Infinity and Margins
While the others move around, and mingle, you stay in place. You're decently sure Lavenza wasn't being entirely literal, but that's not the same as being completely certain, and you don't think you want to take the risk right now. She's sort of one of the only people you can rely on.

You can see, with just a glance around the room, that some of the others are also choosing more sedate activities than conversation. Chidori-san, for example, has her sketchbook out, and appears to be trying her hardest to get the image of the Velvet Room accurately laid-out on the page. You wouldn't really be surprised at all if she ended up stealing colored pencils from the art room later, or something. She'll probably be at it for a while.

Morgana, meanwhile, has curled up in the middle of the room. He seems incredibly comfortable here, which is weird, given what happened the first time you tried to introduce him to Lavenza. Despite obviously trying to get a bit of a catnap in, he has yet to return to his housecat form.
If it's like last time he was in a place like this, it might just be that he can't turn back. I can't imagine sleeping in that form would be comfortable...
Makoto-san is taking notes. Or possibly making adjustments to the map. You aren't sure how he'd be able to do the second one without actually being in the Labyrinth, but he seems to be giving it his best shot.

Still... you suppose there's worse places to do it. Whatever may be said about the people who live here, the room itself is nice and peaceful.

Maybe you can just... enjoy that peace, for a little while.

When Lavenza comes back to the room, she is closely followed by Elizabeth. "I... see you've all been making yourselves comfortable," She says, her voice and expression as unreadable as if she'd been taking lessons from Makoto-san. "With my sister here, we may be able to discover the cause of this... anomaly."

"By 'anomaly', you mean the boon, correct?" Elizabeth asks, sounding more confident in her words than Akira has been in his whole life. This is saying a lot less than it should, but it's still something.

Aigis blinks at her. "What part of Makoto-san being unable to change his Persona would you call a boon?"

"It would be best to start from the beginning," Lavenza decides. "This anomaly in the powers of the Fool Arcana is occurring due to the presence of multiple Wild Cards within a finite world."

"A finite world..." Zen repeats, his voice quiet. "Yes, that is... what this place is. A finite existence. One that will, in all ways, come to an end."
Even in memory... Once we're done here, it'll be gone from even that.
Zen's words make you feel... sad, almost, though you can't see anything to be sad about at the moment.

"I guess that explains why we can't leave the school," Mitsuru-san says.

Lavenza nods along. "Exactly. This is a margin world- one that exists between the layers of reality more deeply than even the Velvet Room..." She glances at her surroundings. "...Most of the time, at least. You cannot explore a world beyond the school because it simply does not exist. And in a finite space like this... the infinite potential of the Wild Card is morphed into... something else, which has never been seen before."

"Huh?" Junpei-san seems confused. "How does that work?"

It's Elizabeth who answers him. "Imagine, if you will, a box. This box has a set of preset dimensions which may not be crossed. Now, to this box, add an infinite supply of liquid of some kind. Soap, perhaps. Or water, or blood, or whatever you prefer, so long as it is fairly fluid."

You think she may be drifting from the point she was trying to get at. Just a little.

Rei has her face screwed up, and she's clearly trying to think up the scenario that Elizabeth presents. "Um... uh... ...My head hurts."

"Maybe don't try to comprehend infinity," Lavenza sighs. "It's... not something meant for the human mind, particularly when the scenario my sister presents doesn't even need infinity to to be explained- just a larger finity than that of at least one dimension of the box. When that dimension is filled to capacity, the liquid will turn back, and start to overlap with itself, part of the liquid- or power, in the case of the changes to the Wild Card- will return to its source."

This almost makes sense, except that there's clearly something missing from the explanation you've been given. Or several things, but there's one that stands out to you the most right now.

[ ] ...If that's the case, shouldn't Makoto-san and Elizabeth just be more powerful?

[ ] ...So, what does the presence of multiple Wild Cards have to do with this?

[ ] And this is stopping Makoto-san from using his other Personas how?

I think the problem is less 'power' and more 'existence'. I could be off, though.

The Boon
"Shouldn't that just make Elizabeth-san and Makoto-san stronger, then?" You point out. That's what makes sense to you. "If the powers just going back to them..."

"But she didn't say that, did she?" Elizabeth points out. "She said that the power is going back to its source- that of the bonds we draw power from."

"Could you... maybe word that differently?" Makoto-san suggests. "You're making it sound like we're... some sort of vampire."

