Every chapter makes me love El more and more! She's such a good match for Taylor—energetic and extroverted, but I think it's her open mind that makes the most impact. That, or she annoyed Weaver into friendship…

It's nice to see Taylor willing to reach out for emotional support. It's probably because until recently, she wasn't actually Taylor, but eh… she's stuck with El now
At this point she's probably more Weaver than Taylor. A Weaver who remembers the experiences of Taylor instead of Taylor having the experiences of Weaver if you will.

The Tyrannocide chapter of lore lends some light on her plan. She hoped to get killed by Oryx to enter into his throne world as a discreet entity, and steal his power after his defeat. It worked pretty well, but Oryx's been around the old block a few billion times, and has gotten pretty good countering plots, so Mara's plan fell apart when he corrupted her throne world and Took/Corrupted/Romanced Riven.

Yeah, Forsaken really showed the limits of Mara's knowledge and ability to manipulate events, given her plan got the entire Awoken fleet killed, Riven taken, her brother driven crazy and shot, and the Dreaming City stuck in a time loop.

The difference is that in canon, she really only had herself to rely on regarding her plans. Things are hopefully different with Weaver at her disposal.

I see a few things happening here.

1) Taylor may or may not be informed of her plan to steal power from Oryx. Most likely the former just to ensure that Taylor stays behind and not die in the sacrificial ploy.

2) The House of Wolves civil war will allow for Mara a legitimate excuse to pass on the title of Kell to Taylor. This also is done in preparation to avoid things going completely pear-shaped once Mara does do her thing on the Fallen Side.

Besides the above, the canon storyline would most likely stay intact with Riven, the Dreaming City, etc.

Depends on if QA feels up to going several rounds against an Akhamkara.
"... dear Weaver of...*SHARD PUNCH INTERRUPT* what?"
[CESSATION] [WEAVER] [PROPERTY], [DERROGATORY] [FEMALE CANINE]
"... what... no put that down... let's not be has... *smash* ...ty"
[CEASE] [WORTHLESS WYRM]

You know, I wonder if the differences in augmenting Taylor up along with whatever the Techuns will cash Taylor's favor in on will allow for a change in the future. I do hope so; retreading the same ground as game does seem dreadfully dull~

iirc the only reason why it failed was that her witches panicked and opened a portal to her throne world, and since she was in Oryx's, he noticed it somehow due to that... which was 'cuz she didn't tell them about her plan lmao

Speaking of Calus, would he offer Taylor a place among his Shadows? If so, would she be the Shadow of Earth or the Shadow of the Reed?

He would but more for what she is than where. She is a Risen, that isn't a guardian, that remembers her past and came from another reality.

As to the ploy, I wouldn't count on the same story line. The mere presence of Taylor as a Risen would most likely affect her plans. We know that a guardian's death can increase a throne world substantially. I personally wouldn't be surprised that since Taylor has become a member of the guard and is more or less the hand of Mara, that she has been growing Mara's power due to her position as an underling so to speak (I think Destiny's lore supports that, but don't murder me if it doesn't). Mara may already be personally more powerful.

I also think that many of the Wolves see Taylor as their Kell given her hands on approach. They certainly see her as a Captain (less of the average game enemy and more of a sub Kell). Maybe, they will still rebel but... Taylor is chipping away at the reasons they would.

Personally, I have wondered, what would happen if a guardian had a throne world...

Im not up to date on Shadowkeep lore, but doesn't Toland have something like that? He was able to survive his own death despite not having a ghost, but is stuck as some kind of incorporeal spirit thing.
I don't know if Toland even qualifies as a Guardian at this point, honestly. He does have something like a throne world? at some point? but it doesn't seem to be much of a thing.

His natural smugness sustains him.

More seriously, Toland lives as a wandering spirit, seperated even from his Light. Even that's in pieces across reality, which might be how he's avoiding True Death.

It also didn't help that Oryx knew his defeat would come inevitably. He knew his worm would demand more and more for the sword logic and it would eventually demand to much to keep up with so he set up a way to leave a lasting legacy via Savathun and the vex mind he Took and gave her which contains a portion of himself. Personally I think Oryx is still alive.

Toland the Eternal Dumbass sacrificed his own ghost, walked up to the Deathsingers and asked to hear their dirge of death so he could effectively make it his own. They separated his soul from his body and light ,fragmented it and tossed it into the ascendant realm to wander forever as a sort of pseudo curse. He doesn't have a throne world. The only non-hive , non-awoken who had a throne world (and isn't that an interesting conundrum?) That we know of was a Scorn Baron who was effectively half hive himself and he had to help kill a legendary Guardian to do so.

"I meant to do that."

Seriously, for a non-corporeal being, it's impressive how he's managed to shove his head up his own ass.

Toland the Eternal Dumbass

both are understatements of the highest order, but yes, in walking up to the Deathsinger and letting her Sing his death he did something weird. In his attempt to understand the deathsong, his own deathsong at that (my own interpretation is that each Song is specific/unique to the thing the Singer is attempting to kill), he managed to keep some claw attached to existence, rather than being destroyed.

And he didn't so much sacrifice his ghost as say; "Hold my Light and watch this" while his ghost cheered from the sidelines. literally, you can find Toland's dead ghost on the moon and it backed Toland's plan 110%

They're perfect for each other. A pair of dumbasses that think they're smarter than everyone else because they don't let silly things like ethics and common sense get in the way of their Bad Science.

Anyways, to get more on topic, I'm interested to see how Taylor will get involved with the Dark Below because iirc during that time Petra handed out Queen guns but didn't do much else. The butterfly are exciting :)
Also, if Taylor finagles the parts she needs and provides a new servitor for the wolf Eliksni, no matter what bullshit prophecy Skolas spews about being "The Kell of Kells", I don't think the wolves will join him. Taylor is really good at swaying the underdogs. Also, I wonder if Skolas will even get out this time, considering how he escaped in the first place. I can imagine Taylor's scathing response to his attempt to recruit her Wolves.
"Prophecy is it? In my first life I slayed a precognitive amalgamation that was practically a god and saved hundreds of realities. I've only gotten better since. What did you say you could do again?"

I am very sure that the Wolves would be infinitely more happy to have Taylor as Kell rather than Mara.

A few of them grumbled that literally the only thing that holds her back was that she was not born an Eliksni. On the other hand, most of them would probably attest that she's Eliksni in all the ways that truly matter. I can't wait to see how a truly United Wolves affects the formation of House Dusk and the other houses. Having a non-Eliksni Kell with a completely and utterly loyal house would be inconceivable but so very interesting.

It's one of the arcs I'm looking forward to the most in this fic. Oryx, Crota, etc. have been done already in canon and in most fanfics. This plotline on the other hand is completely and utterly new.
