Cat-based teleportation does not give that ability.
Okay, so cat-based teleportation and friends are pretty much mutually exclusive. Schrodinger's people, I think that you actually need to switch; being able to teleport doesn't do anything if we're leaving all our stuff behind. Hats help, but if you're already limited to hat-based teleportation, why spend the points on the other teleportation, that you probably won't have a use for?

I think their idea was that minions make a good distraction so as to be able to teleport around. At least, I vaguely remember reading that comment from a Schrodinger supporter I think.

So, in the scenario I outlined just now, where we just chased someone out of their home or something, and hit Mic Drop right before they get outside?

They'd spend several seconds confused, likely realize they were Stranger'd, call in a M/S situation on themselves if part of the PRT or Protectorate, and may eventually remember after several minutes of struggling. Less time if someone tells them they reported an encounter with you.

But by then it would be too late.

[X] Plan Hat Wearing Abominations

Since Cat-based teleportation doesn't let us take our Friends with us.

It was in the reasoning for the original vote.

Hrrm. @Alivaril, is "line of sight" measured by them actually perceiving us, by their eyes receiving photons that bounced off us, or by us having unbroken line of effect to them?
We don't need to take them with us.
I think that the Zerg association is messing with valuation of Friends. We're a tinker, not a master, and we don't crap them out like a queen would. In other words, our Friends aren't disposable, we actually do need to take them with us. Plus they represent a massive portion of our power and flexibility - having friends with hats around means we have multiple powers to draw on versus our one.

Variant on B and C. They don't have to perceive you, but you do have to be outsite the information received by their eyes. However, mirrors and most other reflections don't count for the purposes of "line of sight," making your life that much easier.

Do our hats have to be actual hats? Or do they just have to look like hats? How damaged would a hat have to be before it stops counting as a hat?

Robot hats.

Robot hats.

Living and robotic hats exist in the public consciousness; therefore, they are fair game. The powers given by them wouldn't be any stronger or weaker than those given by ordinary hats, though. In addition, anything you're wearing as a hat cannot wear a hat larger than it is. So you could have a pyramid of Friends using Friends as hats, but not a tower.

EDIT: You would not get powers from the hat of your hat.

So what we need is a hat that grants a power-amplification power. Then each hat in the tower is a power-amplifier that grants power amplification and then amplifies it with its power. The topmost hat would not have amplification. The next hat down would have amplification. The next hat down would have amplification amplified by the basic amplification ability. The next hat down would have amplification amplified by the amplified amplification power. The next hat down would be etc. We have ultimate cosmic power, ladies and gentlemen, we just have to make the right friends.

We need a hat that makes other things stronger?
I reserve the right to abort the quest if we end up wearing a fractal MAGA hat.

Can hats that are neither living or robotic get hat powers?

No.

Just as a kaiju wearing a hat would get appropriately strong powers, a living mini-hat wearing a mini-hat would have appropriately weak powers. You'd probably be better off just making normal-sized Friends with appropriately-sized hats of their own. OOC: Also, no hats on my list so far give amplification powers to prevent exactly this sort of thing. Admittedly, I was thinking of Tinkering or Dauntless-esque powers instead at the time...

No, you cannot give yourself kaiju-appropriate powers by wearing a really big hat. Said hat would be its own type of hat by then and would thus provide a different power (or powers if FiSB is taken), not a stronger or weaker power(set).

Can we make a hat with legs so that we don't have to worry about silly things like can our spine support this weight?

We don't need to take them with us while teleporting, they can move around just fine on thier own. While we still need to direct them, we don't have to carry them around, otherwise they stop being Friends and start being Accessories.

Question!
Do Fedoras give Path to Victory?

I'm shocked it took someone this long to ask. No, but they do give a Thinker power(set if FiSB is chosen). I won't say what kind; I'd prefer for QA to find out while shopping.

How large can a hat be before it is leaning on the wearer?

You need to be able to support its weight. So you could have a blimp-sized hat (@TheBiggerFish's idea), but it would still just be a different type of hat, not a stronger or weaker one.

If a friend has multiple heads can it have as many hats as heads?

QA does not know, but doesn't think so; she's not good at multi-headed creatures. No central administration hub, y'see.

I'm surprised I'm surprised by this question.

If you make a Friend that's just the right size, I suppose so. Too large and you'd run into the same problem as insects on your head, too small and you'd hurt their cute little necks or would simply fall off.

Can our minions friends have a tiny backpacks full of tiny hats to switch with on demand? Maybe repurpose one or both of their blade arms into hands switch hats with? And hold them down so that they dont lose them I suppose.

Thank you I do try my best. And thats a silly problem clearly we'd make this friend with hand rail shaped ears.
