Well, I can give it a go for my votes... Not sure if I would need two or if having one that applies to both would work but I'm going to give it a try.

[X] Stunt: "Well, that is not unexpected I suppose." Liberalism told the apprentice who mentioned the smaller amount of orders they were receiving. "Many businesses go through periods where it is necessary to go out and find customers instead of waiting for them to come to you." talking more to himself. Turning back to his apprentice "So tell me, as someone who has lived here longer than I have, which organizations do you think we could approach for more work?".

Not hugely happy with this stunt but I'd rather have one than none.

As more people learn to read the more educated they will be in general. The more educated people are in general the more productive they are on average. The more productive people are on average the more wealth there is for the entirety of society. We are not just working to make money, but to help everyone else make money."

In the dark, a man waits.

His ears are in rapt attention. Outside the city is muted as it rests for the night. Outside he hears footsteps. His body tenses up ready to fight, but soon the people pass, their footsteps vanishing into the distance.

He relaxes.

Hours pass as footsteps near and pass, the city sounds grow softer and softer.

Footsteps approach the door. There is frantic whispering between a few people.

The man in darkness draws his weapons.

The handle jiggles before opening.

Four men enter the building their eyes wandering around the room, before they spot the machine off to the side.

A crossbow bolt emerges from the darkness embedding himself in the second man' shoulder.

"Get him." A third voice loudly whispers, his group charging forward drawing their short swords.

The man in the dark charges forward to meet them his own sword in hand.

A blade is pressed against a throat.

"Leave."

Fear in his eyes the man nods and walks out leaving his dead and dying compatriots to litter the floor.

Morning comes.

An apprentice opens the door.

"Good morning." the apprentice says.

"Good morning." the guard says.

He looks around to see blood marking the floor and making tracks as bodies were dragged off to a neighboring room.

"It happened again?"

"Sadly."

"Judging by the mess, you did not have to wake the master up, this time."

"Thankfully."

"Indeed, you can take off now. I can finish cleaning up."

The guard nods and walks out of the building.

I was planning on introducing events that raise the capital cost midstream later on, but if you really want them now I guess I could put it in early.

I had planned to introduce it after the newspaper started making enemies, as any purveyor of information others would prefer be kept secret does.

Which kinda doesn't mesh with the Printing Press being the focus of the aggressors.

Omake is non-canon.

Okay, training the apprentices to be better. Commerce specialty doesn't apply, but you did invest 1 more capital than needed so you get an extra die for that. I'm not feeling the stunt, so no bonus for that. Motes are easy to come by at these timescales and you have a ridiculously large mote pool regardless.

I need 15d10 for the planning period.

I kept the minions source vague, but they were from a gang to acquire protection money.
Not the first attempt, but considering how much money we seem to be making, some would consider it worth the risk.
Especially if they don't know about the night guard.

    It takes a month to draw up the plans, and two more months to bring them to fruition, but you do it. You have made sure that your apprentices know intimately the process of printing. They can now be assumed to do the work adequately without your direct supervision. However, you know their skill can still be improved. You just wish you had a stopwatch. Time and Motion Studies are nowhere near as efficacious without them.

    There's an idea.


    Personal Action:

    [x] Raise Occult: You've spent the last three months digging into the available scientific literature in your spare time. Most of the difficulty and time spent was in actually acquiring the books themselves. You wound up having to fly to nexus at least twice.

    What you find is interesting. The basic physical model of the world is not quite Aristotelian, having significant intervention from the spirits of the world, and elements of atomism. You however, are more interested in the references made towards sorcery. A form of magic by shaping the essence of the world itself. You suspect that true knowledge of the underlying fundamentals of the world will come from learning sorcery and how it interacts with mundane physics.

    (Occult raised to 4, Sorcery Merit may now be purchased for 15xp)
