[X] You're not entirely sure yourself, but from what you've learned, someone hated you so much, they used some sort of magic to make your life miserable.
-[X] There were plenty of times you thought you couldn't bear it anymore, but ever since you made a wish...
-[X] It's not Ami's fault or anyones' for that matter.
-[X] If anything, its whoever cast this curse on you that should be at fault.
"I-I don't know the exact details, and I'm not entirely sure about it myself," you allow after a moment's silence, and an accompanied nervous gulp. "But from what I've learned, someone… someone…"
You rush to take in a deep breath, the memories of your hateful feelings against that person returning to you all at once. Ami looks at you with concern, and seems to be ready to jump off her seat at any moment, crutches or no.
You put up a faint smile and shake your head. You can deal with this by yourself, she shouldn't bother. "That 'someone'... They hated me so much that they used some sort of magic to make my life miserable," you say and begin to frown. You still have no idea who you could have pissed off badly enough for them to do it.
"Basically, I… I-I might as well not exist to other people. I-I'm invisible to them," you croak out, shuddering from the effort of keeping your voice steady and avoiding Ami's gaze. You've been through this once, you can do it again! "There were… plenty of times I thought I c-couldn't bear it anymore…"
You shake your head ruefully, "But ever since I made my wish a couple of weeks ago… I-I've been able to enjoy life again, I've been able to have friends again!" You close your eyes for a moment, before lifting your gaze and turning it straight towards Ami. "It's not your fault, or anyone else's for that matter, that it happened… If anything, it's whoever cast this 'curse' that is at fault."
And they will pay…
Ami doesn't seem to be too convinced by your last-minute uplifting message, as her downcast gaze remains fixed on the glistening surface of her desk. Mixtures of sadness, anger, and regret, among others, pass through her face. You cannot accurately tell what she is thinking or feeling at the moment, but you doubt it's anything too optimistic.
"You've been through a lot, haven't you?" Ami asks you with a low voice, "I'm trying to imagine how it must have been. But I can't quite wrap my head around it. There are too many situations in life where you just run into other people, whether you realize or not."
The girl hesitantly lifts her eyes from the desk, and turns to pick up her crutches from the wall. "If what you say is true, which, given what you've shown me and I've seen, makes too much sense… I don't think I could have made it through myself, honestly," she says while rising to stand up.
Ami leans on her metallic crutches and wobbles to stand right before you, face to face and her lavender eyes locked with yours. "Kind of puts my First World problems into perspective," she chuckles sardonically and leans on her left leg and arm, while wrapping her right one around your upper body.
"For what it's worth, I'm sorry you ever had to go through that. And I'm sorry for leaving you behind, 'curse' or no," Ami whispers to you quietly, and leans herself forward to hug you. Her stature is shaky, however, and she struggles to keep her balance. You doubt that even her better leg is exactly in a good shape.
What do you do?
