Quest Idea Thread

I got another based on a Fanfiction Idea I had.

The 4 Cardinal Heroes

So it's a Shield Hero one, but here's where it gets different.
The 4 summoned (To emphasize, not JUST the Shield Hero.) are all different people then Canon.
I had my own original idea for who the 4 would be, but I'm going to suggest that you all Either jack 4 characters from various series (A reminder that in the actual story, the 4 are from different Earths/Dimensions to begin with, so I think any Character is fair game.) Such as Batman, Metal Gear Solid, Suikoden, etc. Alternatively you could also just create characters from scratch, and given the multiversal nature of the summoning even in canon, you could do some truly unhinged choices. Or a mix of both, maybe you want OCs but also Batman.

You can try to stick to the canon as close as you want, or you can compltely derail everything.

But the idea behind this is summoning 4 characters who are going to work together, albeit begrudglingly due to circumstances.

Here's an idea I had for a soviet cold war naval design bureau quest

essentially it'd be a villain quest in where you would design a super weapon each time and the retrospective would be about how it was stolen by rouge elements or some system was sabotaged and it gets blown up
basically in the vein of The Hunt For Red October and books similar to it

here's a write up of how the first chapter would go for the Red October

June 1976

The first of the Akula Class (project 941) has just been laid down and the Soviet Admiralty has funded a study into how to improve on the design by making it more capable of first strike type attacks through quieting the drive system in some way. Because of information discovered by the KGB through the Walker spy ring, current soviet missile submarines are deemed to be insufficiently quiet, and are often being tracked by American sub forces, new and experimental propulsion types are green lit to be considered.

The new design is named the project 941M and will use the currently under production Akula class hull with new quieting technology
the options are as follows:

The project 941 is a large vessel and because of that size could benefit from a Magnetohydrodynamic drive which uses magnetic fields to accelerate water through the vessel which would propel it forwards, by using no moving parts, this option may provide high amount of noise cancellation and with the high amount of power the Nuclear reactor provides could be feasible.

Alternatively, a Natural Circulation reactor would use few pumps and instead rely on gravity based convection for coolant to flow through the reactor, this would be much quieter than current reactor designs but may have problems with reactor plan density and thus power generation.

The last option would be to use internal impellers to have water accelerated through a set of tubes essentially like a jet engine, this would prevent cavitation (disturbances in the water) until higher speeds which would be quieter than current propeller technology.

the options are ranked from most technologically challenging to least
[ ] Magnetohydrodynamic drive (Caterpillar drive- canon to the movie)
[ ] Natural Circulation Reactor (similar to the one off USS Narwhal)
[ ] internal impellers (canon to the book - basically a pump jet but internal)
[JK] could you launch missiles out of those tubes?
---- sure, but why would you want to?

basically I got this idea after playing a few quests here and I'm personally very interested in submarines and naval designs, so I figured a submarine design quest may be interesting
the original idea was to design either the us or soviet submarine navy from either the Nautilus or November classes onwards with maybe a focus on special project boats like the USS Halibut or the Mike class
but I figured 80s style projects like Star Wars may be more interesting
I could diversify from ships and instead do things like lasers but ships are really what I know best
It'd be the Soviet Union because that's who makes these designs in books I've read and there are a lot of Soviet Union quests here on SV
problems im having
1 - I need to come up with more stages of design
2 - I'm worried that having the design blow up every time would get boring - but the designs nature as a super weapon would make it so that thematically I think it would have to (maybe not?)
3 - by this point of the Cold War the soviets are going to collapse so you might get less designs so I may have to come up with an au
(successful Ultra-visionary socialists from TNO would probably fund projects like this)
4- I need to come up with more super weapons

I may do this or not - who knows at this point its just an idea

This is an idea i have for a time, before reading this i will put this disclaimer: i do NOT hate pyrra nikos, i just thought this will be a funny concept for a quest to run

Quest Description
After so much practice, dedication, and training, you lost the finals of the tournament against the champion of Mistral, Pyrrha Nikos. But somehow, this loss has given you something new—a semblance unlike any other. A strange one that lets you see stats and skills. But no matter. Maybe it will help you.

You lost...

Again. And worse, this time.

Yet somehow, you thought things will be good for you. You unlocked your aura. You felt the training had finally shown results. You even won some spars at the academy. You fought with wit and sweat against different opponents, winning multiple matches. Everything seemed perfect. You thought, just this once, things might go your way.

But unfortunately, your final match was against Pyrrha Nikos. Worse still—she destroyed you. It was devastating. No matter what strategy you tried, she countered it effortlessly. It was like fighting a human wall—a wall you simply couldn't break through.

