In PMMM, humans are eldritch abominations, powerful but dull, that Kyubey was using to break entropy. Madokami and Homucifer are us going full Lovecraft on them, their comeuppance for meddling in things beyond their ken, and destroying them in ways they cannot comprehend for reasons beyond their imagining.

...now I'm suddenly imagining an Incubator version of Old Man Henderson.

I'm not sure if that's the worst or best idea I've ever had. Possibly both.

No control over?
Is he obliged to grant any wish stated to him in your universe?

In this Quest, Kyubey is obliged to make a contract with any girl who asks.

I'm pretty sure that even in canon, once the wish is offered, Kyubey can't back out. Otherwise he would have NOPE'd out of Madoka's apotheosis right quick.

In my interpretation, Kyubey isn't the one granting the wish or the one who applies the wish to reality (or whatever the fuck happens when a wish is granted) but rather, he's set himself/his race as the conduit for the mechanism. Like when someone makes their wish, he's just the guy holding the microphone.

Same effect. Can't unhear what someone said into the mic. Once it happens, you can't just say 'no, i think not Miss Kaname, Urobuchi asked for this universe to remain Grimdark'

... do it. Do It. DOITDOITDOITDOITDOITDOITDOITDOIT!

Doooooooo eeeeeeeeeeeet!

Eh, frankly I don't think I could do the idea justice. :V

That's a pretty common interpretation, I think. It's also the one I'm using for this quest, incidentally, not that it's likely to ever matter...

[x] Do not wake up Kaede.

[x] Try being friendly to the dog and see if you can convince it you mean no harm.
-[x] Ask Yumi if she has any dog treats in her mysterious skirt inventory.

[x] Ask for help getting Kaede, Naoko, and the dog to the location Maiko has in mind.
-[x] Ask for Yumi's help.
--[x] Have Yumi stick around and introduce her to Maiko there.

Waking up Kaede just because you don't want to drag her and Naoko, only to put her back to sleep for an indefinite period of time once she's schlepped her ally's corpse-body around, is cruel.

[X] Kaede goes over one shoulder, Naoko over the other. Aaaaand... march!
-[X] You don't actually want to get savaged by Kaede's dog, but it's also very unlikely to actually hurt you, so. Let it come along, ignore it if it bites you?

I do want to atleast try to be nice to the dog. That said, yeah. Yui's transformed state is probably well able to just shrug the old dog off.

Quick thought here:

We may want to give this 'disconnected from your body' thing a try ourselves, soon. If it's just like a light switch being flipped off, great! But if you can sense things in the great bodiless void, are aware of time passing, stuff like that, then Yui's plans for rehabilitation may well be unworkable.

Stasis. Just putting the gems somewhere is one thing, but there is a machine capable of stopping all through processess inside gems/seeds.

How so?
Was Madokami a bad thing for him? And if so, was that obvious from the wish?
The fact that he was trying to get the witch system back up and running in Rebellion springs to mind?

Also, Madoka was basically taking away the only way his race knew of how to counter entropy. Wraiths didn't exist pre Madokami, so from what Kyubey knew, Madoka was basically deconstructing the entire system his race had been building up. So I'd wager that Kyubey viewed the loss of witches as a Bad Thing.

To continue the metaphor, what's stopping him from asking what they want to wish for before turning the mic on? Or even havning a trial run with it off?
Introducing a system that never really expected a story breaker like Madoka? Lets not get too carried away with analogies though, many of them tend to break down on close inspection anyway.

BTW--I probably won't have time to write an update tonight, so given the lack of consensus so far I think I'll leave votes open for another day-ish.

Uh... we do have places to be and important talks to be had. Yumi is likely to get upset if we get too carried away with the dog.

Also we're transformed. Petting the dog in this state is... not advised.
