... goddamnit Eleanore!
And goddamnit @EarthScorpion This story is supposed to be funny. It isn't supposed to make me feel emotions.

In all seriousness this is a fantastic update. Especially that last bit of emotional whiplash at the end. It really speaks to the strength of your writing that you were able to draw me in so effectively. Thank you.

I think I just got whiplash from how fast that mood shift was, because damn.

I was not expecting to feel these feelings come this update. Even alignment swapped and their blood screaming within them to kill each other, the two are still sisters. Even if Catt is still upset and not yet in the same emotional valley as her siblings.

Fool this spell never works as what people thought it does. Break time and find out what lives outside it, not waiting because that means time passes but ready for it.

And then Wards enter double depression while Mags and Fran too get depressed and still fall to evil.
Louise still tumble on the gauntlet, still go to try to finish off Louis (for Eléanor's memory), but without Catt, she fail and get under Louis's control, who then go on to make Catt into his a vampire ans so Eléanore only made thing worse.
...

This was what I really hope won't happen.

Eleanore is a case study of thoroughly reading the Evil Overlord's Handbook, considering the warnings, and then deciding you know better than the fools who wrote it.

Behind her, the world shattered like glass. Something chimed, the sonorous tolling of a bell. Blackness flared up within the spell circle, casting shadows over the room. Louise snapped off a spell, but her lightning vanished into one of the cracks in the world.
Welcome to Paradox Land. It doesn't exist and whenever it does it auto-corrects in the form of strange mis-adventures by the protagonist.

The universe is rather good at finding a way to mostly fix a world when things get too broken,

So, correct me if I failed my comprehension check... This Time Travel that Eleanore is using is the kind where you jump from one timeline, and onto another, right? So, Eleanore's leaving the 'Main' Timeline to another she could die a Hero's Death?

Geez. What the heck, Eleanore.

The Time Travel mentioned is mechanically unknown, but suggests lots of eldritch scenery and total incomprehensibility to human minds.

I'd suggest taking two China Mievilles and calling it a night.

I think it depends on how time travel works in this setting. As far as I'm aware of in terms of possible time travel mechanics, we've got the following possible situations

1. The spell sends back individuals as their current selves, and Eleanore's plan is to ensure the death of her past self prior to her unleashing Grandaddy Louis.
2. The spell sends back individuals into their past bodies, and Eleanore's plan is to commit suicide.
3. The spell sends people into an alternate timeline, much like in say DBZ, and Eleanore intends to ensure the death of that version of her prior to unleashing Grandaddy Louis.

I think 1 is the most likely based on my reading of the update. However I'm rather hoping for 2 as having the littlest version of Louise work to prevent Eleanore from messing with the timeline would be hilarious.

4. The spell doesn't and never worked and instead spreads fragmentary bits of Eleanore throughout existence.

(Well, really, the real question is whether the character being controlled is The Overlady, whoever that may be, or Louise. I suspect we're soon going to find out! If it did switch, good thing Eleanore comes pre-statted at a fairly high level, even if perhaps not as high as a perfectly leveled Louise run up to this point.)

... we know how this form of time travel works. Eleanore explained it.
"I don't have - ha! - time to explain it to you right now, but suffice to say, the Great Spell of Elias Chronophagus shatters time. Cause and effect has no hold on what happens there. Suffice to say, you can in fact go back in time and murder your grandfather.
It "shatters time" - and causality - and you can do whatever the fuck you want in the broken pieces, and presumably then it reforms with heavy scarring and scabs over the paradoxes you caused. It's an Evil time travel spell, not like the Good version heroes get to use which is probably more of a classical "rewind and try again" deal.

Time Shattering... yeah that never goes well... Good thing Halkeginia isn't under the purview of the Auditors of Reality... hopefully... we don't have a friendly Reaperman and Family for this.

Yes. In addition, as was explicitly said in the previous story chapter:

"Athe and Baelogji are trapped in a magic crystal! And she has it! She has the power!" Louise tried to resist the urge to bite her nails, and failed. "How much time can this magic destroy? Please only let it be minutes! I'll even settle for hours."