After the fight, sitting in the stalls in the lockers, lost in thought about how badly you felt, a screen suddenly appeared:

[Semblance Unlocked]
[Semblance Name: ______]

You stared at the glowing screen, wondering if you were imagining things. You pinched your arm, but the sharp pain and the continued glow of the screen made it clear—it was real.

Maybe you gained it after the fight? You'd heard of semblances sometimes unlocked itself when a Hunter needed them the most. Perhaps it was triggered when Pyrrha beat you... or maybe it was when.....

Down on the floor, with your whole body aching, you felt humiliated beyond anything you'd ever experienced before. For the first time, you started thinking about giving up—on fighting, on Grimm, on being a Hunter. Maybe you should do something else.

"Here, let me help you up," said Pyrrha, smiling at you as she extended her hand.

You were never a people person, but you could tell things about others. As you looked at her, you realized—no, you knew—that something in that smile was fake. And in that moment, something inside you broke.

You decided to
:

[]: Angrily Slap Her Hand Away

Your fighting style has always been erratic, relying on any tactic or item to win—pocket sand, targeting vital spots—whatever it takes. You always find ways to win.
  • Active: You gain skills that specifically counter other people's semblances.
  • Passive: You gain passive skills that make it easier to defeat people, varying depending on the opponent you've beaten.

[]: Passively Grab Her Hand

Since you were young, you've always analyzed your opponents, whether Grimm or humans. You study their motives, abilities, actions, advantages, and disadvantages. You win by adapting to them, fighting or otherwise.
  • Active: You manifest a weapon of light based on the person you're fighting. Over time, you learn their fighting style and grow stronger.
  • Passive: You gain a skill tied to the traits of a person you've defeated. As time passes, you develop a bond that feels almost like friendship.

[]: Neutrally Stand and Walk Away

You've always struggled to learn how to fight. Unable to adapt or master any single style, you resorted to copying your opponents—whether Grimm or humans. Your style is erratic, like a Swiss Army knife: versatile but inconsistent.
  • Active: You gain a skill that copies your opponent's semblance. It starts at level 1 and may be weak, but over time, you can use it more effectively.
  • Passive: You can imitate a person's behavior. At low levels, it's limited to mimicking mannerisms, but as you grow stronger, you can replicate them so perfectly that people might mistake you for them.

It all made sense now. Your crushing defeat, the humiliation, and Pyrrha's treatment of you had somehow unlocked your semblance.

With this... this power...

You could defeat Pyrrha Nikos!

Hi to you all i been having this idea for a while and decided to post it here, Maybe it wil be an art quest, maybe it will be a regular quest with some art aside, who knows. There would be another post if i picked this that, if you wish you could also interact from character from other series, aside from Rwby, thins related to Roster Teetch, Warner, etc.

Honestly speaking this final draft is different of what i originally thought, but i am happy with it.

And Before, someone asks, NO i don't hate Pyrra nikos, she is one of my favorite character in RWBY and she is super nice and strong. This was created as an idea about a character trying to antagonize pyrrah and failing because people would thought he was a jerk lol.

Like those classical comics villains that are created when a hero does something that ticks them in the wrong way. But hey as time passes maybe this MC, will be a more like an ally, of course it will depends of the actions people pick the MC to do, If i finally launch this.

Thanks for reading bye.

"A girl is Arya Stark of Winterfell, and I'm going Home."

This would make a good Arya quest title. Frankly, we see too many Baratheons and Targaryens. It would be nice to read a determined and clever girl trick, lie and murder her way home from her escape of the redkeep onward. Extra points if the canon route isn't provided as an option.

Alright here's more of the ideas I had, this is gonna be a chunk since.........they all kinda follow the same idea. Or More Precisely, Character.
Welcome the the Big Boss Isekai Adventures list.
I already suggested Star Wars, here's even more.

What if Big Boss was Summoned/Transmigrated/Reincarnated (There's a few fun things people could do with Reincarnating him instead.) to; Warhammer Fantasy (Heck given Dogs of War are a thing, he can just do that.)
Onimusha
Mass Effect
Shield Hero
Dragon Age (Lot of War Present, easy for him to fit in after he adapts to all the fantasy stuff.)
Suikoden (Given War is kinda the focus of this series and mercenaries are a thing, this one could be real good.)
Game of Thrones (Imagine Westeros, Essos, and everywhere else reacting to a Mercenary Group that has a moral compass and is super competent.)
Warcraft
Fire Emblem (Pick a setting, they all work.)
7 Days to Die or Any other Zombie Setting
Shadow Hearts

Rebuild MSF/Diamond Dogs/Outer Heaven or build something new, make decisions on recruitment, building you're base out, interact with the various peoples of the worlds for more info and tech, etc.

It's like the Majima Everywhere System, except it's Quests, and instead of a single person he's stalking, it's all the settings.
My writing is terrible, so here we are again.

