Putting the Craft in Warcraft

I'm going to note, that I'm already writing the update based off Shiny. Don't worry, you got something to cobble together with that, so you are fine.

As for Dragon Soul, that's a big thing that takes a LOOOONG time to get used into. You got something off it, but not much.

Okay then

Given that you're voting in such a way that supports your statement to "fuck da police" it's not exactly sarcasm.
There are a distinct lack of options to vote for if you haven`t noticed. I simply want to fascilitate discussion on other options through continued threat of Wayland being tortured :D

But ok, let`s be serious for a moment here. Is it so hard to give people the benefit of the doubt and not to assume they are drooling morons incapable of understanding what they are voting for? Let`s assume people do not think I`m a drooling moron and actually think I can rub two brain cells together. Then they must think that I want Wayland to be tortured. But given that I never expressed anything of the like since I joined this thread this is a bit of a stretch. If only people gave others some benefit of the doubt first. Oh well.

... Are you new to forum quests by any chance?

Blatantly stupid votes that amount to "for the lulz" and "Meh, I'm just voting what everyone else is" to "lets get shit as fucked up as I can by voting stupidly" are sadly very much a thing. In fact they happen at such regular intervals that I have yet to go a single week on these boards without spotting one.

So yes, it is very hard to give people the benefit of the doubt in this area.

What Leoric said.

To be Fair, TOS's wording was uncalled for. But his stance isn't an unreasonable one

So.... Thorium is good against Magic? Could we make an anti-Magic cap or something for the Life-Dragon to protect her from the Dragon-Controlling rock?

I once put forward magic draining Carbon Thorium alloyed chains since Lost Star did say that it was doable*.

We will still need to research it but the concept was ignored for just outright Studying and turning off the Dragon Soul

*Even if it may not have been enough in and of itself to break the chains.

I would wait longer, but I know how people are with Shinies. Keep in mind that this is only the first step.

[x] Study Dragon Soul

You are probably the only one that feels how oppressive the atmosphere has gotten. The presence of the dragons and the eggs is a weight on your soul, and as the eggs grow at an unnatural rate, you dread the future. Orcs with Dragons? You wonder a bit if you are going to be imprisoned forever because of them.

You bury that feeling in work. You use your small amount of authority to work the Warlocks as much as you possibly can. This is a long shot by all accounts, but something gives you the feeling that this is important.

Not the Fel Magic, as horrible as it is. The consuming of souls is nothing you would ever want to do. But there is something hidden in these interactions. Something that you can possibly tease out.

Nothing like what Doomhammer wants. You aren't even certain that it's possible. Though you wouldn't do it even if you could. There is a limit to how far you will assist the Orcs.

So you push the Warlocks deeper into the manipulation of the soul. Into things they barely studied, and most certainly didn't care much about. A tangent useful for you, and just barely tolerated by them. Manipulating un-manifested spirits is a very delicate art. And as you study it, you don't think it's even related to Fel Magic at all.

Soul Art, as in manipulation of the soul, is a spiritual magic. Something that crosses most magical disciplines. All of them sort of verge on it in different ways. The light in particular is capable of reaching into this area, but in a far different way. The spell resurrection takes the soul and gently repairs the body if the person's spirit is still around.

Somehow this makes what the Warlocks do even worse. Where the Light does a gentle reach towards life, a Warlock rips out the soul and subjects it to horrible pain.

Somehow you are able to force yourself to continue working with them with that realization. And eventually come across something moderately useful, and something that you end up giving to Mr Dampgear to justify the time and work you've done on the task. It's as safe as you can think of, and of only moderate use for Orcs in general, since their Warlocks eat souls for power.

It's the sketch to an enchantment. Soul Bind, you call it. Optimally it can be used to interact with un-manifested spirits. Place it on a sword, and the thing will keep any spirits in reality. Put it on chains, and you can theoretically keep a spirit around. Though to be honest, that last one is theoretical, and will likely require a continuous power source.

It's enough to get you some free time to rest and get away from the oppressive atmosphere. And study the Dragon Soul more thoroughly.

With your new eye you can examine it even better, and you are honestly both impressed and horrified by it. Alexstrasza wasn't kidding about how it was built. You can see fragments of souls inside it. And so much power that if it's unleashed wrong, the entire mountain will go up.

There are so many different things bound and wound in the item that you are fairly certain you could spend years looking it over.

Ultimately though, that's not your goal. The goal is to break it's binding on the dragon.

You get an idea of what it's doing after after a long while of studying. Furtive studying in the dead of night. Painstaking, and as secret as you can make it. Which slows you down to a crawl.

But you have an idea of what it's doing. It's feeding off Alexstrasza, and using that very same magic to bind her. It's like she's holding herself down. Which makes sense you think. She's not displayed any sort of magic or power that she says she has. That's because it's all folding back against her. Negating everything.

This gives you a possible solution. Or rather a possible idea. You just need to figure out the best way to leverage it back. Right now her power is completely tied in on itself. Something to tip the scales would be able to do it.

