Puella Magica Somniabunt Sanguinis [PMMM/Bloodborne]

If only you picked the Gold gem, or even Embrace...

Sad plant noises just aren't the same as puppy eyes and some plaintive whimpers. You could have had headpats. Headpats!
We needed some Human dammit! And what's the point in being a cute eldritch Flower if you're not going to be a cute eldritch flower.

I'm hoping we can pink up more Runes/Marks later as well. Considering they're the written form of... how did it go again? The guy who made them studied in Oedon Chapel or something and he wrote down the Whispers into a physical form and those are Runes. Or something like that. *Shrug* Should be possible to get more, although not easy probably. And we might need to rip them out of someone's brain or something after we Whispered to them about it or something.

I dunno, I'm pretty excited for sad plant noises.

I don't think Homera would leave. We're an asset against Wallawallabigbang, and we're non-hostile. She's going to want us around regardless of our...helpful nature.

You forgot shipping, but that's pretty close.

[x] The host is exhausted, and will likely return to Dreamless sleep. If we are to assist The Host, we should begin immediately.
-[x] Vines and flowers outside the room and the window for perception?
--[x] While we have a quiet moment in this Cold, Sharp Place a moment of introspection on our state? We have Purpose, now. Even if we can't go back to the Life we Had, there is a Life here with The Host waiting for us. We should think about how we can be useful.

Since, technically Ruby's hands can unwind into a lot of small tendrils, if someone is willing to sit still (and doesn't mind a bit of tickling), Ruby could techincally hold hands while simultaniously hugging someone.

QM note: Now, do I make her fine tendrils fluffy and sensitive or not...hmmm

What's this? Two of my favorite series, adorable eldritch flower beings, and potential for both feels and humor? Sold.

So how about that bandwagon?

So, before we jump into our first Witch's barrier and discover belatedly that our favourite stabbing stick is all the way back in our native Dream, what kind of stuff can Ruby actually do?

I mean, we know that she's been formally trained with a blade and can unravel into plant mass, but being an eldritch horror leaves a lot of wiggle room between (and beyond) 'glowy flower hug' and 'makes the Catachan deep jungle look comparatively harmless'. You mentioned as well that she can pass for a magical girl, so does that mean a summoned weapon is on the cards? Do we get any magical attacks at all?

Well, she is a Great One, so she should be able to do at least a little bit of magic. Considering her Cainhurst lineage, Lady Maria's abilities might be on the table, and her eldritch nature means she should be able to throw around arcane energies as well. And that's ignoring the simple tactic of crushing her enemies with vine-tentacles.

I think Homura will keep her around for several reasons.

She is NEW, and nothing has been new for her for an unknown length of 'very long' time.
She, like everything else, is a possible tool against Walpurgisnacht.
And finally, her response to the Incubator appearing is to murder the everloving F*** out of it! Which of course means that they will get along just fine. (perceived threats to Madoka notwithstanding.)

But for now, let the adorifying misunderstandings continue.

I'm interpreting the bloodborne inventory system into dream-based things you possess being able to to be changed into any other dream-based thing else you possess, as long as it's relatively magic-inert. So that ring you have...well lets just say that there's going to be an equipment vote when you see Homu transform for the first time.

Planty see, planty do

As for actual powers, think of them as slightly more buff variants of what I described for the Hunter infusion. Mami-like tendrils (with the caveat that they must be connected to you at all times); regeneration (and health/magic absorption too, but don't use it too much if you don't want to go all Beserker Sayaka); cloning less powerful copies of you, which costs an eye each so you stay connected to them even if you're physically seperate; and last, but certainly not least, you have your extreme desperation/maximum murder mode, which is either COSMIC beamspam or murder-tendril spam enabled by tearing holes in space to reach the target(s), I haven't decided yet.

Updated the character sheet and dramatis personae, I'm going into campus to fill in some forms and meet up for a society meeting, so I'll be back to finish off my writing around 8-9 PM GMT.