Ok that's kind of majority of my insane ideas. I got 2 more (At this moment.) but I want to space these out (I promise the last 2 aren't just The Multiversal Adventures of Big Boss.).

So a buddy of mine talked to me and I thought.

we've all seen Cyberpunk 2077 quests where we are the badass mercenary. the gangster, or the doc. or the self insert who has the gamer quest. or the super hero.

What if you were the gunsmith and armorer instead?

You are the guy who makes and supplies firearms, armor, and other weapons for your clientele and depending on their quality, help them survive and build a reputation as the premier badass arms guy in Night city.

Would anyone want to see that kind of quest?

Isn't that what the main guy in The Path Unending is doing? He's in training, sure, but he's like a magic blacksmith type?
I haven't seen anyone make it for cyberpunk, so... why not try that? but being purely craftsman based. rather then having it be a main job and a side job being a merc.

So you have to deal with corperations trying to sue you for patent or copyright infringement. NCPD thinking your doing some shady shit.

Mercs blaming you for their poor choices during an op, and so on.

Cyberpunk Craftsman Quest:
You always loved discovering how things worked. Those moments, hunched over a piece of machinery or a circuit board, were the only times you felt truly alive. It was simple, almost meditative. Take something apart, figure out its components, and understand the precision needed to make it function. Then put it back together, better, stronger, faster. Something special. Something uniquely yours.

That was how you learned. Not from school, with its drudgery of rote memorization, outdated textbooks, and a failing public education system that seemed more interested in churning out obedient workers than fostering creativity. Math, literature, reading comprehension—it all felt like static noise compared to the hum of a soldering iron or the satisfying click of components snapping into place.

It wasn't the theory of things that called to you; it was the making. Building useful gadgets out of scrap or hacking together toys that shouldn't have worked but somehow did. That was when you knew: this wasn't just a hobby. It was your calling.

In Night City, people like you were called Techies. Depending on who you asked, it was either an affectionate term for those who made life bearable in this chrome-and-neon jungle, or a dismissive label for the gearheads who tinkered in dark corners, forgotten by the rest of the world. Either way, you made things work.

Techies kept the Megabuildings running, those sprawling vertical cities within cities that housed everything from corporate elites to the poorest gutter rats. They ensured the lights stayed on, the water flowed, and the trash didn't pile up too high. And all the other things

Techies kept the mercs alive too. Whether it was fixing their cyberware, tuning their weapons, or crafting armor that might just let them survive a firefight, you were the one they turned to. In your case, you weren't just patching up gear, you were arming them, outfitting them to stand toe-to-toe with nightmares like Adam Smasher himself.

Of course, you also gave them the illusion that they might actually walk away afterward. That was the cruel beauty of Night City:

Hope was the most dangerous drug, and you were its dealer.

But dreams don't come cheap in Night City. Every choice carried a price, and you were still figuring out how much you were willing to pay. For now, you just kept building. Kept dreaming. Kept surviving. Because here, that's all anyone could do.

Who are you?:

[]Name

I would. But preferably set in 2021 or around there.

It would give more to work with.
You say that, but I have 5 start dates.

Three of them are in the 2070's.

But the first one was in 2013... then in 2020, where we can be part of the corporate wars and Johnny Silverhands final hurrah.

2045 might also be interesting. Night City's rebuilding, and while the corps are coming back, Arasaka and Militech are still licking their chops to a degree. Good place to start if you want to try to become a mover and shaker before 2077, but don't want to deal with the fourth Corporate war.

Also, were you planning on using RED's fabrication rules? Because on one hand, being able to build anything from hoverboards to full body prosthetics in a cave with a box of scraps is pretty cool, but you might want something more, uh, structured for a quest.

I already have a plan for some start dates and I'm sticking fully to arms and armor for developing the entire fabrication system for.

Other stuff I'm just going to use dice rolls for because as much as I love reds fabrication system….

It's a bit to much for me, to try and use that I find fun. And make it fun for other people.

So I am kinda torn between working on 3 ideas for a quest and I want to know people's interests:

