You hesitantly pick up the fresh lotus-symboled grief seed next to you. Kishi honestly shouldn't have wasted a pristine seed on your stupidity… But looking at her, you are not sure if you should start arguing about things like this, especially since she was so upset with you a moment ago.
Your press the seed against the Soul Gem on your chest and suddenly it feels like the weight of the entire world had been lifted off your weary shoulders. It is like the world was a slightly brighter place all of sudden and everything would become better if you just tried your best. Next to you, Kishi turns look at you and sighs in relief at seeing you in better shape than before.
This is a full victory against the witch, and she is yet feeling down? She must still be thinking about earlier, how she had to watch you get mauled again... You frown at the realization. Kishis were not made to be sad after all, and you don't want to see her downcast like that. Fortunately, you know just the way to make her feel better.
The power of hugs!
In her untransformed state Kishi has barely a chance to react to your sudden movement as you reach up from your sitting position and wrap your arms around Kishi. She lets out a loud, startled 'eep' as you two fall on the ground with a thud, the smaller girl lying on top of you and your faces almost touching each other. The other girl is too stunned to do or say anything to you, and an embarrassed blush seems to be creeping on her face.
You smile warmly at her and gently start talking to her, "Don't you remember Kishi? I-I promised to never leave you!" You can feel the girl wiggle nervously in your grasp, but you just tighten your hold on her to keep her closer, "And nothing will stop me from keeping that promise to you!"
Kishi seems to have given up any hope of escaping as her face turns almost as red as her red hair, and her eyes have widened to almost comical proportions. She has started babbling something incoherent at you, but doesn't seem to able to form any proper sentences. Well, you were not done yet so it can probably wait.
Suddenly the memories of this afternoon come rushing back to you, from the strange school day to the ice cream bar. But most importantly, you recall the unique… greeting by Ariane, and how the situation you are in hits home way too close for comfort.
Your face explodes into scarlet and steam seems to whistle out of your ears as it suddenly dawns on you just what this looks like. You hastily let go of Kishi and force yourself to sit up, causing Kishi to be rolled to your side with another embarrassed 'eep'. You turn to look at her and panic even more as you realize how just blew her off.
"K-Kishi, I-I'm… I'm sorryyyyyy!" you shout out loud to the girl and bring her back into your embrace, this time with both of your heads on each other's sides, "I-I didn't mean to, oh no… I-I'm sorry, please don't be mad at me!"
In between the constant, high-pitched stuttering, you manage to make out the faint feeling of her nodding furiously, and you let go of the girl.
She seems to have seen better days, as she stares at the roof of the building in an almost comatose expression. However, she soon turns her mighty scarlet face towards you and barely manages to stammer out, "L-let's n-never speak of t-this to a-anyone…"
You nod furiously at the suggestion. This situation is almost like from your worst nightmares, those where your uncle manages to produce some (obviously faked) evidence of your so called affairs. He and anyone else must never know what transpired here! Or you are doomed forever!
With lots of awkward silence and gathering of your wits, the two of you eventually manage to gather enough strength to shakily stand up and leave the building behind you. The short walk to Ariane is as silent as it can get, but also short much to your relief. The girl has sought shelter in a nearby side alley and she comes out to greet you upon noticing your approach.
"You… You made it! I'm so glad, I…" she shouts out in happiness, but then takes a closer look at the two and suddenly becomes horrified, "Kishi, you… you are all bloody? And Tamiko, you too… Did you get badly hurt!? Oh God!"
You both flinch at that. It is partially correct, with only the caveat that Kishi's stains were mostly caused by your impromptu hugs on the ground tarnished with yours. But since you agreed that never happened…
"I-it is nothing major. I-it looks worse than it actually was, don't get the wrong idea!" you desperately answer her, coming across as quite panicked. Fortunately, Ariane seems to accept the excuse with only a sigh of relief. Crisis averted!
"I'm glad to hear that… But Evelyn… Well, she fell completely silent a few moments ago and that mark on her neck disappeared. She's… She's breathing. I think she's just unconscious though, as she wouldn't wake up when I shook her as hard as I could…" she motions for you two to follow her.
The side alley is nigh empty aside from a few old trash cans on the side. However, between them you find the prone and unconscious form of Evelyn. She is covered with the jacket of Ariane and curled into a fetal position.
There are a few tears in the corners of her eyes...

I'm more inclined to believe that she's going to be horrified with herself. Assuming she remembers what she said (and DrZiztah said, based off of the witch's kiss behavior, she very well might), having said that to two good friends... Well, even if she feels, deep down inside, something similar (though far less extreme) than that, she's inherently a good person who would feel terrible about having said that.
