    Your internal musing was interrupted by the sound of a door slamming. From the halls come a giant of a man, garbed in Obsidian plate with Azure and Auric highlights. Upon his shoulders was the image of a Mace, stylized in a specific way. He came to a stop before you and looked you all over. You could feel...

    Before he started speaking. "You have been found worthy of the holiest of tasks. You will serve the Emperor of Man, bringing salvation to his Flock and Apocalypse to the wolves surrounding him. You will be clothed in the steel of Hatred, armed with stolen fire to be used against them, and your Honor and Duty will guide you. Trials will begin shortly."

    You are then taken to an open arena, where there are two men within. They only wear some long, cloth pants and are holding a type of mace. You are given the option of one or two weapons or a shield and are expected to last against both of them for 2 minutes. When you are called up, you choose...

    [] An Axe: Poor reach, Good versatility, Great power.
    [] A Knife: Terrible Reach, Excellent versatility, Ok Power.
    [] An Auto Pistol: Excellent Reach, Terrible Versatility, Good power.
    [] A Shield (Can Only take with Sword, Axe, or knife): Good Blocking.

    (AN: I am totally ninjaing Sword's Captain selection trials from his Chapter Master quest, but it's a great way to set up a trial.)

    Not sure what'd cause us to feel an uncomfortable presence, since blanks wouldn't really work out in Psyker Chapter Land.
    I guess if we were a psyker and he was a daemonhost?

    It was more he was being a bit rougher in trying to find some preliminary facts via telepathy. This option would mean that you are a natural psyker, and reacted to him rooting around uncomfortably.
     
    Well. Sword and shield is nice but I really hope this doesn't lock us into a specialization. Kinda hard to channel the warp while locked in melee with thousand suns after all.

    Swapped it over to being a strong psyker.

    Aw I'd wanted to be a Beta and have to spend several turns trying not to go crazy.

    Now that I think about it, why can't we go "Shield and Gun"?
    Are our arms so noodly that we can't one-hand the autopistol?
    'cause shield and gun is a legit thing Astartes do.
     
    We chose a force weapon for the chapters favored weapon right as a psyker shouldn't we choose the melee version of that weapon for personal use so it's easy to upgrade.

    That'd be an excellent point, if only we were being offered a glaive.
    None of the weapons in front of us are really used in a manner similar to a glaive.
     
    Huh, just realized something - as close as our homeworld is to Fenris...
    It's just about equally close to the ruins of Prospero,
