Welcome to the quest... and the forum!

Thanks! Nice to be here.

Oh, there will be plenty of stories and plots done by the time the quest end. Plenty enough to keep Star Fox afloat... Rincewind Curse?

Long story short, a Discworld character whose whole life can basically be summed up by "Luck and Fate's favorite play thing."
Hence, The Rincewind Curse for 'interesting' things in our future.

Quest status has been updated, along with the inventory of the Great Fox and the character sheets. In the character sheets are the character's salaries and what are their crew member bonuses...

Kind of curious about something, is it possible for generic pilots to graduate to full blown characters?

In time, if the generic pilots did survive enough battles or achieved enough highly worthy deeds, then they would maybe be promoted to named pilot, although it would be quite the effort on their part.

I will make their profiles when the time comes, although if people want to make their profiles, then they are more than welcome to.

Capricorn 12-13th, 5 ALW: First Weekend
You spent quite a bit of the night on the computer, taking care of things that, as Star Fox's leader, only you could do. After making all the purchases, hiring, and other business, it was getting late and you need the sleep. So you climbed into bed and slept the night away…

…..

[x] Put on Market
-[x] Venomian Invader Mk 1 (?)

The very first thing that you have done, as soon as you got up the next morning, was to check on the status of the Invader that you have put up for sale…

Despite being an obsolete fighter that no one wants to fly in, much less fly one in battle, it seemed that there was someone that does want the Invader after all, even though, as you suspected, the buyer mentioned that he wanted to take apart the fighter and use its parts for something else…

(The potential buyer wants to buy the Venomian Invader Mk. 1 for 600 LD.)
[] Accept or decline?

As soon as you are done with checking up on your selling business, you stepped into the Great Fox's dining room to have breakfast. There you encountered Maxine and Nichole eating breakfast: cold cereal with milk.

"Good morning, Fox," Maxine said as you walked into the room. "I hope you slept well."

"I did," you replied. Then you smelled the air. "Is something burning?"

Before either of the two could respond, the kitchen door suddenly opened up as Hannah stepped out of it, her flight suit covered in some sort of batter.

You looked at Hannah, and then you looked back at Maxine and Nichole, and then back to Hannah, waiting for an explanation.

"Oh, good morning Fox," she said in a embarrassed tone. "You might not want to go into the kitchen at this moment. You see, there is a little bit of an incident with the stove and the berry pancakes I was trying to make was a little burnt, so…"

You signed. "ROB," you called out to your robot buddy, who was standing nearby. "Can you come down here and help clean up the mess? We have some more recruits coming in today and I do not want to make a bad first impression."

"Affirmative," ROB replied as he went off to clean the kitchen…

You then turned to Hannah. "Hannah, clean yourself up and have some breakfast afterward."

Hannah quietly bowed and ran off to her cabin, presumably to change into a fresh flight suit...

"Wait," Maxine said suddenly. "We are getting more people on board? I understand we would need more people to operate the ships and fighters we have right now, but can we afford it?"

"I understand your concern, Maxine," you replied. "But I think such things are for me to decide. And I think we are perfectly fine at the moment."

Maxine sighed. "Of course."

And with that, the breakfast resumed…

After breakfast, you had everyone else in your team assembled outside to meet the new hires...

[x]Buy
-[x] Cloud Hawk x3 (2100)
-[x] Great fox: Basic science lab (2000)

But not before showing them the new assets that you have acquired. The Cloud Hawk fighters were delivered to the hanger, impressing everyone, especially Hannah.

"My, you sure have great tastes in fighters, Fox. And I was surprised that you managed to get them so cheaply as well! I wonder what happened that caused the dealer to sell them for that little. Maybe they were stolen from a rival starship dealer somewhere, or maybe the seller is just that crazy. Oh well, his loss, not ours."

(3 Cloud Hawk Advanced Warfare Fighters gained)

Meanwhile, a work crew arrived and delivered and installed inside one of the rooms within the Great Fox equipment and other required renovations to turn the room into a modest science lab. The crew would need all day to complete their work, however.

(New Basic Science Lab installed)

You told Victoria that she will be working in the lab from now until the foreseeable future. Victoria looked relieved when she heard about this. You can tell that she is relieved that she does not have to fight within a fighter that she is barely trained to handle and that she'll be working a secure lab instead, even if said lab will be in a battle at least one per week...

[X] Hire
-[x] Lelina Bubbles (75/50w)
-[x] 3 generic trooper. (90/90w) (MALE)

As the work crews entered the Great Fox to start their work, the elevator door to the hanger opened up again, revealing a grey vixen with black hair, a pure white wetsuit, and black boots. She was carrying a large suitcase with a label on it indicating to anyone handling the suitcase to handle it with care. You recognized her as the new pilot you have hired: the unemployed Zonessian Diver known as Lelina Bubbles. And it seemed that she knows your face as well.

