[X] Go to the kitchen and find that bottle.
-[X] Take your time, there is no need to hurry; Mariko probably needs a moment
--[X] When returning, knock on the door first
[X] Once you are back in the room
-[X] Talk to Mariko
--[X] Is there anything else you can do for her?
After a second's bewildered consideration, you decide to go along with the request. There are limits to privacy invasion, one being that staying here would serve no purpose other than aggravate Mariko even further. It wouldn't really be helping in this case. So you'll just play along.
"Okay, I'll go and get that for you," you exclaim, trying to sound like you haven't noticed her reaction.
"Just a sec!"
Mariko doesn't even turn to look as you retreat from the room, humming something incomprehensible. You don't stay to ask her, and move back to the entrance, and the small space between it and the kitchen. The door to the bathroom appears to your left, while another smaller door leads to small enclosed space in the middle of the apartment.
The kitchen itself takes after the rest of the house. You can see obvious spots of decay and wear when you squint, but for the most part Mariko seems to have done a good job here as well. It's only a small, lingering smell in the air that keeps bothering you for reasons you can't quite explain.
It's not a pleasant one, that's for sure.
But as it is, you're compelled to make the token effort to find Mariko's drinking bottle. She wasn't very specific on the location, other than saying it's in one of the cabinets. And there are quite a few of them in the kitchen to go through.
Although, you suppose it works better this way. You're not really in that much of a hurry to go back to Mariko's room. She pretty obviously needs a moment to herself, whatever the reason for that may be. You can afford being thorough with your search here.
You take a good look at all the cabinets, and move to open the first one on the top, standing on your toes as you reach up to it. You try to be as quiet as possible, so as to not disturb Mariko, while she's absorbed in her own thoughts.
You pull open the first cabinet, and the world seems to fall upon you.
You stumble, letting out a startled scream of fright. And as you fall on your rear on the cold, hard floor, the sounds of crashing and clanging glass fills your ears all around you. You watch as a veritable avalanche of empty glass bottles fall on the floor. You can recognize several brands of sake among them, and then other labels that you've never heard of.
The previous stench you could faintly smell before is more prevalent now. However, it would seem that Mariko has at least superficially washed the bottles of their contents.
Speaking of whom, Mariko is quick to rush into the room, obviously in panic. She stops at the doorframe, her wide eyes frantically going over the destruction before her. You let out an awkward, half-formed chuckle.
"Uh…"
"Oh no… No, no, no," Mariko rambles and her hands run through her hair, firmly pressed against her head. Her breathing has become quick and she looks upset.
"I-I had forgotten about those." She carefully steps forward, avoiding any shards on her way.
"A-are you alright? D-did you get hurt?"
Well, you can feel a stinging sensation in your hands, having fumbled for balance on the glass-stained floor. The superficial punctures don't really even hurt that much, compared to some of the stuff you've been through, and you're in fact sardonically wondering how your limbs seem to get maimed whenever you're having drama with Mariko.
Here's hoping that doesn't become a trend.
What do you do?
[] Talk with Mariko.
-[] Try to reassure her that you're fine, just startled.
-[] Ask about the bottles.
-[] write-in something.
[] Write-in.

Granted, this is the first time the injuries to your limbs aren't caused by Mariko's pain mirror
