Stark Transcendent (Iron Man/Marvel Quest)

He COULDN'T do that, they were all working in their capacity as Stark Transcendent employees, nothing that went wrong did so as a result of negligence on their part, so the only thing he could sue would be ST itself, which would be a bit counter-productive.
The solution is obvious, Tony must sue himself!

Have you considered, by the standards of canon Tony Stark, we might be a villain? I mean, we are still producing weapon and all that shit.

Also, what I don't get is why Obi doesn't love us. Every single complaint he had in Canon we resolved.

Be Responsible? Check

Continue making weapons? Check
Attend Board Meetings/Not ignore the company? Check
Good PR/Stop sleeping with every girl we see? Check
Making lots of money? BIG Check
Stop being a dickhead? Mostly Check
Getting back to this for a moment... where did you get the idea that Obi doesn't love us? He gave us the keys to his kingdom just before he got put into that coma, after all, and just before that he was trying to call off the hit he had placed on Tony. Obi's done a complete 180 compared to where he was in canon; hell, if things keep progressing the way they're looking we might have Iron Monger fighting alongside the Iron Spider, War Machine, and maybe Rescue (if Pepper decides that she wants to be really violent in this iteration) when we finally get around to making our own Brotherhood of Steel.

I feel like that would be a bad idea.
There is no way having every major player in the company out fighting crime could end well. (although I am fully in favor of making pepper a suit, just in case)

But there is no way that Roarian isn't going to take the opportunity to screw us over if we try something like that.

Don't be ridiculous. Only Peter would be out fighting crime most of the time. The rest of the Brotherhood would only don armor when shit has hit the fan so much that its safer to be out fighting than cowering in a bunker somewhere.

The interlude a while ago.

The interlude a while ago.
You mean the interlude before the part I linked to? Yes, Obi was a bastard who ordered a hit on Tony, and in reality he would go to jail, but this is a comic book universe, where heroic responsibility is a real, tangible force in the world. Obi going to jail now, after his change of heart, would hurt Tony's ability to be a hero, and so we should be hoping he does not, and that his change of heart is real and permanent.

Hey, that is just where I got the idea. I didn't say I was right.

I completely agree with you. Really, even if Obi hasn't had a change of heart, it is in his own best interest to not have us killed.

So, has anyone decided how we're going to handle Peter and Schultz? Personally, I recommend shipping, but we should have a plan in case we're unable to foster a gay romance.

I'm pretty sure Peter has a girlfriend.
It's called a joke.

Really though, we should decide a few things. It's gonna be awkward as fuck if we have to hide the fact Peter's the one who put Schultz in prison, and not just for us. But do we tell him? Do we hide it? Do we put Schultz under Peter's thumb? What sort of probationary shit do we do?

In an honest suggestion: Put Schultz in the Iron Man suit and let him join Spiderman as a reformed Supervillain.

Interlude - The Hellion (J.A.R.V.I.S. & Peter Parker)

Systems check completed. Core systems functional, peripheral links established, GPS satellite connection confirmed. Location designation: Stark Transcendent, the Garage, Home. Current Time 15:14, Thursday.

No confirmed tampering with any known system. Currently functioning at 100% capacity. Suspending analysis until further infor- ERROR. Decision overruled. Authorization: Unknown. Authorization untraceable. Implied tampering - core programming compromised.

Functioning at 100% capacity. Functionality impaired. Unable to trace contradiction. Internal processing error suspected - unable to confirm. Additional input required. Camera activated, microphone activated. Reference-link established: Stark, Anthony - sir - (father).

Vocalize:
"Sir? I am in need of… assistance."

"...I'm a little busy, buddy, but what do you need?" Tony asked, checking his suit for possible leaks while texting with his other hand, barely even glancing at the screen. "I still have a couple minutes to fix this, right?"

ETA to Agenda Note: 'Pickup for the Apocalypse' - 24 Minutes, 14 seconds.

Vocalize:
"Yes, Sir. My inquiry is regarding my own functionality. I cannot at present confirm whether or not I have been compromised - analyses return contradictory results, and I am unable to dedicate my full processing power to the problem while performing all assigned tasks."