"Mr. McCloud?" the vixen spoke. "I have received your offer of employment last night. I am grateful to have received your offer and accepted it. My name is Lelina Bubbles and I hope I will serve you well."

"It is nice to have you aboard. Welcome to Star Fox," you replied. You then introduced her to the rest of the team and the rest of the team to her…

(Lelina Bubbles hired.)

As you finished up with the introductions, the door to the hanger's elevator opened up again and three tough looking and intimidating Cornerian Canine soldiers walked in. They are all wearing the uniform of a local freelance trooper-hiring company, carried with them impressive looking Blaster guns, and they are all male, like you have requested. That should keep the local tabloids off your back for a while...

One of them stepped forward and saluted you.

"Sir! We are the requested troopers from the Cornerian Independent Troopers Agency! We are proud to serve you sir!"

You saluted them back. "At ease, men. You are expected here today. Welcome to Star Fox…"

(Generic Troopers Baker, Hills, and Kevin hired.)

After another round of introductions, you have them all dismissed back into their rooms aboard the Great Fox as you quickly processed the payments for the new hires, the Cloud Hawks, and the lab equipment installation and parts…

(7680 LD - 75 (Lelina's hiring fee) - 90*3 (Generic Troopers' hiring fee) - 2100 (Cloud Hawks) - 2000 (Basic Science Lab) = 3235)

As soon as that was done, you wonder what kind of weekend activity you should do with your whole crew, if only for helping them get settled with their new jobs and occupations…

It is Capricorn 13th, 5 ALW. You currently have 3235 LD in your account.

[] Free Activity Day:
Since it is a weekend, why not give everyone a little break day and allow them to do whatever they want, including going to places within the vicinity of the spaceport where the Great Fox is stationed. It might also give you an opportunity to socialize with one of your hired crew-mates to get to know her better...
Cost: Free
Reward: ???
-Also select one crew-mate to socialize with if desired:
[] Maxine Cheetah
[] Nichole Cathy
[] "Harmful Hands" Hannah Jackson
[] Victoria Quincy
[] Lelina Bubbles

[] Pizza Party Picnic in the Park!:
There is a nearby park within the vicinity of the spaceport and there is also a pizza shop nearby. Why not we combine the two ideas into one by buying a few pizza pies and other food and bringing them into the park for an imprompt picnic?
Cost: 50 LD
Reward: ???

[] Spacecraft Painting Day!:
You have quite a few more spacecraft in your hanger right now than before. And you also noticed that they are not that uniform in terms of appearance, so why not buying a few buckets of paint and repaint them in Star Fox's colors, and maybe customize their appearance a bit? Alternatively, the option to go completely wild with the painting does exist, should you want to take it.
Cost: 80 LD for every 1 total leadership value of spacecraft painted.
Reward: ???
-[] Select if you are going to paint the spacecraft uniform or "artistic"
-[] Also select the spacecraft to paint from the Hanger, including the new Cloud Hawks. However, since the Invader Mk.1 might be sold soon, it is being barred from painting.

[] Shopping Day!:
Since it is the weekend and there are quite a few sales in the local mall nearby, why not treat your hirlings who want to go to some spending money and send them off to the mall and shop to their heart's content? Might also treat yourself to something too if you are interested...
Cost: 80 LD per crew-mates who wants to go...
Reward: ???

[] Write-in option:
There might be something else that you all could do but it is not coming to you yet...
Cost: TBD
Reward: ???

Hannah's our de facto our second in command. I'd like to get on a tight basis with her in order to ensure that we're on the same page.

Eh, pizza party, because you don't jump to wooing a single person after less than a week.

I for one would perhaps avoid group outings in public a bit longer. Remember tabloids?
Ah... Hrm.

On the other hand, showing people that we hired some guys might help? I really do want to do something as a group, and having our first weekend be "Lets all paint our ships together!" feels a little bit off. We can make them do that, next weekend.

Any ideas for a write in?

Tabloids gonna be tabloids. This close to recent 'headlines' could disrupt the activity if too many look and wonder.

Given some just arrived, I think letting them talk to each other on their own may be best for now. Free activity day or shopping are fine if you really don't feel like doing paint now.

I think that the Free Activity Day would be best. While we have a reserve, I think we should be cautious on what we're spending on it. Also, we need to make sure that our four new arrivals are situated and ready to go on our next mission. Personally the reason why I think we should spend time with Hannah is that she's the only other Veteran in our team as of now, the rest are either newbies or barely seasoned. Unless we get someone better, she's the second in command and we need to make sure that we're on the same page. As our group gets bigger, we need to make sure that she's capable of running a squad of her own and depending if she's able and willing: help us and ROB run the outfit.

Right now we're capable of manning roughly 1.5 squads worth of ships. Once we get the new fighters and the corvette fully manned, we're going to have to designate a second squad leader.

Honestly, I was also thinking before seeing this that if I wanted to spend time with someone, it would be Hannah.
