Another thing, if you wondering about it, I have changed the Abyss Rose's name to Rose of War. It is a much less awkward name, in my opinion.

Hopefully this will help give everyone an idea of what we face

Edit:
@dnzrx for the damage rolls you might want to divide by 20 as by 10 can give a very big swing in damage.

...Well, I hope Victoria find us weak spots to target, else that is gonna take a while to take the bigger ships down. And allowing them more rolls is not in the favor of our greener members.

Thankfully, venomian-made ships mean weak spots are likely.

Well the torps on the Cutlass and the bombers will do a number against cap ships. Also those battleships have a range of short. On the flip side the turrets on those frigates... ouch, maybe if we got the first shot of with a charged laser shoot from Hannah or Fox. By the way in addition to needing kills Hannah needs to kill at least one of the frigates to move past hardened. Also keeping ours and the carriers orbital gunboat and Bubbles in the Cloud Hawk back for CAP should be able to deal with small amounts of bombers.

I do want some drones along to try and distract those guns on their frigates when we move to destroy them. Firing priority, the Destroyers and Great Fox hit that carrier at Long range and try to keep their distance from the Battleships. Hopefully they can take out the carrier then focus on one battleship after the other.

Two orbital gunships, the cloud hawk, 8 of our drones and maybe some of our allies drones stay back to cover the cap ships from the bomber drones and fighter bombers. Their corvette would be good to target drone squadrons with its missles while Fox's squad clears out enemy fighters starting with their corvettes and orbital gunships. Avoid the frigates as those are fighter killers. If we clear their fighter cover it may be worth it to have the destroyers and Great Fox target the frigates, take those out and the fighter bombers and bomber drones can make attack runs on those battleships and ruin their day.

Well, hopefully, the fact that there's a carrier on our side force the pirate carrier to face it instead of us. Sure, more kills mean more money for us, but still.

Also, anyone else voting?

As a reminder, the combat mechanics are still undergoing testing and refinement, so do not feel too bad if you do not understand now.

Oh fine, if I must. I don't really understand the combat, to be honest, and am participating in a lot of quests that eat time- especially my own, which I don't want dying.
Fair enough. I can deal with number-crunching, but I know it's not the case of all.

On another note, looking at stats, I'm -really- glad the pirates don't have destroyers on their side. Those torpedoes are nasty.

I think damage rolls should be divided by 20 or 25 as right now on average hits will do 5 more damage and up to 10 more than their damage rating.
I can also somewhat agree to this. Sure, it penalizes fighters (thus us) and drone swarms more than the bigger ships who have higher base damage to wreck us. On another hand, high rolls means that in theory, one Arwing alone could destroy a Frigate with its two attacks in one round. As awesome as it may be, our Arwings's lasers are not this efficient.

Actually, if we are drawing directly from the various games, rather than assuming that the Star Fox titles exaggerated the player's effectiveness because it made the game more fun, a high grade pilot should be able to wipe out a frigate rather quickly. My mind keeps leaping back to Area 6 from StarFox64. The zone featured an outrageous number of ships of various sizes. With effort, most of them could even be knocked out of action in a single firing pass. It was an exceedingly violent firing pass, and involved mashing the fire button faster than seemed possible, but it could be done. Barely.

Right, votes are closed but I will be quite busy this week, including today. Therefore do not expect a new post until afterwards.

"Right, here is the deployment plan: Maxine, Nichole, and Hannah will be joining me in Arwings and we all will be in a squad together. Each of the Arwings will be loaded with a single Nova Bomb each. Our job is to fly around and destroy any small craft that we find. Priority will be given to any squad that can actually do serious damage to the larger ships or the outpost. Use charged lasers as many times as you want. Permission to use the Novas will be given only for squads that are deemed threatening enough to warrant their use. Myself and Hannah will be pointing them out.

Lelina and Rover will be primarily guarding the Great Fox against any attack from primarily small craft. Lelina will take one of the Cloud Hawks and it will be loaded with a Nova Bomb in case things gets very dicey. Rover will take the gunboat. The priority targets will be similar: target the small-craft that can do serious damage to the Great Fox first, like bombers. Defend our allies if you have the opportunity, but your first and foremost task is to defend Great Fox."

The named pilots nodded or saluted you. They acknowledge your commands.

"ROB, start to bring the fighter drones online. Group them into two groups of eight, but do not launch them yet. I do not want them to get shredded apart out there too quickly. Wait until my signal before launching them."

"Affirmative, Fox," ROB responded.

"Victoria, you will be in the labs. Be prepared to give support whenever it is needed."

Victoria nodded. "I'll do my best in any rate."

"Any questions before we launch?"

Lelina raise her hand and you acknowledge her.

"Yes, I was wondering about those battleships and carrier out there? How are we going to take care of them since I think we are a bit out-gunned as it is, even with you, Fox, and the Arwings..."

"I think you would not need to worry that much about that," Greyhouse said. "I spoke with the captains of the other three ships and they told me that they'll try to take care of the big ships. Of course, feel free to help them out whenever necessary."

"Thank you. Any other questions?"

There was a break in the discussion, signalling that no one else have any questions.

"If no one else have anything else to say, then let's get into gear!"

...

Ten minutes later, you found yourself inside your trusty Arwing with your other teammates flanking you with their Arwings. The deployment went smoothly and the relief fleet found itself just outside the battlezone. You can see the powerful enemy from where you were. It seemed that things have not gotten better since ten minutes ago. The outpost looks badly damaged and the garrison fleet's not in good shape. At the rate they were gong before, they would not last another day.

Thankfully, that is about to change. Around you, you can see the others getting ready for combat. The two destroyers are almost done bringing their torpedo launchers online and the escort carrier has already deployed several bomber-wings and its corvette to bring down a hammer onto the capital ships.

"Yo, Fox!" one of the fighter-bomber pilots from the Atlas' Sling call out to you. "Captain wants to know if you have something special in mind that we need to destroy first? We can figure it out ourselves if you do not have anything special, but since you are here, maybe you have a good plan?"

You briefly considered those words as you start to think up of your opening actions.

...No one after this long then? Fine then.

[X] Answer: The carrier has to go. It cannot be allowed to empty its full load in this fight.

[X] Squad 1: As planned, start clearing the way for allied bombing runs and your own drones. That means small crafts and frigates. Bombers squads have an interception priority however.
[X] Squad 2: Defense, mop up what get past you heading for the Great Fox or close allies.
[X] Great Fox: Assist in taking out capital ships, starting with the carrier. For now, Power to weapons.
-[X] If enough fighters are out, launch the drone squads.

Given nothing's heading our way right now, nothign can fire at it and we have a bomb for defense if a squad slip by, there's no reason to not have the GReat Fox focus on attack right now.
