Strange Tides

[X] As many as they will sell (Cost 4 wealth. The flocks will begin producing in the fall)
[X] [Construction] Woodcutting Camps
[X] [Military] Try to explore some more. (Pick up to 2 options. Can double down on one option.)
-[X] The mountains to the east.
-[X] The northern forests.
[X] Isidoros
-[X] Try to organize the artisans. They are currently spread all over the city instead of being clustered around the palace as it is proper.
[X] Argurios
-[X] Learn the tongue of the local folk. Though not the most skillful or diligent pupil, Argurios is sure to get the most use from it, but Isidoros would be swifter in study

The path lead them to a clearing near a small lake where a handful of strange houses of sticks wattle and daub lay perched like pelicans upon the shore behind the protection of a low earthen wall. They might count fifty men women and children in all but no more.

"Makes you thankful of the boat houses, eh?" one of the other men spoke up, peering through the bushes at the strange sight.
Huh, those are Terramare houses acording to google. Wich means we probably are in the Po Valley in northen Italy.

[X] Duesal

I got flashbacks to Azel's last quest when I read about the bones, hah.

Anyway...

*Massages head while staring at Mountains*: Let there be tin, let there be tin, let there be tin...

We might have to research the geology of the early Roman Kingdom and Co, see if they found any deposits in the area.

Edit: Didn't find anything major. The biggest deposits seemed to be around southern Spain, which is doable but definitively a mid-game concern unless Hephaestus furnishes us a cargo airship or something (if we want to conquer it, that is. Trading for it should be vastly easier). The other big one was in southern Britain, with several others in central Germany (from which the Greeks get most of their tin, forming a thriving trade route). Still, metalworking is kind of Hephaestus thing, he might be able to help out with our resource woes with some mid-tier worship. Whether that might make our craftsmen more efficient, or perhaps even spawn ore deposits in certain locales, will likely remain a matter of speculation until we reform the cults and the whole gods and favor mechanics become clearer.

Metagaming?
Filthy cheat!

Seriously though, let's not do that.

Honestly hadn't considered it like that. The nice thing about Quests set in a known world (whether from myth, real life, or fanfic) is that you can speculate and plan stuff without waiting for huge info dumps by the QM which might still not amount to much... And anyway, its not like this info would deter us from taking every single option. We're still going to explore the mountains for example, there might be other ores or valuable stuff in there.

We are in an alternate universe, however. Anytime we rely on real world OOC info ... you should know Azel by now.

Well, we are patroned by Hephaestus, and we know metal is a thing. Could we possibly do a grand sacrifice to him and try to discover another metal?

Big question - when? Because ore alone doesn't help, you must be able to process it. We don't have yet the means to do so, right? Also, what to sacrifice? At the moment we don't have surplus, and after buying the sheep not much of wealth left. And human sacrifice is tricky, you need the god to be in a mood he appreciates it and have to be in a position where you can survive it socially.
Edit - of course, if the leader sacrifices himself, that's another issue.

If we are looking to mine our land Hades is the god we should make offerings to.

I'm agree. Dedicate a temple to Hades could be a could synargy with Hephaistos. And he also one of the less assholes gods with humanity.

If we could discover the iron working and developp it it could be very useful too. Bronze was better for a long period of time but to be made you need many materials who aren't often in the same place. Iron is more easy to find and to work.

And that's for starters. Mythical metals shouldn't be out of the question too, like Adamant. Stuff of higher caliber like that will also likely be needed for the inner workings of all sorts of Automatons.

We really, really need to find a way to trade with the dwarves to the far north.

I dearly want that mithral. :o

There's also Orichalcum in Atlantis to the far west. Is Atlantis already sunken?

Well, this vote has sure been a contentious one.

Vote closed. Update probably in the morning.

[X] [Isidoros] You need a proper court. As it is, you need to do everything yourself and beside the day being hardly long enough to do so, it means you have no one to delegate tasks to that you are less suited for. Try to find some promising men to aid you.
