It turns out that the transfer student has a lot of possessions.
The boxes- cardboard, plastic, and in one case covered in fabric- arrive in the mail on Saturday, mostly labeled as containing clothes, but there's also a very nice computer, an old television set the size of Koromaru, a box labeled with 'important items' that you, Takeba-san, and Mitsuru-san all agree you shouldn't open, assorted water-based gear, notebooks, and one box that Mitsuru-san looks at, her eyes flash, and suddenly none of you are allowed to so much as touch it.
You can't really scan very well- not enough practice- but you try it on a whim, and you get a very odd feeling from that box. Like it's filled with Shadows or something.
Did- did Makoto-san just ship a box full of Plumes of Dusk to Iwatodai?
If Mitsuru-san finds it concerning, either you'll find out the answer soon after Makoto-san shows up, or she'll handle it herself and you'll never hear anything about it again. You don't know which one's more likely, but you foresee a very long talk at some point in the ill-fated transfer student's near future.
"So, what room do you think we should give him?" Takeba-san asks. "I mean, the room next to Amada-kun's seems obvious, but..." But there was never any sort of organization that's been enforced. From what you can tell, everyone's always just taken the rooms they wanted. Except Makoto-san won't be getting here for another few days, and you need to do something with all of these boxes instead of letting them lie around blocking the front door for the entire weekend.
"The other end of the hall would work, too," You suggest. You don't know why you say it, but... it feels right, sort of. There's even an empty room right above it, though you aren't sure why that matters. "...It'd be a longer walk with the boxes, though."
And it's not like you're really opposed to having a new neighbor, it's just that... you remember when this place used to house just three people besides yourself. And now you've got a cat, a dog, Takeba-san and now Makoto-san... Thinking about it, it's a pretty big change.
At least there's only Junpei-san left, on this floor. And then it'll be Mitsuru-san and Yukari-san's turn to get new neighbors.
"...Let's use the room next to Amada-kun's." You aren't entirely sure what drives Mitsuru-san to make that decision, but now that she's spoken, there's no reason to go against it.
Also, it might not be entirely healthy if you did. You know you probably don't have anything to worry about, but it's a perfectly normal reaction to dealing with someone capable of causing mind control or eternal winter.
...Well. You think it is. You've never had the chance to check.
You're not really messing with what's in the boxes beyond getting them into the room, but even that's fairly difficult when none of you are in the habit of lifting heavy weights.
And then there's the box that none of you are allowed to touch. Mitsuru-san glares and rescans it every once in a while, though you don't know why she expects whatever it is to change.
Mitsuru-san, you can't use scanning to check object origins. We already know this.
It eventually vanishes, but whether or not it makes it to Makoto-san's new room is something you don't particularly feel the need to check. You aren't sure how much it matters.
Makoto-san's late.
Now, the idea of travel delays is not a completely foreign concept to you. But he was supposed to get here four hours ago.
"Should we start worrying now?" Takeba-san asks. Mitsuru-san turns on the news, which is talking about... a major mess on the rail lines. Well, you'll give it points for relevancy.
"...Amada-kun, perhaps you should go to bed," She suggests. "Whether Yuki gets here or not, you do have school in the morning."
It's not that late, you think. Dinner was only a couple of hours ago. And you have stayed up until the Dark Hour in past, and doing stuff in Tartarus is a lot more tiring than just sitting around downstairs... though, admittedly, your group would prefer to avoid going to Tartarus on school nights. The last time you did that, you went through the next morning in a sort of daze, but that might have just been the near-death experience.
[ ] Do as Mitsuru-san says. Some sleep would be really nice right now...
[ ] You can still stay up longer.
