[X] Let Manny and Alessandra keep the vests, go with only football gear.

[X] 2 stim-pack, 2 dosage of rad-away, 2 disinfectant, per person. (18 units of medicine used total.)

Like said best position to deal getting shot at others aren't.

@ninjafish what are the chances of coming across still alive military forces? I mean according to holotapes in Fallout 4 days after the bombs dropped there were still some active doing stuff.

If they are a thing hope we run into some of the few morally upright ones rather than those that will basically turn into heavily armed raiders or warlords not long from now.

Detroit Prep 3.

Alright, so medicine and armor were handled. You had decided that Manny and Alessandra probably needed the protection from the police vests more than you did.

All that remained was prioritization. What supplies were more important than others?

XXXX

(Alright so quick rundown from me because this a bit different, you're only going to have control of Alexander during this mission, so you need to decide what supplies the others will prioritize obtaining. Now I'm going to give you an example of how this should be done.)

Author Example.

[EX] Manny.
-[EX1] Food
-[EX2] Water
-[EX3] Tech
-[EX4] Weapon's/Ammo
-[EX5] More Car's.

[EX] Alessandra.
-[EX1] Books.
-[EX2] Tech
-[EX3] Weapons
-[EX4] Food.
-[EX5] Medicine.

Remove the EX's number 1 would be the highest priority 5 would be lowest.

Write-ins are acceptable, within reason.

End Author Example.

Alright, this is the last of the super short prep updates.

No real fluff, just make your choices and I'll lock it in a day or so.

Just a reminder you actually have a means of producing water and medicine back in the camp.

So you may want prioritize other things over those.

You can only produce basic anti-biotics and disinfectants though.

For the record, it is far better to vote like so:
[1] Item 1
[3] Item 2
[2] Item 3

or
[1] Item 1
[2] Item 3
[3] Item 2
You can have them in any order and the vote tally will record it, and will display results in order, (with one being most favored)

edit:

##### NetTally 1.7.3.2

Options:

Winner: Item 1
[1] Alanek

First Runner Up: Item 3
[2] Alanek

Second Runner Up: Item 2
[3] Alanek

Total No. of Voters: 1

it will only recognize your first vote for each number, though.

edit 2: if you have it as, say,
[x]Manny
-[1]
-[2]
-[3]

It will also work, and divide it in categories.

Alright. Changing.

How does this look as a plan?
Plan: Finders, Keepers

Manny
[1] [Manny] Food (Prioritize Preservables and Sealed e.g. Canned)
[2] [Manny] Guns (Prioritize Long Rifles and Automatic Weapons)
[3] [Manny] Ammo (Any type with priority to what we currently have)
[4] [Manny] Armor (Prioritize Police/Army checkpoints)
[5] [Manny] Tech (Prioritize Intact Tech that survived the EMP)

Alessandra
[1] [Alessandra] Food (Prioritize Preservables and Sealed e.g. Canned)
[2] [Alessandra] Medicine (Prioritize supplies we can't currently make. E.g. Stimpacks, Radaway, etc)
[3] [Alessandra] Tech (Prioritize intact lab equipment that can upgrade our Chem Lab. E.g Lab Glassware, Measuring tools, etc)
[4] [Alessandra] Luxury Items (Prioritize stuff that will make life alot easier. E.g. Condoms, Tampons, Razors, Soap, Lip Balm, Towels, Backpacks etc)
[5] [Alessandra] Ammo (Any type with priority to what we currently have)

We should prioritize food as we lack the means to make more and our rapidly growing population will eat through our stores quickly.
Equally we need to arm up with some heavier firepower to ward off possible threats before the mutations start kicking in.

Considering the statement about ghouls, I'm kinda wishing for that mini-gun and powerarmor.

That plan looks good through.

[X] Ulster's Hound

Also, I are a dumb.

The correct format is
[#] [Manny] vote
[#] [Manny] vote

[#] [Alessandra] vote
[#] [Alessandra] vote

... and this time I confirmed on the Github for the vote tally program.

Sorry for the misinformation.

Man it's funny I know what's gonna happen (for non dice rolls) for several years out.

All of these choices are pretty good.

But are you missing something?

It is a mystery.

Damn, now you've got me paranoid.