Child of Blood - pt. 5
You do not speak after that exchange, but a compromise seems to have been reached. You will attempt to comfort her, and she will attempt to be comforted. Occasionally, you feel the faintest of shudders run through her, despite how she fights to hide it, and you wonder just how long it has been for her since she has allowed herself to be vulnerable like this.

A weight presses against you, as The Host finally succumbs to the weight that she carries, the cold, yearning sensation of her emotions dimming slowly, the pressure of it retreating until it is nothing more than the twinkling of some distant star.

Freed from her burdens, at least for a short while, her body uncoils, the tension that filled it even in the middle of your embrace melting away.

If that was the most that you could bring to The Host, a single night free from her torments, then you would be happy.

Not content though.

Nothing deserved to suffer as she had…well maybe those parasites, but you doubt that anything, even your Papa at his fullest wax, could do anything that might disrupt that awful sucking void that lay at the hearts of them.

All you could do was kill them, and that just wasn't enough.

No, the only way that you could do something of real worth here was to spite them. To undo their works, to make their previous victories as hollow and worthless as the victors themselves.

You can't go home, but at least here, there is a place for you.

You can remind The Host of what she once was, and help her to become it again. You can bring warmth and softness and light back into this barren, hollow world. You can keep the vermin from gnawing anything else away. Most of all, you can have a purpose to hold yourself together for, not drift apart until you don't even remember how to put yourself back together.

Here isn't home, but it could be, one day.

Until then, you will hurt, that is true, but at the very least, you should give your pain some meaning.
For a moment, you coil yourself tighter, up from the cosy loose state that the mingling warmth of you and The Host had eased you into. Briefly, you are a Princess, all elegant angles and perfect paleness, a kindly reflection of the world you find yourself in.

For that moment, your thoughts as clear as glass, despite the vegetal urge to sprawl, doze and luxuriate in the comfort of the moment pulling plaintively upon you.

You decide.

You are Ruby, and you are here to help.

For now, that means making sure that nobody disturbs The Host while she's sleeping.

Away from the little nest of stems and flowers that you have grown around the pair of you, little creepers grow, crossing the floors and the walls like you'd suddenly become a dowdy little fungus rather than a beautiful flower.

Little buds dot your tendrils, as if to pointedly inform any observer that you are most definitely not any kind of fungus. Some cooperate in pushing the door closed, ensuring that you will get at least some advanced warning should any intrude from that direction.

For a moment you visualize a very confused parasite nosing the door open only to be immediately fallen upon by barbed vines and thirsting roots. You don't laugh, because that might wake up The Host, but you do smile rather nastily, even while she sleepily nuzzles into you.

Your smile becomes a little less predatory as you are distracted by being treated like an overgrown pillow, and again you have to force yourself to be quiet as your tendrils poke out through the small gap in the window.

When you were told stories of the Eternal Ones, nobody ever mentioned that they could be this cute.

Fighting the growing urge to simply dissolve into the comfiness being inflicted upon you, you let your senses expand to take in the world outside this room.

Well, all of them but sight, of course. There were certain difficulties when it came to putting that on the end of a tendril, even if it was only risking a lecture from Mama about being wasteful with precious things.

You'd never thought you'd miss being scolded, but you wondered what you wouldn't give just to hear her voice again.

You hope The Host doesn't mind that the shoulder of her gown might be a little damp in the morning.

---
Tomorrow, The Host is going home. What are you doing, SV?

Follow her. Be a curious flower. I'm not sure what we'd ask about, probably why this and that is like this in her Dream. Which would be easy throw away questions.

Really both IC and OoC we're more waiting on Homura to start poking us to get the ball rolling. Or surprise Witch Barrier to make us go "Now Hold On One Gosh Darn Minute" about this being Reality and not a Dream.

That's the big ball of plot I have marked Interrogation in my notes, coming up after Homu gets discharged and either invites or is followed home by Ruby. Witch hunting is one of the options that happen after that it resolved.
