Chapter 2 - Calming down 4

    Well, you did suggest this whole tour with the idea of getting Ariane familiarized with the city and the whole outside world. Going to the library might get too time-consuming for that, and is better left for later.

    "B-but now that I think about it, it might be only fair to finish the tour," you slowly let out, "I kind of promised that and we barely got to see much before being interrupted."

    You turn to look at the frowning Kishi, and shrug apologetically, "S-sorry, guess you are outvoted here. W-we can go see the library inside later."

    Even if it is a bit hesitant, she seems to accept the suggestion for now, "O-oh, okay then... B-but I still think we should t-take some time for that. U-unless there's a tight s-schedule?"

    "I have to go home for dinner.... But it's only after several hours from now! So it's okay, this library sounds fun too!" Ariane pipes in merrily, happy to have her suggestion go through.

    Kishi just sighs, "F-fine, w-where were you before..."

    You make your way out of the cafe to the busy streets of Mitakihara. It is noon already, and many people have come outside to enjoy the beautiful day or simply run some errands they couldn't during the rest of the week.

    It is pretty difficult to keep track of the aides following you, but you can occasionally catch a glimpse of them in the crowd. The tour itself is turning out to be longer than expected, since Ariane gets fixated on the strangest of places, often derailing your planned route quite a bit.

    Still, compared to her enthusiasm in the morning, she seems a great deal more subdued this. While she still seems to fly from place to place, giddy about new places to see, it is possible to see the occasional frown or a shake of head amidst the smile and laughter.

    The witch fight must have done a number on her... But in the middle of the street, it is probably best to talk about things like that later and in a better place.

    Regardless, Kishi ultimately doesn't seem to mind the tour that much, especially since she does seem to get some fun out of giving more in-depth explanations about the places you see. She is quite well-read on this kind of small trivia too, although you can't bring yourself to be that surprised about that.

    Guess it works for getting those two more used to each other at least? It would be nice to spend time with a bigger group of friends, preferably so that they consider each other as such too.

    You are not sure how long you spend walking around, especially since you don't feel that tired from the ordeal. But you have gone through much of the center when you realize that most of the interesting stuff left is either down in the southern parts of the enormous city or in the peripheries.

    Or you'd actually have to go inside one of the places.

    Frankly, heading to the parts of the city further away would require another day of exploring so it may be better to just pick some place here.

    I don't know either where the "just friends" stage ends and the "relationship" stage begins.

    I need to look through the archives more, (and make a time line) but it looks like either she may have already had, or was falling hard back in the Kishi Clinic.

    And when you thought she would be horrified at your appearance, she just came and hugged you, wanting to be your friend. In those moments after that, you have come to enjoy her sunny nature and warm smile. Even if she seems a bit shy and quite goofy at times, the hidden confidence she has is something you have come to love.

    Kishi never finishes this thought. And to mark the passage of time this was Monday night, we are on Sunday

    You manage a raspy inhale and a cough in response. Looks like you got the wind knocked out of you. You can hear a telepathic sigh of relief from Kishi and she immediately turns towards the witch.

    'Y-you... Are. Going. Down!'

    Your vision starts to get better and you start rising from the floor. You stop, however, as you see the witch running towards your position, with only an angry Kishi ready to meet its charge. This is everything that is needed.

    In hind sight the above image bears a lot of resemblance to any story where the hero protects their love interest doesn't it. And the Amelia battle was Wednesday. So I think it was Wednesday at the latest. Tamiko works fast.

    Ariane was a indoor kind of person, she must have read a lot of books.