"All right, then." She nods. "The Wild Card ability runs off of what you call the power of friendship, and now this power is being returned in a manner that is... fairly direct."

"And now it just sounds cheesy... did you have to add the power of friendship thing?"

"Well, how else would you describe it?" She shoots back. Makoto-san is completely silent. "I thought so. Getting to know a person gives a deeper understanding of their Arcana, and with it, allows Personas of that Arcana to be more powerful, eventually presenting the ability to create Personas of immense power... though, in this world, things work a bit differently." She flips through the pages of the book she carries with her, and for the first time you can actually see what is inside them- pages upon pages of Personas.
We need to remember to be careful with them. And to hope that nobody picks up something that's a terrible fit for them.
"While you are here, the Personas that come entirely from within yourself- your true Personas- are immutable fact," Lavenza explains. "This is more of an issue for Yuki than it is for my sister, as residents of the Velvet Room, even Wild Cards, work differently to other Persona Users, but the shift between will still not come as easily as it does in the world you all know."

Elizabeth seems annoyed by this, but she doesn't say anything.

"This sounds like it could pose a serious disadvantage," Mitsuru-san muses. "Yuki's Wild Card ability is what allows him his usual versatility in battle."

She's not wrong. Makoto-san is one of your most reliable teammates because he always has access to something that is useful for your particular situation, no matter how odd it would be for someone to have such a thing if they weren't in the habit of carrying so many options with them.

"Perhaps you would like to experience some of that versatility for yourself, then?" Elizabeth suggests. "In this finite space, the Wild Card carries too much potential for any one person to carry alone, and some of that potential reflects back on our bonds. Our power has taken on a new shape, and with it... observe!"

Without warning, she tosses a card at Mitsuru-san. She catches it, and it is absorbed into her skin. "This is... a second Persona?"
Elizabeth-san. You don't just yeet a Persona at somebody and call it a day. That's not how explanations work.
"You won't be able to rely on its elemental affinities, and anything you do with it will scale off of your true Persona's power, but the magic that this second Persona learns, the effects that it has upon the body of its summoner... that will remain, and be fully available to you. I call this a 'sub-Persona.'"

Mitsuru-san flicks her fingers, and a strong breeze blows through the Velvet Room. Junpei-san shudders. "...I see. This will be useful. Is there any sort of limit to this?"

"I would not recommend attempting to command a Persona that is much more powerful than yourself," Lavenza states. "There are stories of Guests doing so in the past, and it tended to end... messily." You don't want to know. Elizabeth also seems uncomfortable by these words. "And, of course, not all Persona Users have an affinity for Personas of all Arcanas. And that this is happening through a distortion in the power of the Wild Card..."

Elizabeth seems a lot less bothered. "The Fool Arcana is safe," She declares. "As are the Arcanas of your true Personas. Aside from that... as this was caused by powers gifted by the Fool Arcana, borrowing the Arcana of those you are particularly close to should also work. If you could track down Theo, he would likely have a better idea of what all of you are capable of."

And yet she still threw a random Persona at Mitsuru-san. Because of course she did. You don't even think it was an Empress, not that you could tell very well from where you're standing.

Still... you can certainly see the potential in this. But what are you going to do about it?

[ ] You're going to find Theodore, so he can tell you exactly what sort of Personas you're capable of safely using. (Learn everyone's Arcana affinities.)

[ ] You should probably talk to Mitsuru-san, because she's the only one with any sort of experience with this at all. (+Diligence.)

[ ] You're just going to pick up a Persona and see where it gets you. (+Courage. Acquire a random sub-Persona.)

[ ] Maybe you'll just... not touch this whole thing just yet. At least until you've seen how everyone else is handling it.

I'm sorta hoping we'll have a third evolution for our persona since I feel like we're going to grow past Kala Nemi in the future

Because Friendship works both ways!

Well, she did say that:
Elizabeth seems a lot less bothered. "The Fool Arcana is safe," She declares.
So, she might be crazy, but I don't think she's stupid. That was probably a Fool thing.

Also, I wonder if Ken can equip Lavenza as his sub-persona? Or can Lavenza equip herself as her own sub-persona?

We know that Lavenza IS Strength so choose one of that.
Koromaru also is Strength but we do not know it.

Knowing everyone else's Arcana seems like it would be useful going forward.