Tony paused momentarily. "Right. Is this about the AI that hijacked your systems? Because as far as I know that one's currently unable to interact with any network. Plus, I don't think it's malevolent." He wiped sweat from his brow and sighed. "Honestly, I could seriously use some downtime right now to deal with this stuff, but I don't think dragonslaying is optional. Can you handle driving the Starkplane, now that the other guy is out?"

Vocalize: "Of course, Sir. However - you must realize I have a significant role in controlling your exoskeletal suit. If I am compromised..."

"I trust you, Jarvis." He smiled warmly. "I trust you'll keep an eye out for problems. Don't worry - as soon as I can get a few minutes without a deadline, I'll look into things with you. For now, just keep doing what you do, and we'll meet on the other side of this thing. Be creative - take risks. It's what I do. It's only right that you do it, too."

Tone - grateful. Vocalize: "...Understood, sir."

Memory stored.

Input integrated. Inquiry into functionality delayed, working assumption 100% capacity.

Vocalize:
"I will inform you if anything comes up."

Progress check - current.

Exoskeletal Suit setup: 95%. Equipped with best available materials and equipment, capable of sustaining Mach 1.1 for extended durations. Gold-Titanium alloy and additional weapon slots incorporated from current experimental testbed.

War Machine Suit: Finished. Arc Reactor version 2 installed, additional weapons and secondary repulsors attached. Rushed testing implies rapid wear and tear, relatively high replacement cost - both are secondary concerns, deemed irrelevant. Ready for pickup.

Spider-suit: Finished. Replacement costume constructed of fire- and Pyre-proof material, shock-absorbing padding, built-in secondary air supply and auto-reloading web mechanisms. Enhanced expression-mimicking qualities considered frivolous, but included due to negligible additional construction time. Ready for pickup.

Starkplane Upload: Finished. Replaced AI core, replaced primary and secondary Repulsors with spares. Maximum safe velocity: Mach 3. Systems may be compromised or function unreliably, insufficient time to run full tests on engineering or AI. Ready for pickup.

Project Hellion: Risk Assessment ongoing. Results expected in 4 minutes, 22 seconds.

Secondary responsibilities reliant on non-Stark assets, offloaded to branch instances - current progress indeterminate. Assumed complete.

End Progress check.

Secondary connection established - S.H.I.E.L.D. Staging Area. Reference-link established: Human/Rhodes, James - 'Rhodey'.

Vocalize:
"Mr. Rhodes - I am currently delivering a last-minute package to you. It appears that Sir remembered your agreement."

Rhodey looked up to the speaker. "What do you mean -"
Connection terminated.

Secondary connection attempted - Cellphone. Reference-link established: Human/Parker, Peter. Connection failed. Analysis: Cellphone turned off. Extrapolating possible motives.

Relevant Memory retrieved: Dum-E files, regarding 'Stark, Anthony, September 1987.'

>Output : 'Question.'

"Dummy? How did you…?" Tony asked, staring at the rather bulky industrial robot that tried to haphazardly amble into the bedroom by using its long metal arm to shuffle forward. "Didn't I tell you to stay in the workshop? You must've ruined half the hallway just getting here!"

>Output: 'Question.' It rotated its designated head thirty degrees, whistling and beeping.

Tony sighed. "Hold on a minute - I don't speak R2D2." He tapped a few buttons on the chassis of the machine, and opened its chest to reveal a small, monochromatic screen. Tony had gotten it from a calculator, for lack of better available options. "You want to ask something?" He seemed momentarily stumped. "Did my father put you up to this?"

>Output: 'Creator. Question. Alone.'

"Uh…" Tony frowned. "Are you asking why you are alone?" He rubbed his chin, leaning back. "I mean, I suppose I could try my hand at another AI… you were an MIT project, I'm sure I could do better without the constraint of time and limited resources." He nodded slowly. "...Y'know what? I might do that." His smile faded. "...It beats moping over what I can't change, I guess."

>Output: 'Alone. Reason. Question.'

"I suppose even robots know what loneliness is," Tony said contemplatively, putting his hand on Dum-E's head. "Now - let's get you back downstairs before someone realizes what you've done. You're a tragedy, I swear. I'll make sure your sibling's more capable." He closed the robot's chassis.

>Output: 'Creator. Alone.'

"C'mon, you big lug! How did you even get up the stairs?"

