What are bolts? But yes, if it help then i agree.
Bolts are basically a thing to assist in rolls and gear the story more your way.

I suppose "Hero Points" may be a good synonym. Just using lightning bolts cause of my username.

They give either a bonus towards yours and your ally's rolls and a negative to your opponents.

That make sense?

@PoptartProdigy you made me laugh with your first post in the thread, so you get one.
Woo!
5 is fair in my opinion. Also...

@PoptartProdigy @ExNihilo @Ghostdevil What do you say to using our bolts on this very next update since training montage seems to going to win? We are considered weak. These Lightning Bolts will help power us up.
I am considering it, but need to clarify something first.

Terms of use? As in, must call for use before you roll, or call at any time, including after results are announced but before the update is posted?

Alright, good question. I need to do some thinking on that before I have a definite answer.

I'll get that in a Rules update once I'm home tonight so I can think and not be at work.

From my own experience, restricting it to, "call in advance," simplifies matters, but there are reasons to have it be a, "before or after," sort of thing. Especially if the points equate to some kind of actual, IC fate/destiny.

Saiyan Effect - ExNihilo
So, I know I said not for a while, but for some reason, I just wanted to write. Chaya's character hasn't been super established yet, so I took some liberties.

Saiyan Effect:
What happens if you change Tali but keep all the other characters the same, or;
God damn, Saiyans break power curves.
[Disclaimer: I've never actually played Mass Effect, so…]

Commander Jane Shepard wasn't quite sure what to expect when entering Chora's Den, but whatever it was, this wasn't it. Scantily clad Asari running everywhere, holes punched through solid steel plating, several dozen Turians and Krogan, dressed in bouncer's uniforms, either out cold or nursing wounds against the walls, and in the center, a redhead girl standing lightly on her feet, looking not at all winded. She seemed to be on fire, but somehow in a good way? Oh, and a tail, so either an adventurous human, or more likely, an alien.

"Ah, hi? This isn't my fault, I swear, there was this guy who wanted something from me, and I didn't want to give it to him, so he tried to jump me, and well, not the best choice he'd ever made." Understatement.

"Wait, you did all of this? I thought this was some sort of gang conflict or some of the security wanted better pay. Are you some kind of biotic?"

"You could say that. Yeah, just me. Well that guy" she points to one unlucky Krogan with a plasma burn, "was hit by friendly fire, but it was aimed at me, so I think it counts."

Shepard's mind raced. She'd heard some races were monsters at unarmed combat, but this was a bit beyond what she had thought possible for a specops combat team. And without even breaking a sweat… "Are you interested in a job? I'm hunting someone, and I could use all the help I can get."

'Sure, why not, sounds like fun."

~//~

The others were injured, almost dead. He had proven difficult, armed with technology that he shouldn't have had, great flashes of light blasting forth, spelling doom to anything it hit. Even Shepard had taken a hit, and while not down yet, was clearly on her last legs. She wasn't… strong enough…

"No, Saren, I won't let you win here. My people, my friends, they are relying on me… I won't let them down! HAAAAAAAAAA!"

The world was bathed in a golden light. Her ponytail gave, and all at once, everything was on fire. The fight wasn't a challenge, anymore. The corrupted Spectre was down before he even realized what had happened.

~//~

"Did she just beam struggle the Collector vessel?"

~//~

The Reaper ships, undaunted, poured out of the Citadel. Combined with the corrupted forces upgraded by Sovereign, they were a threat to behold, shattering the Council's attempt at resistance. Then, a voice, somehow heard through the void, screaming "Final Burst Cannon!"

And then there was light.

AN:
So yeah, a little fun. Saren was better equipped in reaction to Chaya, not that it really mattered. Not really serious, just a bit of fun.

Rules and Bolts Update
General Rules Update:

1.) Soko's thoughts will be slightly impacted by what you guys say/debate. If it's something I find to be reasonable and makes sense? Then it'll go.
2.) If there's something that someone brings up for a vote that I consider to be decent, which is what happened with the vision being brought up with mom, I'm liable to include that in the next vote. I overlook things every now and then.

That's it for that.

Lightning Bolts!:

So. Lightning Bolts. Cookies. Hero Points.

So many names.

As of right now, for right now, I'm going to go with a call in advance system. I'll give you all a slight nod of what the next post may entail, or if a roll has the odds of success towards something(Training, combat, conversations, the like). And we'll see how it goes.

And if you ever have a suggestion, please feel free to give it. I'm still a novice(as I've said 100 times before and will say 100 times again) to questing and I do appreciate tips and such.

And we're going to go ahead and test that now if you'd all like.

VOTE IS NOW CLOSED.

A small smidgen on IC knowledge that you have gained.

You have caught wind that your father's taking your hard training and want to prove yourself to heart, and has decided to run a tournament a week before you embark. Those participating in this tournament will be all of those who are about to go on their Rite of Passage.

You may use the Lightning Bolts to increase your odds of success in both training and in this tournament, as well as the odds towards facing more favorable opponents.

Once all of that is out of the way, I shall begin work on the next update.

Question.

Do you just want to put those bolts towards only your training?

Or do you want it to go for the entire next post. As there's also going to be the tournament. Because, I can give those rolls only for training and then just use the character's stats for the combat rolls during your portions of the tournament.

Just, clarifying is all.

Also, I have updated the front page Accordion to include how the Lightning Bolts now work.

Each player can acquire three per at the moment.

We lose anything if we make them general?

For science! So general!

...yeah, any Modifier is broken if stacked enough. Imagine all four of us agreeing to use three Bolts each on a single update. That's how stacked modifiers can be broken. But at the same time that'll be VERY unlikely.
