The idea is for your dragoons to outmaneuver the enemy. Slugging matches aren't your thing.

@Simpli

Do the carbines of dragoons count as close range weapons? Do they benefit from bonuses to smoothbore muskets?

How about the pistols of heavy cavalry? Are they considered close range or melee weapons? Do they benefit from bonuses to smoothbore muskets?

Yes they do and Yes they do ^^ Sorry for being ab it of silent on my side~

They are melee range weapons but depending on the enemies, they might allow the heavy cavalry to ignore some of their armour points to level the playing field.

Forgot to mention, the previous post I made has me having spoken to Maria, and then gone and talked to some of the Witches and compared what they remember the culture and the like having been. So the papers are a contrast between the 'Common' human and the magically blessed and how they perceived how the events happened.

Also a stop by the infirmary to see the Alchemist there, because Maria throws a mean Boot... though I think she actually meant to throw the knife in it, it's just I managed to annoy her enough she decided 'Screw getting the knife out, JUST SHUT UP AND GO AWAY!'

Having said that. Simpli, any idea how long it's going to be before you finalise the list and start writing the quest for loot, glory, and no deaths?

I second that, Simpli.
Also I would give much for workble firearm or missile option for the Amazons....

I meant in the Officer Corps... Much as I wish otherwise, the tale of Ivan's smoking break inside the powder store and poor Nikolai's 'sudden' discovery of that fact before the 3rd 'Far Reaches' were demobilised proves that not every enlisted or conscript can be trusted to tie their shoes, let alone be in proximity of things like 'gunpowder', 'explosives' and 'weapons'... or even such a simple thing as 'fire'.

Poor, unfortunate Nikolai was such a good Comrade to his men, even though he was a noble and an officer and they were peasants... at best. (and yes, that is an inside joke, as some of the other people in this quest should know :p)

And even with that restriction, and excluding death from actually natural causes, including accidents and excluding disease (that's not natural causes... that's either sloppy planning, or unfortunate events), I doubt we'll manage it... Some Officers should not only not be trusted to tie their shoe laces, they don't even know shoe laces need to be tied...

Russian army and no death does not go in the same sentence

Note this comment CommanderBlade:

I can't tell if my Caucus scout regiment is any decent or not. Ima confused.
Yours is good in a fight, but there's more to a regiment than just straight up combat.

Yours is able to scout, flank the enemy, and lay down streets and forts, for instance. I'd say it's versatile. Just don't be reckless and you'll be fine.

Ditto with my regiment. I'm currently in hour 25 without any sleep so I am not in a position to do the math and such, right now I'm barely capable of thought.

Luckily I have a nice two hour lecture on contemporary politics in Latin America to sit through, so I've got that going for me

Well: the first six vic--- uhmm....adventurers are now listed at the first page of the IC Thread and Gideon is sure to post his Regiments as soon as he has time. I already started writing the introduction to your mission through the portal...now just need to finish that maybe after my meeting in the afternoon, so the IC Thread might be open this evening or tomorrow~

Edit:
And don't worry about dying...I know that might be annoying and might make you give up on this RP...as such I'm planning to slowly release new Regiment types as the Game Progresses~ And depending on how well things work we might even raise the player number~ But no promises for now.

I live,
I die,
I live again!

Seriously though, I imagine that if I die I'll probably just kick back onto the waiting list. The setting has me intrigued to see where it is going.
