He's helpful when helping you suits his purposes. :V But yes, Kyubey did intervene multiple times to smooth things over for Yui here. Things would have been more difficult if you'd told the bunnycat to scram. Just be aware that Yui doesn't have the full picture on Kyubey's goals, and you won't necessarily get any obvious warning if Kyubey's interests oppose Yui in any particular situation.

That said, the reflexive anti-Kyubey thing (particularly in PMAS) is part of the reason why I started this Quest out with Kyubey firmly on your side, even after Yui was told not to trust him.
 
So... Who wants to wake up Kaede?

Wake her up for transit, tell her she's going into cryogenic sleep, then gem her again after a brief conversation about her future and the dog.

Is it really so surprising that a girl who's prickly and reflexively distrustful of people's motives would hit it off with a girl who has absolutely no brain-to-mouth filter and is nearly incapable of taking offense?

They're, like, perfectly complementary opposites. :V

Very pleased with this update. Maiko finding out about our wish took her off-guard as well. :p

There is a certain lack of logic in admitting an inability to deal with Kaede's dog, and then waking her up with the intention of putting her back to sleep for a long time. Because, you know, the dog is still there.

Still thinking about it.
 
Might have to wake her up sooner rather than later.

Also possible that Maiko is busy covering our asses and the dog's going into cryosleep too.

Well, it does mean she can have a say in what you do with her dog...

Of course, there's the risk that she won't be happy with any of the options. Keep in mind that the dog is 9 years old, and is of a breed that typically lives 10 to 12 years according to most sources I found.

Honestly, I'm not convinced Kaede needs hibernation. Naoko, an argument can be made for, because she is seriously messed up. Kaede? Rather more sane. And has a least one button we can press (the dog).

Still not sure we should wake her up now, though. Let's explore alternative options before we move to that.

That's the kind of thing I want to maybe determine after waking her up and talking to her. See how she reacts, whether she's cooperative, etc.

Still not sure we should wake her up now, though. Let's explore alternative options before we move to that.

Waking her up seems fairly practical, but feel free to suggest alternatives.

We're walking her to meet Maiko. I'd rather avoid Kaede finding out about her, or anything about the general location.

Possible suggestions:
- ask Yumi whether she has dog biscuits / has dealt with Kaede's dog before
- search Kaede's body for dog biscuits, try to get the dog to follow.
- carry Kaede's body a certain distance, see if it follows
- use Kaede's arms to pick up the dog and hold it in her arms, and carry it.
- only if all of that fails, should Kaede be woken up.

That's something I took into account, and it's something that can easily be adjusted for better security.

Right now the dog seems rather unwilling to let you do anything with Kaede's body at all.

Even waking her up would be kinda iffy, if not for the dog being trained to recognize her Soul Gem. In fact, if you set the gem on the ground the dog will retrieve it and wake her up itself.

Yeah, I was hoping for something like that.

When I wrote 'soul gem in hand', I meant like, visibly holding it up to the dog to see if it recognizes the gem as Kaede, or at least important to her.

Turns out most meguca don't expect their enemies to have trained pets, and even fewer are willing to hurt a cute doggy. :V

Yui's not the only meguca capable of disconnecting someone very quickly, so Kaede specifically trained her dog to recognize and retrieve her Soul Gem if she collapses.
 
Okay, in that case it might be safer (less likely to hurt the dog, and makes Kaede more manageable) to use the dog to wake Kaede up. Blargh. I'm just worried she'll get ideas if we're not carrying her Soul Gem and are hampered by Naoko's body.

I'm short ideas on this so I might wait until someone else comes up with something.

Have Yumi carry Naoko, or take hold of Kaede's soul gem after waking her up. Or both.
 
Kyuubey really has been very helpful every time we interacted with him. We should encourage this helpfulness.

Yeah, that's really annoying. He's only helpful but the voters are/were determined to make him an enemy even though he's ridiculously powerful.