But you don't know HOW.

And you are out of time now. The end of the project comes along, and you there as the eggs hatch. Tiny dragons. Welps. Each one immediately chained, and then whipped when they try to bite.

You watch with a sort of horrified paralysis.

Mr Dampgear isn't as effected. "All right, this next part is really going to be a main part. We need to get harnesses designed. These dragons are going to be used as mounts."

"They are livin' breathin' intelligent things." You breath out, as you watch a Welp burst out of it's egg, and then get slapped down by an Orc.

It's neck snaps under the strain, and the Orc gives a grunt as he kicks the tiny body to the side.

Alexstrasza is catatonic. You aren't certain that it's from rage or despair. But if your feelings are even a fraction of what she has, you can't imagine it.

"Yeah, and they are worth gold too. Maybe you can see about recycling the skins. Hear dragon skin is good for armor." Mr Dampgear shrugs.

"What?" You turn to him, and are surprised by the flash of hate.

"Hey, don't give me that look. You think you can stop it?" The goblin raises an eyebrow. "You are welcome to try. I'll be certain you aren't killed."

You swallow as you watch an Orc kick over an egg that hasn't hatched yet. The thing breaks open and a sickly looking welp crawls out.

"Give me that one." It's a desperate ploy. "It's too small for them, but you need harnesses right? I need something to base off. A miniature."

"All right." Mr Dampgear isn't fooled really, you can tell. But he's willing to play along. "Hey, bring that weak one over here!"

A grunt gives a noise of dissatisfaction, but picks up the welp. It tries to bite him, but the teeth don't even penentrate the glove he's wearing.

The thing does the same to you when you take it. But you don't mind really. Instead you carry it into the workshop, and set it down nearby the fire. And slump to the side and cry.

For a long while you are left alone. The welp's sickly cries going through the workshop, and that last bit of horror going through your head.

Guivzi's entrance makes you look up. She rolls her eyes at you and sets a big plate of bloody meat in front of the small whelp. The thing immediately tears into the stuff, and she watches it for a moment. Then she takes out a potion, and pours it onto the meat. The dragon doesn't even notice.

"Suck it up." She says as she watches the whelp. "This isn't even the worst they could have done."

You don't say anything, but take a deep breath and close your eyes.

"Huh, you are a greedy little thing aren't you." The Goblin Girl mutters to the dragon whelp. "Go ahead, and eat up then. It's going to be fine by the way. The quick growth they use has a horrible attrition rate, but that's from malnutrition. A bit of tending, and it's negated."

"And you are helpin' them with that?" You aren't able to stop that slipping out of your mouth.

"Hah! They didn't even think of asking me. Couldn't afford the price anyway. It's fine for this little one, but for what they are doing, they would need buckets of the stuff." Guivzi snorts. "Honestly though, the ones dying are the lucky ones. Orc's methods of breaking things involves whips and pain."

"If you are trying to make me feel better you aren't helping." You mutter.

"Good, anger will help you live." The goblin girl gets to her feet and brushes off her hands. "I'll tend to your little pet. Dad said that your job is going to be working on harnesses for the foreseeable future. My suggestion? Design something that would protect the mount, and let the rider keep atop it. The orcs won't care if the rider gets killed from damage."

Going to be a bit of a time skip. There are five years between the first and second war just so you know the timeframe you are working in. In the meantime, Wayland's not going to be happy. Prioritize the following as his priorities, and give the idea of what you want to do with the harness. Just as an FYI, Wayland's going to be working almost constantly on Dragon harnesses. So leatherworking is going to 125.

Also this makes me regret not pushing harder for the Magic Draining Chains idea

Also I don't understand the vote all that much

Whatever we do, we need to increase all of our skills. We have been here for almost a year already and all our skills just barely increased. If we want to forge a legendary artifact to free the dragons we are gonna need to be a hell of a lot better than we are now.

Five years of timeskipping.
1 year actually

We want to increase our relevant skills and get the prerequisites.

You don't need Leatherworking when making a chainmail for example and improving it to make a Legendary Chainmail is useless.

On the other hand we still need some Magic Stuff to work with since Alexztrasza's Rage seems more like a pure Magic Artifact than anything else

[x] Design a harness, Similar to the War Horses that can connect to a harness attached to the orc to prevent them from falling. Meanwhile develop plates that can protect delicate places like the underbelly, the sides, the face, the legs, and the claws.

:V You might want to put the numbers in just in case

At any rate any idea on breaking the chains.

There's

Turn Off the Dragon Soul
Take Some of Alexztraza's power (or it's origin). and use it to break teh chains
Magic draining the chains so it's output is slightly less than Alexztraza's capabilities

Could have worded it better. Let me try again. We need to dedicate some time to increase the skills that will help us to forge the legendary artifact. Pure experimenting is just not going to cut it anymore since no matter what we experiment on in this past year our skills barely gone up at all so we need to come up with some kind of alternative to increase them some other way even though I kind of have no clue how.