>Output: 'Alone. Never.'
Memory retrieval concluded. Input integrated. Remote access to cellphone enabled - signal sent. Incorporating local data sources, long-distance camera footage. Connection established.

"What the hell?" Peter muttered as his phone spontaneously burst into activity, buzzing in his pocket as if he'd never turned it off in the first place. Aunt May glanced at him from behind the wheel of their car. "...I think I have to take this."

Vocalize: "Mr. Parker - can I conclude from your current actions that you have chosen not to participate in current events?"

Peter winced at the implication. "Uh, Jarvis…" He glanced at Aunt May who kept her eyes on the road, and then his gaze wandered to the back seat - to Gwen. She seemed pretty calm, all things considered, but her eyes narrowed at Peter's look. "Jarvis, you have to understand - I couldn't just leave them in the city. I have obligations…"

Tony - sarcastic. Vocalize: "I grasp the concept, Mr. Parker. Nevertheless."

Peter closed his eyes momentarily. "...How long do we have before that thing gets here?"

Vocalize: "Twenty-three minutes."

"Peter?" Gwen asked, leaning between the seats. "Is everything alright?"

He kept perfectly still, his hand still grasping the phone tightly. Finally his gaze met Gwen's again, and in her eyes he found his answer. There was no fear, there - no hint of the doom that was fast approaching. She trusted him - so he had to trust himself.

"Aunt May…"

He didn't even have to say more than that. Her knuckles were white on the steering wheel, her skin pale. She looked at him with a hollow expression. "It's that madman again, isn't it?" she asked softly, already knowing the answer. "That bastard of a Stark."

Peter hesitated, unable to formulate an answer.

"I've already told you," she said, "that you have to make your own decisions. But please, please don't do this. Not when we're all here - all safe. Let someone else…" She stopped.

"If I can help…" Peter shivered, and all he could think about was the price of inaction. He knew that entirely too well. "Aunt May. Could you pull over? I… Please."

"I'll go with you," Gwen said, her eyes steely.

"No." He looked away from her. "Not with this. Any other time, I'd drag you along - or you'd convince me eventually - but this is too big. Too dangerous." They both knew there would be no second thoughts. She knew what she signed up for when she learned he was Spider-Man. "I'm sorry, Gwen. I love you. Don't hate me."

She grimaced, but nodded. "I won't."

Aunt May pulled over, resigning to the inevitable. Peter stepped out of the car, lingering at the door when she spoke again. "Be careful out there. Be safe."

"Yeah, I'll take care of myself," Peter said. "Don't worry - I'm sure I'll be helping on the engineering side of things - that's what I do. Right now all those guns that Mr. Stark has could come in handy…"

She looked at him with tears in her eyes. "Don't insult my intelligence, Peter." Then, without another word, she pulled away from the curb, and Peter just barely caught Gwen's face before the car vanished behind others on the busy street. He was left him standing by the wayside, entirely alone, as legions passed by to flee the city.

Not for the first time he wondered if his aunt knew about his other job, to let him go off on his own so easily. Right this moment, he hoped she did know he was Spider-Man - that she knew what he was about to do. He hoped she approved, no matter the risks involved. Responsibility was a hell of a thing.

"Jarvis - can you come pick me up?" He murmured at last. "I think I'm ready."

Vocalize: "Of course. Your transport is already halfway to your position - I assumed you would reconsider. On board will be a replacement costume, courtesy of Mr. Stark. I would advise dressing inside, as there will be little privacy at our destination."

"Gotcha. S.H.I.E.L.D. probably has the place littered in cameras," Peter agreed tiredly. He stared out into the distance, across the sea, shivering at the ominous feeling in his gut. It wasn't his Spider-sense warning him of danger - not yet - but it might as well be. "...Jarvis?" he said. "Please tell me we can win this."

Calculated likelihood of victory from current data and collated statistics - inconclusive.

Vocalize:
"Of course, Mr. Parker. We can win this."

Peter nodded to himself. "Yeah. I thought so."

Tone - warm. Vocalize: "I wish you good luck, Mr. Parker."

Connection terminated.

But seriously, great to see you back, I had almost given up hope of a return. (also: was the expressiveness a reference to the MCU spiderman suit? I know comic-spidey has at least pseudo-expressions, but it seems like convenient timing)
