[X] Hard mode setting chosen.

How is this any different from normal? As I recall we died in the tutorial, have been injured in three of the witch fights since then. Two of which we needed Kishi to heal us from, the first of those from a 8/100 witch. And got taken out in the beginning of the fight. We had to run from Anne Maria, and the only fight that really ended without major consequences for us was Amelia. Which still ended up with the masquerade being broken for Evelyn.

The fight with Ariane's specter led directly to Tamiko thinking she had killed her, which could have blown up in our faces horrifically. The only luck Tamiko has is social, despite a curse. Kimiko has the combat luck, so if the above is due to combat not that different from normal. If it is social, Tamiko does have a curse (shrug).

Chapter 2 - Setting the stage 7
[x] Just join the class now, no need to stay here any longer.

With nothing else to really do here, you sigh and start following Kishi's footsteps to the gymnasium. With her not in the immediate vicinity to distract you, your thoughts inevitably turn towards the upcoming P.E. class and what might happen there today. Maybe you could participate with Kishi and Evelyn?

Come to think of it, this is the first time you'll be participating in one after becoming a Magical Girl. Coincidentally, it is also the first one where you know you have people who will actually notice your presence. It used to be difficult to play when no one wanted to pass the ball or communicate in any way during team games.

So you usually just sat on the bench to wait until the lesson is over. There was no reason to try when it will all just fail… But as you make it to the large and brightly lit gym hall, you are immediately greeted by the sight of Evelyn stretching her legs next to the wall bars. Kishi is standing next to her, and upon noticing you turns away with a slight blush present on her face.

You raise your eyebrow in confusion, but let it be for now. She must still be flustered about the thought of your uncle's torment should he be informed of what happened back there.

"Hey! What took you two so long?" Evelyn suddenly calls out and jumps on her feet. "The class is about to start, and I got here several minutes early."

"Uh, s-sorry, we got stuck talking there," you say and rub your neck awkwardly. You don't think it's really your place to tell what happened, especially since Kishi didn't even want to admit about it to you either. "W-we weren't late, though, so no harm done?"

Evelyn nods slowly and brings her arms behind her head, "Well, I guess..."

As if on a cue, the gym teacher blows through the whistle calling the combined class around. Both Evelyn and Kishi move there, with you reluctantly following behind them. You are not surprised to hear that you'll be having basketball this week too. They had that last week and you suppose it makes only sense to continue where you left.

The entire class is soon running around the hall for warm-up exrcise. You are keeping yourself near the tip of the running mass of students, with Kishi and Evelyn next to you. It isn't difficult to keep the pace, the benefits of being a Magical Girl showing themselves again. However, even if you could, you don't talk much on the way. Kishi is still somewhat flustered and Evelyn has her attention on keeping up her pace with the two of you.

So without distractions present you catch a glimpse of that annoying girl, Mariko you think, coming inside, only to get lectured by the teacher for her tardiness. You realize with fleeting satisfaction that she looks annoyed at being preached to, although she doesn't seem to argue back. Instead, she joins the warm-up group without any incident and disappears into the mass.

The warm-up doesn't last forever, though, and soon enough the teacher is starting up a proper games between the students. The class is randomly divided into four teams with all of them having colored vests. Naturally, you are not given a single one, something you are used to. A look at the team distribution reveals Evelyn in the blue team and Kishi in the green one. Alarmingly, it seems that the girl from before shares the team with the latter.

This would usually be the time you skipped everything… But maybe you could make an exception this time?

What do you do?

[] Skip it!

[] Join up with Kishi, magical power team!

[] Join up with Evelyn, she's going to get massacred otherwise.

[] Third team!

[] Write-in.

@Storyteller, Well that's mostly for the events pertaining solely to the plans for this chapter. Namely, you'll have to do without some helpful information and insight about certain things. Nothing earth-shattering when added to all of the stuff on your plate already, but it can make some problems in this particular chapter more difficult to navigate through. Or perhaps easier? Who knows how things will turn out ;).

[X] Join up with Evelyn, she's going to get massacred otherwise.

This way we can "accidentally" ram Mariko if she tries anything.

Would this work? There are four teams...

Hey if anyone asks we are very clumsy. Very.

Edit: Changing vote. Kishi ain't dumb, if we join her team it is going to obvious what we are doing if we start charging for Mariko. And if we get in trouble Kishi is just going to feel guilty about it. This way we can also get Evelyn involved if necessary.

I don't think Kishi would like if we "accidentaly" ran Mariko, but we will be there in case she needs us.

Hey, as a sub vote would it be possible to tell Evelyn that we are keeping an eye on Mariko? Either before or after the match. Though if we have to get involved during the matches, I think Evelyn will realize we have something against that particular player.

"The Ball just moved by itself!"
I assume our lack of presence would extend to the ball while holding it. So it'd be like "Where did the ball go?" "I don't know, the other team doesn't have it either." "Oh there it is, in the basket. Well that's convenient."

It's less that she's invisible to them and more that she holds an almost absurd level of unimportance to them to the point where they don't even feel the need to respond. I think they'll notice the ball at least, or if she hurt someone.

Ignored kishi's crush
Didn't stand up to her bully
made friends with Ariane (high potential, no skill at all. Witchbait.)
are trying to reconnect with sister.
trying to keep Evelyn from contracting

Did i miss anything?

So, either the crush or the bully. The QM did say things would get harder right after we missed out on the last chance to deal with either of those. I'm going to go with the bully. Mostly because I kind of got the vibe that we really should have done something there.

I will be a tad disappointed if Tamiko doesnt 'accidentally' hit Kishis bully in the face with the ball.
