The Scenario
(Madara POV)
"Master." Zetsu slithered behind you. "The-"
"I know" You replied, not looking up from the notes you were looking at. Ahh, so you needed to carry the two this time.
"But all of our work has been for naught. The new recruits to carry on your legacy-" Zetsu, again disturbed your thoughts.
"There will be others who will come to us Zetsu. Besides, my plan worked perfectly." You replied as you set the notes down and faced the man covered in shadows.
"How master?" There was confusion in Zetsu's voice, he clearly had not suspected you to be pleased with the current development.
"When was the last time you checked in on the nin we hired?" You asked.
"When they crossed the Rain and Bird border. What does-" You raised your hand, silencing him.
"It has everything to do with those children. The nations are now scrambling to find the children, whether to breed them, to rescue them, or just to kill them. The tensions are running high and after such a short period of peace. What if information leaked out that Iwa and Kumo had an agreement, to trade a few of the children that those academy students could bear, starting separate clans loyal to their own villages. Even if we don't get the children, the plan has worked flawlessly."
You paused, and Zetsu's smile grew. "You wish to start a war if you can't get what you want?"
"Only war can breed souls willing enough to do anything for peace." You stated. "Seeing your parents die, your friends… your brother." Izuna's smiling face flashed in your mind, the memory making you clench your fist in subdued anger. "It changes you, makes you open to any possibility to prevent that kind of pain again." You looked up at Zetsu.
"Yes, master?" Zetsu asked.
"Check on them in a few days, make sure they are still on schedule." You ordered.
"And if they aren't?" Zetsu asked.
"Don't waste your efforts on them… focus on fanning the flames that have grown in their absence."
Zetsu slithered away into the shadows, leaving you alone and at peace.
It did not matter if the war started now, or in ten years. All you needed was a successor that could carry on with your plan.
Whether it be the academy students being brought here, or some orphaned from the war their kidnapping would spark, you would have someone able and willing to carry on your legacy.
But you had time.
After all, everything was going as planned.
AN: Enjoy.
Edit: Wrote this in 20 minutes before work, if there are any mistakes, put that on my need to finish it quickly.
