Rising in the East (OOC)

Earth witches ensure trench-style warfare. Get multiple layers of trenches for best effect.

The only ways to beat it are:
1. Overwhelming numbers
2. Tanks
3. Flanking/encircling maneuvers
4. Artillery
5. Running out of supplies

Well with earth witches we can make trenches to the enemy trenches, making CQC viable, I talked about doing it with 2nd chancers against artillery.

No. 2 is bestest option, followed by No. 3 and No. 4 working in tandem followed by No. 1. :D

One could always bypass the trench entirely and attack somewhere else, keeping some soldiers around to keep the trench occupied.

Another question: Line Infantry with Rifled Muskets attack from medium range once, before closing in, correct?

What about Light Infantry? Do they have to close in as well?

@Simpli can we do some sidestories here for fun as long as it is related to the quest? I'm writing a slice of life chapter where my character is doing a snap inspection of her new regiment.

Also, thank you for this wonderful quest, I'm now starting to read on Imperial Russian Military History and Napoleonic Warfare with a side dish of Trenches. :)

I assumed that would be done in game a bit.

Like one of my first actions will be reorganizing my regiment, so that I have a "Special Forces" company.

My 250 best in one company, given a mark of honor for there skill (so others have something to strive for).

Who no longer have ANY duties other than training and fighting, and putting all the best together means, the best swordsman, the best marksman, the best alchemist are all there to teach them and improve them.

Mechanically, I hope to in time get them to have a CR bonus, or a bonus to hero actions when I use them in my heroic actions.

However that will be a big slice of life and modern tactics and organization thing which I will write out, not falling strictly into turn or normal mechanics.

You can post it in here, but as Zedalb said snippets like this are also wonderful to be weaved into your turn progress...so you could save them or post them here, both are fine by me. Also....the more you write the more I will try to write to match you and if your snippets are particularly nice you might end up with a small bonus here and there~

Way to late to apply this way, but could a Witch Become an officer?

@Simpli So if we (The waiting list) do some omakes or the like, it might benefit the expedition or unlock new things to include in Regimental Creation that the Expedition can acquire?

Colonel Ivan Reznov walked down his Regiment who where formed on the Parade grounds. He inspected his men. Each man was at attention. The first Company was made of men who where the most senor troops in the Regiment. With their Company being nicknamed the old breed. In the far back where some of the greenest soldiers but still battle hardened vets. Ivan gives bark of URUH which is echoed by the Regiment. He calls several rifle drills. Like right shoulder, left shoulder, Fix bayonets, charge Bayonets. From there Ivan leads them into combat drills. He has them do bayonet fighting with each other to get them back into the mind frame. After wards he has them practice volley fire and ect.

On the other side of the place the 21st Foreign Artillery. Their Regiment Commander was making sure they where familiar with the equipment. Which they where actually decent at. Although they all spoke a different language. They where scared of the forest and couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. Although they made it up with by being decent with the Artillery. But they also where scared of witches which where apart of the Regiment. Although Danny did manage to get some Priests to join the Regiment. He also had some Spy balloons. Although there was another negative which came in the form of Nicholas Petronko. Who was a unbearable twat that just sits on his high horse sipping on expensive wine. Danny starts walking up and down the batterys.

Wikipedia's got you covered. It looked like everyone was going with the English/French titles, but Gideon's units are all listed with polkovniks.

I meant more of what rank we should be, and what rank our subordinates would be.

I for one said a rank with my name, and no one corrected me, however it seems our commander and I now share a rank, so I don't think that is quite correct.

*Regards the supposed General-Leitenant suspiciously*

I would have remembered seeing your face at one of the parties held in Moscow.