  1. HUMANITY MUST NOT FALL - Age of Strife Planquest inspired by Frostpunk 2 mechanics
    • Twilight of the divine - see the twilight of the Sea of Souls and brace your sliver of humanity for the coming of Ę̲̱͔̟̺̖͚̿ͣ̑ͦ̇̌̃͊ͯ̑̔̇̾̋͞X̻͆̃̚C̸̷̶̮̦͎͖͓͈͙͉͖͔̫̯͈̒̓̏ͮ͐͆̎̂ͫ̑ͥͯ̃ͮ̏ͥͧ̚̕͜͠͠͡ͅȨ̷̢̛̙͔̬̖̜̜͚̗̥̮̹͈̥͇͕̞͚͚̉͒́ͥ̋̆̑͑͗ͪ̿͌̐̾̀͋̔͠ͅS̷̴̸̢̢̢̟̣̜̭̺̣̱̤̝̩̲̙̙͚̗̥̪͐́͛͌ͬ̅ͫ̑ͨ͑̾ͭ̈͒͢͢͞ͅS̸̸̸̷̝͎͇̥̼̠̹̼͉̺̣̥͙͑̿́͗̒ͬ͐͜͜͜
    • Downfall of Man - fight against the Decay and try to preserve and adapt chunks of technology needed for your survival
    • Broken Gates - see nightmares of the War in Heaven and Iron Wars burn the survivors and stand against them as they run rampant in a galaxy without protectors
    • First Psychic Awakening - deal with one of the nails in the coffins of the DAOT one way or the other
  2. In the hearts of darkness - Cabal quest in the Commoragh following the birth of Slaaneash
    • Embers of Dominion - search for the relics of the days past in the Dark City without end
    • Noose or the leash - deal with the pull of she who thirsts as it demands the pain of others for delaying your doom
    • Evernight of Knives - try to survive the politics of the city drowned in blood and poison
  3. Desperate times call for Desperate mortals - 40k x Worm crossover
    • Being Taylor is dread - start as Taylor on Earth Bet* and prepare for coming into 40k
    • Divine intervention - instead of Queen Administrator, one of "dead"(or Isha) Aeldari gods is your patron
    • There is always an escalation - Chaos is comming if you want or not
I will answer questions and I want to reserve the right to change titles

So for scale for the worm crossover:

Endbringers are weak to medium C'tan shards and Avatar of Khaine can fight them as equal. And yes, they are corruptable by chaos if it is lucky enough

  1. In the hearts of darkness - Cabal quest in the Commoragh following the birth of Slaaneash

This looks neat, would it be starting immediately after Slaanesh's birth or a little while after and do you have anything in mind for the mc yet?

It would be a part of character/cabal creation, but for example, the higher in social strata you are, the lower your starting character's potential in general. Starting as a slave, not even a former one, is Vect potential. With maximum starting strata being just an minor noble who was in his summer home when all things went to shit

Basically, in character creation, the harder the start and gameplay, the better the rewards (Generally I want to reward players for roleplaying/thematic plans), for example, if players take a specific set of starting traits your cabal starts with Soulstones making your suffering upkeep much lower/zero until you expand, which would unlock some interesting things like showing off to your rivals by starving them of background suffering while hosting negotiations.

Was watching a program on the last of the Russian Tsars, had an idea for a quest.

You've been iesaked into the heir of a backwards nation, suffering from severe class divide, etc etc. Your father is dead (probably poison) and now you have to take the reins! Will you drag your nation into the future, or be the cause of a revolution that ends your dynasty's rule forever?

The twist is that the players read the outcome of their actions through a historical documentary about their rule

Ok, so this requires some explanation ahead of time otherwise I might lose some of you (And as promised, no Big Boss this time...........For Now.)

A Crossover of Shadow Hearts (And by Extension Koudelka given it's actually the first game in that series.) and The Suffering.
But Warboss Aohd you may ask, why SPECIFICALLY those 2?
I'm glad you asked voice in my head.

Both have a WEIRD amount of Overlap that I think is just FIT to be utilized in a Quest.

Let's go over them.
Both Take Place on Earth.
Both have Malice being seeped into locations to the point of twisting People and Animals, and even the spirits of the Dead, to Spawn Monsters.
Both have Protagonists who can turn into Monsters (Indeed this was one of the cruxes of the idea, along with the Malice point, as I read a theory that Torque (Protagonist of The Suffering games.) (Also by extension one other prisoner in 1, who wrote all the notes you find in the first game.) was a Semi-Awakened Harmonixer (What the Protagonist of the First Shadow Hearts games (Not counting Koudelka obviously.) is, which is someone who can absorb the souls of Monsters, Demons, and other such beings in order to transform. Both variations of transformation are said to affect the psyche and risk the user going insane and perma turn into a monster.
Alot of Overlap here.

Alot of to work with ain't there?

You could easily follow Torque (Maybe starting with the first game, maybe after 2 (Which means you'd have to pick the canon endings of both.).) as he learns more about Malice and Harmonixers. Alternatively, you could follow a Descendant of Koudelkda or Yuri Hyuga (Or Hell, maybe Johnny Garland. Not that he has knowledge of Harmonixer, but he DOES of Malice.......and knows someone else who can do something similar in Shania.) (Those games took place between the 2 World Wars unlike The Suffering.).

So there's plenty to play with for both the Writer and Questers alike.
