Can you guys atleast try to give Ariane something to work with?

Feel free to add anything.

I'm thinking about explaining further, that Mariko's mother in hospital (without revealing how exactly it happened, of course).
But, how Mariko reacts to the girls fussing about it, offering their condolescence or something?
Maybe ask Mariko beforehand?

[] Telepathy to Mariko, ask would she be okay if you reveal the nature of that family business - her mother's condition.

You could reaffirm things she might already know since it really is the best way to help Mariko right now. Continue to be a good friend to her. Make her feel welcome among our group. Be patient when she's feeling awkward and uncomfortable. Be the kind of friend that she can feel at ease around and trust.

These are things Ariane can definitely do while still respecting Mariko's private issues.

Edit: Tamiko asked for Ariane's help and she genuinely wants to help. So give her some advice.

That's definitely a good advice, I'm planning to remember it in the future.
But honestly, I don't see how it relevant right now.
In my opinion Ariane didn't ask for advice or feeling unsure about her capability to help Mariko.
Quite opposite, she gave advice to Tamiko, she's pushing her to reveal Mariko's situation.

...Of course my take on the situation can be terribly wrong.

I might've read it wrong.
Ariane's mostly annoyed by the way Tamiko appears to have kept her in the dark about the drastic and big way she's been helping Mariko out. (Mis)communication kills, you know.

Well, I never planned to make a secret out of it.
We needed to explain a situation to Kishy immediately, because otherwise she would definitely notice it the very next day, and who knows what she'll think about it.
Filling others in was much less urgent matter.

...I just wanted a nice relatively calm day to preserve Tamiko's mental powers for a talk with Kimiko. How naive I was...

Silly Shaseyu.

The ride never ends!

Chapter 2 - The day that no one wanted 22
[X] Telepathy to Ariane
-[X] Sorry about that? It's just really Mariko's family business, and I didn't want to make her uncomfortable sharing too much?
[X] Talk with everyone
-[X] Ariane just found out something we didn't really try to keep secret.
--[X] Due to some family business Mariko is going to stay over at my home.

'Uh, I wasn't really trying to put it off?' you send to Ariane after unsuccessfully trying to make a coherent and understandable sentence with a mouth full of pizza-flavored pineapple. 'I mean, I'm sorry about that, but it's just, well…' You trail off awkwardly, throwing another quick glance at everyone else in the room.

You're turning into quite the spectacle from the looks of it. And to be fair, you suppose the way Ariane is so intensely focused on you might be a bit weird to anyone looking. But besides that, 'Well, it's just really Mariko's family business. I didn't want to make her uncomfortable by sharing too much about her? Not without her permission.'

You watch Ariane's reaction to your explanation closely. At first it would appear that she wants nothing more than to argue against that, and to push further. You think she actually came quite close to doing that, if it wasn't for a small moment of doubt that then expands into closer consideration.

She stares at you, and behind the abnormally intense, almost all-seeing stare of hers, you can't be entirely sure what she's thinking. You much prefer the girl when she's her usual, happy go-lucky self.

'You're keeping a lot of other secrets here, right?' Ariane eventually asks, putting it quite bluntly. She throws herself back and gives Mariko a quick look. She doesn't elaborate any further.

'Kind of?' you offer to her. 'But, um…'

'A conversation for a later date? Father says that sometimes,'
Ariane mentions.

'Well, that and it probably being Mariko's decision to make,' you answer and shift your position to face everyone else. You'd say it's better to offer some form of explanation for them for the sudden show.

"Just in case you were wondering, and you totally were, Ariane kind of found out about something that… I hadn't really intended to keep as a secret, but hadn't really mentioned before," you announce, while rubbing your neck awkwardly. "But anyways, you see, Mariko…"

"To get it over with, I'm simply staying over at the hugger-in-chief here,"
Mariko says out loud, pointing at you and looking like she had been forced to swallow a whole lemon. "For 'how long' is for now. The reasons are due to some… issues back in my apartment. Really don't want to go into specifics, thank you very much."

