I wonder if such a wish (Jessica replacing her Incubus half with Succubus) would result in Scarron being unshackled. Where was the bit where she explained it again?

Nah, unless it replaced her genes to remove his instead of just magically make her a succubus instead she'd still be his daughter... even if it did magic might still consider her his daughter.

It'll probably never come up anyway, was just thinking that since Incubi and Succubi are explicitly different things that changing her biology like that might remove that filial connection. Just woolgathering.

Honestly, it really seems like sex-change magic is the kind of thing that would exist in Overlady!Halk, with its blend of fantasy tropes and cliches. My mental model of the world says "if it would enable wacky shenanigans, it probably exists."

But, then again, I suppose it would be harder to write about trans characters if magic could just instantly let everyone match their sex to their gender.

Wasn't there a magic mirror in canon ZnT or one of its spinoffs that allowed people to adopt magical disguises without being limited by body-type or biological sex? If the disguises last indefinitely, someone might simply use it once and then not turn back.

Genies are one option, as already noted, and if there is any other method it's probably has a great number of problems related to its casting.

The "Mirror of Truth", which was used for a costume ball. The ZNT wiki says "changes appearance, but not the voice...", which may mean it's only an overlaid appearance.

To keep it out of the thread, does someone want to shoot me a message and explain to me why some people care about 'gender identity' issues at all? This is the second story I've read recently that has it as a thing (though, here it seems to have only been an issue out of story).

Well, in theory, Succubus and Incubus are the same demon. Succubus collect semen from men's dream, then change to Incubus to impregnate women.

Then again, this fun fact is usually ignored in fantasy.

Depends on the tales really, other tales its life force being drained by like some sort of sailor moon monster of the week and in some more modern tales its souls being taken instead.

But its literally fun for everyone!
I'm not saying that the acts involved with succubi and incubi aren't fun, though I do suspect that homosexuals may not have fun as I doubt they'd get their prefered sex of demon as the mechanics probably wouldn't work out for the demons' purposes. What I am saying is that the overall meta idea of succubi and incubi being the same beings that change from one to the other is not everyone's cup of tea.

Also quick edit, but I realized that this all relates to the actual plot of the story here. Jessica specificly complains a billion chapters ago about her incubi form making dating hard for her as it makes girls want her and makes guys feel insecure or something like that.

Warning For Marginal Behavior
At the risk of pissing everybody off, I'll dissent (oh god, here come the Mobs and their Mods!). A person can be gay and a person can be as masculine or feminine as they please because those are very much subjective and I'm not gonna judge for that, but Male or Female is a Genetic Construct not a Social one. People are what they were born and what they naturally become (barring birth defects, degenerative conditions, and injuries. Those are unfortunate conditions, and I'll never seriously rag on DS Donny for his DS or Handicripple Henry for his walker, though I do crack jokes, hell I've got Autism and a good chunk of my family have permanently crippled themselves, humor is the best way to live with it). When somebody is convinced that they can fly in the face of reality we say they're dillusional and get them help if they try to prove it off a building. I hold the same belief on sex change; XX or XY, and if someone thinks that drugging and surgically mutilating themselves will change that (which it won't) then clearly their problem isn't their gender. I believe similar for (non-reconstructive) cosmetic surgury too. People are what they are, not what they think they are or should be. If you were meant to be it than it would be possible to achieve naturally. To make yourself anything different is wrong, you betray yourself by doing such and you tresspass on the realm of God's work.

Wow.... A friend of mine used to say the same thing. She starts hormone therapy soon.

That's nice, but Aleph has already said everything I think I could get away with on this Thread. Especially with the Official Mod Intervention on the very page you pulled that quote from.

Actually the mod intervention is on the page after.... How many posts per page are you using?

Hmm somehow I don't know why it popped in my head but I could picture evil overlord Louise as a parent in the future... juggling evil overlordship and personal relationships while raising her children.

Which gets me thinking that depending on who Louise's eventual partner is and how certain magics that may or may not be invoked work, there's the possibility that there will be a pregnant Louise at some point.

Which is a really scary thought.