Lets think about this, we have we got to worry about...
-Vault 88, which had that test on Medtek's new stasis pods. Set to open in about 200 years so not really an issue.
- The various nearby factions, including the Mid-West BOS in Chicago, Enclave and the Canadian Liberation Army along with Ronto and The Pitt although none of them should exist yet or be in a position to hurt us.
- The Master is not around yet and pops up on the other side of the country so no worries there.
- Super Mutants might be an issue, although I don't think Detroit had any in canon.
- Fresh Feral Ghouls are going to be an issue depending on how many there are and possible hordes.
- Deathclaws aren't common knowledge for at least another 100 years and require the Master anyway.
- Wanamingo's are around but hopefully on the other side of the country. If we run into one of them it's quest over anyway.
- Raider groups shouldn't be really organised yet. Real life examples after catastrophes shows it usually takes a minimum of 2 weeks before groups like that get organised and desperate enough.

Apart from that, the only thing I can think is that there's going to be fallout, although that's deal-able. After all its not like there's going to be a Nuclear Wint...e...r.....

Shit.

The Bombs dropped on September 30th didn't they? And Detroit gets how cold again? -10 degrees centigrade? And the Survivor from Honest Hearts said that there was a winter with glowing snow around January 2078/9?

It was on the 23rd of October, 9:47am Eastern time. November usually has 0 - 9 °C and December -6 - 2 °C in Detroit.

We are looking at a christmas covered in a few meters of radioactive black snow.

Edit: Actually... that makes no sense...
Where would the water actually come from? The whole black rain setup only makes sense if you have a large source of moist air around, like Hiroshima and Nagasika had with being coastal cities on a narrow island.
Detroit is probably not getting much black rain at first, since all the water would be already falling back down to earth over the eastern coast or Canada, depending on the wind direction.

By the time there comes enough moisture through all the other dust clouds, most of the stuff in Detroit will probably have either settled on its own or got blown into the higher layers of the atmosphere. Up there, the dust will stay for a while and cause the actual nuclear winter, but that also lowers evaporation and thus rain/snow for a few years.

We might be actually facing a drought... A drought with polar temperatures, but a drought none the less.

The bombs dropped October 23rd at around ten AM

Also deathclaws don't require the master, they were a prewar bio weapon.

Also your getting close with concerns about and a glowing winters a thing... what I'm talking about will happen sooner.

Also be acknowledged that while I will be using lore from all games, fallout tactics is only semi canon last I checked and thus I'm pretty much just gonna cherry pick from it.

Whereas the events of Fallout 1, 2, 3, New vegas and 4, will be held to held to strictly barring any changes you might make.

As for where the water would come from?

Parts of the Rocky Mountains have been re shaped via nukes, and thus several current have changed.

Also the bombs pumped a lot of heat into the atmosphere causing among other massive updrafts in certain areas.

Also your right on the Great Lakes.

Ugh, people, we really, REALLY need intact truck or at least van. Because it's not our last run, car is too small to haul lot... and we will need construction materials sooner or later and later we will lose best options to get one.
...
...
...
Also we really, really need tech repair specialist but that is purely matter of luck so not worth it to search for.

Not sure what is good for the rest of the plan.

I would advise we go for vehicle, weapon, tools.

These are simple enough to find and immediately useful.

Would it be wind/sand storm we are encountering?

Or just biker gang and their bigger cousin - trucker gang?

The Drive. (Detroit Turn 1.)
So hey there.

This your GM with your regular update on the next turns progress.

Yeah it's fucking done.

Here you go, have fun with it.

Post, vote, discuss, criticize, you know the drill.

Also once again thanks to @Japanime for his hard work as a beta reader, couldn't do it, or at least not as well, without you buddy kudos.

The supplies were packed, all the preparations had been made. There was only one thing left to do… and that was to set out.

Which is how you found yourself sitting shotgun beside Manny McAllister in a Corvega sedan.

You had thought that your neighborhood had looked bad, but it was only now that you were out of its relative safety that you saw just how badly the world had been fucked over.

Ahead of you Detroit loomed, skyline ablaze with fiery red and noxious green lights, like the most demented Christmas ever conceived, and all around your dinky little sedan were the dust and echoes of a world freshly murdered.

Scorched trees stripped clean of leaves now stood rooted in nothing but ashes and soot, burnt out husks of countless cars adorned cracked and shattered roads. Which were themselves covered in the rubble of once standing buildings, homes and businesses and schools… Nothing escaped the power of the atom.

All in all, it was rather depressing.

"This is really it huh? T-They really did it, blew up the whole world…"

Alessandra, for the first time since you left, spoke up and shattered the oppressive silence.