You take a moment to consider what Mariko said, before nodding along. "Basically, what she said."

There's a moment of silence from Evelyn and Ami, who've yet to be brought into the loop one way or another, before the former opens her mouth. "Well, uh, I hope those issues can get fixed soon?" Evelyn offers, before realizing how it might have come off as. "Not that I'm against the arrangement, I mean, but-"

"No, I get what you mean, don't worry,"
Mariko explains. "Thanks."

You on the other hand fall into your thoughts again. it would certainly be nice to get Mariko's life in order, and back on track. But at the same time there's an ugly truth you're forced to confront... It's quite doubtful if this truly is something that can actually ever be fixed, much less soon.

"How long has it been?" Ami asks, looking quite curious, even if a bit skeptical of the arragement.

"Since yesterday," Mariko answers. "So there isn't much to talk about, given how it's all still being figured out."

So it's possible Mariko will have to stay somewhere for the foreseeable future. And come to think of it, what does this mean for the upcoming trip to Tokyo?

What do you do?

[] See this onversation to a proper conclusion.

[] Anyhow, with that out of the way... Let's talk about something else!

[] Write-in.

You have Ariane on your trail now :drevil:

Is Ariane jealous because Mariko gets more opportunities for Tamihugs? :V

I think I know what's going on with Ariane.

Remember how when we were getting Mariko talked into moving in and packed up and we drew a line on the questioning because it was considered going too far? Ariane's the kind of girl who wants the full details.

She's not a gossip or a busy body. She just doesn't belive in secrets being kept between friends. She might phrase it as trust or two-way relationships.
"To get it over with, I'm simply staying over at the hugger-in-chief here," Mariko says out loud
Thank for Mariko for our new title.

While it might be a mood killer, we should bring Mariko and Ariane in on the loop about the curse, given that Mariko witnessed it in action earlier.

Yay! :D

'You're keeping a lot of other secrets here, right?'
"I've forgotten more secrets than you'll ever know!" :V
Let's try to remember:
1) Kimiko - Mariko and Kishi knows we have a sister, that's all;
2) Kishi's robotness - only we and Kishi herself in the know;
3) Mariko's home situation - only we and Mariko in the know, others now know she live with us;
4) Yuujin and Matsuko megucaness - only we and Ami in the know;
5) the Curse - only Mariko and Ariane don't know.
Any other secrets I forgot?

So, my plans:
- play and talk more (Uncle wanted us to relax, so grind your teeth and relax, damnit!);
- go home with Mariko and Ariane to fill them in on the Curse;
- homework, books, something-something;
- call Kimiko.

[X] See this сonversation to a proper conclusion.
-[X] Actually, you and Uncle are going to Tokyo at the week-end. So, Mariko will be left alone...
--[X] ...Unless other girls keep her company. Maybe they could organise a sleepover?
[X] Play video games again!
-[] *Write-in something, I don't know any co-op games*
[X] Skip to going home

Maybe we shouldn't talk about Harry Potter? We are way behind.
That's why I want to talk about it. ;)
When I fall behinf in some task, talking about it usually helps me to put myself together and catch up.

Also I have troubles to come up with the other topic.

...We probably can mention that we're planning to go to Tokyo at the week-end and ask the girls to take care of Mariko?
It can mellow Ariane out...

The problem is not that Tami ignores it... it is just the least important thing to do at the moment. So talking about it while knowing exactly we do not have the time to give it an honest effort would be... pretty weird.
Plus, I think those books need to be returned.

Edit: Also, sorry for making myself scarce in here; classes started again and I have little time at hand.

I've also been having a rough time of it in RL, and I'm not that good with small talk. I'm not a huge fan of the current vote, but I'm not sure what else to say? Maybe see if Arianne is free this weekend, and if Mariko would enjoy a sleepover? I don't want to leave Mariko all alone in our home, but the visit is also going to be a private and heavy moment, so I'm not sure if her coming along would be best.