Gnarl cleared his throat. "Well, last time it was used, it was… well, it's quite hard to say. Didn't you ever wonder why history is so confused and there's an endless succession of monarchs with very short reigns? Of course, old Elias didn't even cast the spell right. The way that a hero stabbed him through the forehead when he was mid-way through may have had something to do with that. Wretched heroes, always meddling with a man's attempt to destroy periods of time."

"You're not helping, Gnarl!"

"Correct, your former-wickedness, I am not. But… decades, at least. The entire reign of King Julius the Benevolent never happened."

"Who?"

"Precisely."

"Do not prize the greater good. Treasure the little goods, the tiny embers in even the blackest heart. And nurture those embers. Even the smallest flame can light a beacon. Evil might say that this is trite and inane, but such words are merely bluster from those scared of the soft glow of hope."
OK... I sacrificed loved ones and friends for greater good... Why did I do it again? Lets try to rewind time or something else to fix this... and make more of mess in process...
"She needed to carry my dress! Fettid! No stealing it!"
Fettid: I "borrowed" it, you left it to me for "keping it safe" and I just forgot to return it!

Otherwise Fettid is forbidden from stealing it.... but there was no mention of other minions! If they like it...
Stone crunched behind her. Louise turned, and then swallowed. The gargoyle on the clock tower was peeling itself away from the brickwork. With a noise like a landslide, it clattered down onto the lead roof, bending the metal under its weight. It had to be three times her height, and many times broader. Ornamental copper armour shed flakes of verdigris as the gargoyle flexed its muscles, hefting a poleaxe big enough to decapitate a dragon.

Throwing its head back, it moved as if to roar but made no noise.
Dark Souls 1? Shouldn't Louise watch her back as that boss has a partner when halfway damaged?
Smugly, Louise watched it fall. The end of her borrowed wand smoked in the cold air. With a slow exhalation, she blew the smoke away. And then she started coughing.
Then she rode her unicorn into the Sun falling on horizon, never to be seen, seeking new adventures....

wait a sec, rewind this scene... When did this became western and no proper duel with gargoyle was called?
Louise blinked. Was that a maths joke from a… oh, wait, Maxy. She probably should watch him. He might be smart enough to realise that she had no intentions of ever becoming the overlady again.
Secret:
Maxy knows... and doesn't care...

She is not having income from "inn" staffed with demons, abyssal fashion line, potion/drug trade (healing potion, love/brainwash, strength/steroids, invisibility, hallucinogen mushrooms for berserkers) or making magical artefacts of Evil to sell...

Instead she gets shines exact same way like normal Heroes. Choose target place, kill everyone and steal even thing nailed to ground along with nail.

It is just that Heroes do it to Evil ones only, while Overlords do it to both Evil and Good peoples, so no reason to care! There are still shiny thing to steal and booms to make!
Coddy wetted his lips hungrily. "I no are gonna fall for that. You is just gonna have Fettid stab me inna back."
Now this one is dangerously clever and has reason to back-stab Louise.
"It doesn't matter. That's not Cattleya. Not really." Eleanore's voice was soft. "It's a blood-sucking monster with her memories. It's a monster that thinks it's Cattleya. But it's not really her. Cattleya died. And it was my fault. All my fault."

"It was Louis' fault! He was the vampire!" Louise snapped. "And it is Cattleya! You're wrong about how vampires work! It's her soul trapped in her body! It has to eat life force to stay mobile! It's her, not a monster."
There is still Cattleya's soul in that body and she has good reason to hate Elanoire...

If someone tries to bring back loved ones it fails, they never seem satisfied... even if everything was done perfectly as their remembered ideal and real person conflict?
And then there was no more time.
End then they were outside time. Perfect stasis and isolation. Couldn't affect world or be affected. Could observe it or be observed. Frozen in that one moment when time shattered and they fell out of time stream into empty void...

And that is how world was saved by Elanoire by removing out of world The sentient Artefact of Evil and two best host of Evil energies, result of centuries of breeding for that specific purpose. This caused strong shift in balance in favour of Good, causing the world to be absolutely annihilated in flash of light as result of it's victory, instead of being consumed by blackest Evil darkness.. There was only white emptiness left.

Hey... wait a sec...