"Yeah, yeah they did. Good ol' Uncle Sam went and fucked us all over."

You replied, okay, and maybe you let a bit of your own bitterness slip through, but it's not like there's anyone to report your "Un-American thought's" anymore now is there?

"Why? What justifies all this? How many died because of this, and for what? Why do we have to get stuck with this!"

Ah great, you were never good with people, particularly not ones having displays of emotion like this, and especially not women…

"Alessandra, I'm gonna be honest. I don't know, and I'm not sure anyone knows. But getting depressed or just getting angry? That's not gonna help us. We may not have started the fire, but we're stuck with it. Now all we can do is try our best not to get burned."

Alessandra seems prone to speak up again, anger still clear on her face… and that's why you didn't do the people thing very much.

Thankfully Manny decides he may have better luck calming this situation down.

"Ally, look do you think that we're not sad? That we ain't angry as all hell that we got stuck with this… this, shitshow? Naw we're all pissed, we're all sad. But Alex is right, we have people counting on us right now. Getting all mopey? That's not gonna help them one bit. If you're angry, put that anger to work. We got mouths to feed and supplies to find, sweetheart. If you want to ask yourself why, that's fine. But do it on your own time. That's what I'm doin."

Alessandra continues to smolder for a second, then most of the irritation leaves her face…

"First, don't call Me Ally, or sweetheart or any other cutesy nickname. Only my parent's get to call me by anything other than my name… But yeah, you're right, getting all worked up over questions no one can answer, well that's stupid. It's not gonna help mom, or Damian, or anyone else. But it's just, it's just so awful you know? How do you even cope with something like this, how do you get it to stop eating at you? That papa died for something like oil or some backwater piece of land in Alaska… It hurts"

Alessandra looks lost, the look in her eyes… you recognize that one, you've seen it in the mirror plenty after all.

"It never stops Alessandra."

Your voice is quiet, only a little more than a whisper.

"Question's like that? About something like this? They'll probably never really go away. But that doesn't mean it won't hurt less… you just gotta deal with it however you can, bull through it, talk it out, however you choose, with problems like these you just need to confront them, drag them into the mud and wrestle them until you win… you may be doing that for a couple of months, maybe for the rest of your life. But you just gotta keep going you can't let it win. You can't let the "what if's" and the "why's" gnaw at your mind without a fight, otherwise they'll chew you up and spit out something awful."

You take a breath, and you feel as if a small weight has fallen off your shoulders… maybe, while you had been trying to get Alessandra out of her funk, you'd inadvertently given yourself a bit of pep talk.

Well fuck it, it was helping at least one person, might as well keep going.

"I know, I'm rambling… look the point is, your dad died, your world got blown up. That's pretty damn awful by any standard. It hurts a lot, and it will keep hurting for a long time, you've seen some things that no one should have to."

Another deep breath, Booming guns and screams for help echo in your ears for a moment.

And you shake them off.

"But it will get better, slowly but surely, it will start to hurt a bit less, the nightmares will stop showing up so much. You just gotta keep going, and deal with it in whatever way works for you."

You stop talking, that honestly felt good, exhausting, but good. Alessandra still seems to be processing what you've said, a pensive look adorning her face.

The car goes silent, except for the occasional sounds of wheels going over uneven road. The silence lingers for at least 10 minutes.

"Manny, Alexander, thank you." Whereas your voice had been just a bit above a whisper… Alessandra's voice was barely audible at all.

Manny smiles, it's still a bit tired, but there's some genuine cheer behind that grin.

As for you?

"No problem."

No seriously that's it, your lips didn't quirk up or anything, honest.

It's at about this time that a human figure appears in the headlights, way too close to stop, or even get a good look at them.

A loud thunk, and the car lurches upwards before resuming its original course…

You all look at one another, and then Manny slams his foot on the breaks.

"Well… shit."

XXXXX

Do you get out of the car or keep going?

[] Get out, see if they're still alive, if they are you might be able to save them. If they're not, well you don't really have time for a proper burial… but you could at least drag the body off the road, so they don't get splattered by any other passerby. (Alessandra and Manny appreciate this, ???)

[] Keep going, you don't have time to stop, idiot shouldn't have run out into the road. (No delays, Alessandra Disapproves.)

AN: With prep over, we are now back to meatier updates. So yayifications.

Now if you Excuse me I'm going to sleep, see y'all in the morning.
