the rest of the bunch*

I have the feeling something like this might occasionally happen...
Alright, so we'll be getting spontaneous heroes to deal with. I wonder if we can get any godly artifacts from time to time.

ALERT

Worst case confirmed. The hyper-competent enemies will have pasties and pawns!
Damn, I'd been hoping that we'd have a situation like in ASWAH where the various enemy factions mostly gridlock each other.

Alright, so we'll be getting spontaneous heroes to deal with. I wonder if we can get any godly artifacts from time to time.
Theoretically, yes. In practice? I'm betting that it never actually happens, or that when it does it comes with a huge catch. Such as the first great rule of Greek mythology: "everyone is a dick"
